I wonder if they're going to patch the fighting system slightly to make it impossible to attack again until your pokemon finishes the animation... Interrupting animations for your own pokemon seems to cause a massive boost in DPS. I've started interrupting attack animations to attack again once I see the opponent take damage, and I haven't seen the 1hp glitch appear again, so I haven't seen any issues so far. With some pokemon, it is straight up broken over others. For example, my Flareon attacks fairly quickly, with about a 1 second animation, with the damage being dealt at about .75 seconds in. My vaporeon, on the other hand, has the same animation time, but the damage appears at about .25-.5 seconds in to the animation. If I consistently animation cancel, it seems like I can attack easily twice as fast as normal, and it's even faster to just use the quick attack than to sue the special. It makes it even more absurdly easy for beating the computer controlled gym pokemon, who wait for the animation to finish and then wait an extra half second or so while attacking.
Maybe I'm just looking in to it too much, but doing this I was able to beat a 5 pokemon gym (CP's 250, 446, 492, 560, 983) using only my CP971 Flareon and my CP 652 Vaporeon. It's a bit ridiculous once you get the timing down and watch the hp meter.
