Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

hehe. I'm thinking:

-What state does the game need to be in to work with the Go Plus? Suspended, screen off, battery saver, fully on?
-How can it catch Pokémon with one press when catching even with a very accurate throw is not guaranteed, and items like Razz Berries come into play?
-Does it track steps itself or not? This actually isn't mentioned in the description but it seems like a very commonly-repeated feature.
-It's using Bluetooth LE (so your phone must have that compatibility), but is it otherwise compatible with all Android and iOS versions?
-Rechargeable and using what plug standard?
-Will there be official skins for it that indicate what Team you're on because if not THIS IS A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR IDEA AND I'M TAKING IT

Ah yeah, I was going to write a section on it a little closer to release/when we know some more about it.

Wow, sorry for the late reply. I go away for a bit and an extra 50 pages happen :P anyhow found this; https://youtu.be/qqbsdqjgj-k?t=1291

Got the developers there talking about Pokemon Go Plus, and Treehouse members asking about it. But yeah it is just a way to play the game without getting your phone out. They emphasise that they want the players to walk around and explore surroundings without looking at your phone all the time.

Quick summary from what I heard them talk about it:

- It will flash green and vibrate when a Pokemon is nearby.
- Press the button to attempt to catch it.
- If successful, it flashes rainbow colour.
- If it flashes red, it means it was a failed capture.
- You can also grab items using the Pokemon Go Plus.
- When the device is on sale (end of July), you can buy it through a button in the game itself which then takes you to your region's online store. It will also be available in retail stores.
- Shigeru Miyamoto says it will be $34.99.

To think we had this info at E3 :P

If it says there's a bulbasaur nearby how do I catch it? Just walk around?
Yup. Look under it on the tracker and notice the footprints. If your headed in the right direction they will eventually lower from three to two to one then zero, at which point he should pop up on your screen to catch.

Unreliable because of location specificity. What's rare in one place can be in abundance everywhere. We've seen that already when one person complains they never see one Pokémon and another says there's so many of it they're sick of them. That drop from Rattata to Meowth to Magnemite is a joke and completely wrong.

The most common from my own play is definitely Zubat, followed by Pidgey. I've only seen a single Meowth and that was this morning.

there's a nidoqueen lurking around my house

she better just come to my house or else

Don't take that chance!!!!

Wait wait wait wait it has an easy mode for catching Pokémon where all you have to do is press the button? Holy shit I want it now

Gastly showed up outside my place. :O First one I've seen. Will probably go for a late night walk after the gym, but I have to finish working first. ; ;

Is there a reliable way to talk to the devs at all? Have they said anything about the deadspots at all?

Nope. I've been trying to contact literally anyone about the fact that there aren't any Pokémon around me, and definitely no stops, but most I got was a form response unrelated to the issue and a promise they were getting back to me. Last I heard anything was about 3-4 days ago. All the interviews and stuff that've happened over the last few days haven't had anyone mention it at all.

Went on a Pokewalk and stumbled onto an after hours class full of women learning how to strip.

Life just reached peak anime

Made friends with someone playing, had a nice conversation, added them on Facebook, and now I've seen them post multiple times about poser girls playing Pokémon Go. Why you gotta ruin my faith in humanity like that.

This is the perfect kind of functionality for an Apple Watch companion app. If ever there was a game that screamed Watch app, this is it. Yokai Watch can suck it :P

Well, this sucks. Wish they had a forum or something. A ton of people I know can play right from their house and have pokemon show up and I have to walk for a long time before seeing anything. I can't play in my area without incense or a lure somewhere. Everything is 3 footsteps away near my place.

App is slowly starting to lose its appeal to me if I am at constant disadvantage.

lol I saw that

I want so desperately to know what team the person who made it is on, and why it's instinct
only a loser would have this mindset

must be an instinct trainer
Why would it be Instinct? We're holding our own pretty well.
yeah hirokazu I read that in ralph wiggum's voice

If it hasn't been talked about yet, there's a growing movement on fb called The Lugia Alliance, with chapters forming in different states. It's a really neat way to cool down all the faction hate.
Oh yeah, is it neat? IS IT? WHAT TEAM ARE YOU ON

I should hope everyone understands that the faction hate is a lighthearted rivalry and all in, as they say, good fun. Everyone playing this game is obviously all on the same "side."

