Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Whats the level cap for the game?

It was 50 for the beta test, apparently. This would make sense since you can power up a Pokemon twice per trainer level, which would mean a Pokemon's max level for CP purposes is 100.

Who asked that stupid question ? XD

How can these guys stream pokemon go all day?

https://www.twitch.tv/reckful

What kind of dataplan is that? lol

40k viewers, Twitch is bored XD
Him waving the phone none stop make me a bit sick motion >.>...

So the update on iOS screwed TPC users? Why can't they fix things on the TPC end?

They're probably not award of it if people don't mail them to report the bug (yes, no offical forum and their twitter kinda dead, I don't know about their facebook)
For example the 1HP bug and google acc messed up was fixed only after the publication of article from a respectable website...

I live above a laundromat right now and it put a marker or something over my place.
...
I aint moved from the couch in half an hour and I just caught nearly a dozen Pokemon. Eevees, Venonat, Zubat, Drowzees, clefairies everywhere, wurmples, pidgeys, ratatatas, haunter and some sorta crab keeps showing up on radar.

Gonna makes me an Eevee team outta this. Grass keeps a fluffin up round me too. If the app doesn't freeze I'll just sit here and fill er up.

ain't no wurmples

Niantic has the absolute worst customer communication I have ever seen.
All the other regions waiting for the game have only been told "soon", and "we had to stop for a bit because or servers are fucked". The WSJ writer said he had a talk with sources (or something like that) that told him Japan and other regions would get the game this week, but here we are still completely clueless.
Yeah, their PR team or at least their actions are some of the worst I have ever seen for a popular game like this. The Niantic Labs Japan guy only said sorry for keeping us waiting, and that was 6 days ago, then nothing since.

I want a status like you T_T

DAMN IT! Was 23/23, finished a midterm, and on my way out noticed an ARBOK JUST HANGING OUT NEXT TO OUR BUILDING. Couldn't hit my pokeballs, I'm sorry team instinct, I have dishonored us all :(

dude. i'm pretty sure they didn't expect to exceed twitter in terms of DAUs. you guys act like you paid money and niantic is some huge company (when even a huge company would have faced the exact same issues most likely given the completely insane response level)

There is no dishonor is fighting and losing, my son. Team Instinct will hold you forever in our memory.

Remember: There is no shelter from the storm.

Oh no don't get me wrong, I'm ok with the wait. I just think it would be nice to be told something instead of silence for a week, and wanted to share that opinion. I'm not raging on Twitter or something, just replying to a comment on a forum talking about this. I'm not acting like I paid money, sorry.

How do people stream/record Pokémon GO? Like, if I wanted to record my screen for a video to upload to YouTube, how would that be done on a modern Android phone? Maybe this is off-topic, but seeing PGO videos is making me curious.

A tweet or a post on facebook would not kill them. Heck they could hire me if they want, I would post for them *_*

Team Instinct are the underdogs, right? Every survey has them placed as the least popular against traditional red vs blue and admittedly cooler concepts.

Sounds like my kind of team!
Yup, we're most likely the underdogs in terms of numbers. We're persistent though and give the other two teams a run for the money. Plus we have Zapdos as our mascot. The other two birds are shit tier.

So whack, so those of us who downloaded the update are locked out of the game until they release another patch...

Never update apps directly from your phone if there's even the slightest chance you may want/need to roll back. Update through iTunes so you can save a copy of your apps.

Anyway, Apple can prioritize app store updates so if Niantic is quick to release a patched version, I won't take the normal 7 day approval time.

Can someone explain the coin/dust rewards from gyms again?

If I conquer one gym and collect, I need to wait 20 hours right? What happens if I collect, and conquer an additional gym, can I not collect the rewards from that gym until the 20 hour timer is up? If the gym is taken from me before then, do I lost the rewards? This is all really confusing.

It's pretty clear they're 1000% overwhelmed here. With all eyes on them, anything they say will be looked at with extreme scrutiny, so they need to be extremely careful what information they move forward with.

In the same vein, because they didn't expect this kind of response, they're probably scrambling to create an infrastructure that can maintain and satisfy demand. From servers, to PR guys, to community managers across all territories. I think we'll be looking at a complete 180 when it comes to customer satisfaction in a month or two.

I have a question about the current meta behind leveling and evolving.

The first eevee I evolved started out as a 230. Ended up with a 555 Jolteon.

I currently have a 102 eevee and enough candy to evolve it.

But based on my understanding, I feel like I should wait in order to capture a higher level eevee. Is this wrong?

Update: got fucked by Hawkian. His guide is wrong. He claims that evolving a Pokemon will tie it's cp to your cp. that is wrong. I evolved my 102 eevee at about 3 trainer levels above when I got my Jolteon and it only went to 230 flareon. Effectively worthless to me

Fair enough. Eh, I just wanna try this game haha! :)

While I agree that section is worded strangely, it's incredibly rude to say someone fucked you while trying to make a helpful guide for the community.

Could've said that nicer.

Yes, that is correct. Any time you spend fighting gyms is wasted essentially in terms of rewards if you've already collected on what you have for the day. You'll still get plenty of XP from these battles but by the time it's time to collect again, those gyms will almost assuredly be conquered by a rival faction.

Had a good time chatting with people on uni campus at 11 o'clock at night today. Seriously, someone drops a lure and people just appear out of thin air.

17 mile bike ride as 0.2km because this fucking speed limit, there's a bike in the game for crying out loud. I also have a hard time keeping the app open, my phone inevitably hits a button or something and changes apps or goes to sleep. I leave it open in power saver mode and I still have trouble. You think they could do this in the background.

I'm reading that section in the guide, and I'm not really sure what he means by it so I won't agree/disagree. What I will do is tell you exactly how evolution affects CP.

Look at the arc above the Pokemon. For our example we'll say that the dot on arc is right in the middle. When you evolve it, the dot stays exactly the the middle of the arc. Its the CP values that change. And the max CP increases along with trainer level. What you would see if you leveled up like 50 levels is that the dot in the middle of the arc would gradually go towards the left as the CP ceiling rose higher and higher.

tl:dr you weren't fucked

We desperately need the ability to run the app and turn the screen off and have it buzz for notifications.