It took exactly two minutes of me walking down the street after beginning the game for someone to give me shit for it. I live in a small town and was walking down a residential street toward the nearest monument when some redneck opens his door, shouts "PIKACHU, I CHOOSE YOU" at me in the most mocking hayseed tone possible, and slams his door back shut.

Already deleted the game. Nobody blinks in the city if someone is walking down the street with a phone because a hundred other people are doing it at any given time. Doing this on an empty street, especially in Trumpland, just makes you look like a freak or turns you into a target, apparently.

I guess the game was fun for the whole minute before I suddenly had to relive my entire childhood worth of being bullied for liking Pokemon. Oh well.
Hey man, if you happen to read this...

I've been bullied fairly severely before, sometimes for being focused on nerdy pursuits, sometimes for not liking the things I was supposed to like, sometimes just indiscriminately. I won't say that I know how you feel or anything like that, but I can relate, and what really gets me is you saying that this event caused you to relive your childhood, where you liked Pokemon and that made you an oddball, a target for bullying. Because guess what? It isn't your childhood anymore.

I bet you anything, anything that what that dude is feeling right now, maybe for the first time in his life, is the sensation that he's the outcast, he's the one that isn't having fun with the new big thing. He may not be an outlier in your immediate town, but globally he knows that right now he's a fucking weirdo. Something he thought was lame is cool now and he can't take it. So maybe that did make you a target for his dumbass outburst, not because of what you like, but because he saw a chance for a second to pretend like it was the good old days when stuff like this was just for nerrrrrds. It has nothing to do with you.

So you already deleted the game. That's fine. Keep it deleted, or reinstall it. but just make sure you're doing whatever the fuck you want to do. Not whatever the whims of some obvious, jaded asshole dictate.

lame, they were definitely serious? what a douchey and bizarrely not-thought-through thing to post about after adding people from the game
They emphasise that they want the players to walk around and explore surroundings without looking at your phone all the time.
I really approve of this. I like the stretches where I'm able to hunt or navigate without my phone being the focal point. I think the idea that a "mobile game" doesn't have to be synonymous with "game played entirely on your phone's screen" is compelling.
LOL. Alright fine.
On the real though I can chill with Instinct any day. It's the Valor around here that make me sick :D

Damn ok I got a bunch of pokemon when I went to grab dinner tonight!!! I found me a Bulbasaur!

There apparently was a Vaporeon around, but I could never get him to show up. Maybe tomorrow!

I dunno about that device. Even exploring, I still like to look at my phone as an overworld map of sorts...and it doesnt hurt that im really into AR.

spent most of my day walking around my downtown area, met some cool people, some fine ladies exchnges phone numbers and other contacts (PSN/NNID/XBL)

supposed to meet up again tomorrow and get another lure party going on; their's on spot when there's like 3 pokestops in like a 100ft radius! they're we like 20-30 people gathered there!!

Nintendo has a HUGE hit!! even bought me a portable charger lol

(now I'm gonna holler at some of these ladies!!!)

EDIT: also walked into a goddamn pole!! also dropped my phone(no damage...thanks otterbox!!) the woman looked at me and said "I hope that wasn't because of that Pokemon game!"

Can someone explain to me what's the best way to determine which pokemon is stronger? This curve stuff with CP is confusing.

Here's how it works

CP is the pokemon's strength in combat

the higher the better

The little curve tells you how high you can go based on your level - if your little dot is near halfway you've got a lot more you can go to make it maxed out on CP

If you're near the top, you need to level up more to make the pokemon stronger.

The higher the number the stronger it is. Think of the curve as an exp bar. When your fully white it out it has reach max strength. To further get them stronger increase your player level to raise the cap.
