Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

GG Pokemon Go, you made me buy a new phone already. That Moto G 4th Gen on Prime Day sale was a nice price and now the camera will work! Android 6 as well, which will be a very nice upgrade.

What bums me out more than anything is that I'm having a tonsillectomy this monday and will be stuck in bed for at least a week, possibly two. Gonna get left so far behind, and I just took over my first gym today!

That's the phone I preordered last week with same deal and it showed up today. Nice huge phone and I haven't done it yet but it's easy to get the Amazon crap off and have it stock.

Haha feel better it could always be worse! These amusing hunt stories will keep you entertained.

There's a big pub crawl in Cincy Saturday evenin as well if anyone local.

Edit: Saturday sorry

Holy fuck!

This is a game changer.

YO I TRANSFORMED MY 4TH EEVEE AND GOT MY 4TH FLAREON

FUCK THIS SHIT

All were different levels and had different movesets and weights what the fuck is this shit even

Heard a theory that it might have to do with which team is holding the gym closest to you? Sounds totally crackpot, but you bet your ass the next Eevee I evolve is gonna be next to a blue gym to try and get my Vaporeon and complete the set.

No it's just bullshit. In only pings that green when you get closer/further from a pokemon or a new one is added or dropped from the list. That's it.

I literally did it at home and watched my list ping in 4 different directions. People do this getting some coincident encounters lol. I'll stick to my list tracking and order of reference

The first time I think red team controlled the gym across the street. The next 2 times blue team definitely controlled it. This last time yellow controlled the gym.

Man. I got 15 miles today of walking and running.

And I had a full 8 hours at work too.

Wow nice work! I've been trying to make it work with biking and it's just not happening. Did 13 miles on Sunday and it only registered about 3km and did 17 miles today and it registered 0.2km. Today's was more aggressive so my speed was too high. 9 Holes of golfing (walking) Monday though hatched a ton of stuff.

I really hope they can maybe tier the distance traveled thing so my biking counts, I'm not gaming the system or anything. Like if you are between 12-20mph (which biking typically is) maybe have the distance traveled cut in half or third. Seems silly to disqualify it with an arbitrary 12mph limit.

Aliens will finally make their presence known solely to play this game.

So the tracking thing is a myth. Great. How the hell do people farm pokemon? I'm assuming they're farming them anyway. How else would you get all eeveelutions? You'd need at the very least 150 candies right? Even if I find a stop with an Eevee, the Eevee seems to disappear for a while.
When I am "farming", I'm standing around at a Pokestop with a lure on it. Otherwise catching Pokemon is basically just walking around.

No reason to stand still in one spot attempting to farm what you think is the spawn location of a particular Pokemon unless it's a Pokestop with a lure.

So do gym's reset every so often? Cause all 4 behind my house reset. Which means...

I promptly got overridden by some guys we passed on the way back, and apparently they just got wrecked by those dirty reds. But I'll take my defender bonus :P

BREAKING NEWS: SUPERIOR TEAM INSTINCT DEFEATS DIRTY REDS AND RE-TAKES GYM!

Also hatched a shellder, VERY excited

So I evolved one of my Sandshrews that had Mud Shot and Dig. The game decided to give the Sandslash Metal Claw and EQ. RIP, Arcanine-killer. D=

Can anyone tell me if that's even decent to keep upgrading, or should I try again? I have enough candies for 1 more evolution.

Thinking of getting an American account to try this out.

Your progress is linked to your account, right? Meaning when it finally gets its official release here in Canada, I can log in and continue no problem?

CP is strength. Higher CP is the stronger.

Also two people diiiid answer you on the page you asked ;)

Maybe i'm not explaining myself well. Are all Pokemon equally strong? Like, if I catch 2 random pidgeys and level them all the way, will they be equally strong? Or is it like real Pokemon games where some pokemon are just stronger than others? If there are differences in Pokemon strength, how can I tell?

Like I said It worked for me and a couple of others in here but it could be coincidence. As far as farming goes my girlfriend catches multiple dratini and dragonair in the same spot everyday on the way to work. She leaves at the same time everyday and they are always there but not when we go back later. I have a spot in my complex that seems to pop something good once a day around 5pm and 11pm. Abra, ghastly, dratini, ivysaur, and warturtle so far when I have checked.

Does anyone else find that they get rarer Pokemon at night? Even just in my nearby list, as it gets closer to the evening I'm seeing more evolved Pokemon in my area and Pokemon I normally wouldn't expect to find in my area (the Seel, Seaking, and Koffing from earlier, for example).

Yep it happens to me too. I tend to find ivysaur, gloom, growlithe late at night,

Pokemon can also have different moves that will give you an edge on Gym battles vis-a-vis type matches

I wish there were higher step requirements on the eggs. Maybe some that were especially good which required 30+km. I think that would give people a good feeling of accomplishment. Imagine hatching a 100km egg and getting some % bonus of extra CP for that Pokémon compared to what you'd normally be limited to for your trainer level.

Nah son. we don't want people complaining about how long it takes. It's supposed to be a kind of surprise while you're doing the usual biz

I'm not saying all the eggs should have requirements increased. Just throw a few rare ones that take especially long to hatch. I feel like right now it's too easy all the time.

I normally walk about 10 miles a day and so the egg rewards feel ungratifying. I want to feel like I'm working toward something significant.

Maybe in an update, but I see it as you being more on the hardcore side of the equation so things are going to be easy regardless.

I might agree if the game didn't cap your max movement speed for egg hatching so low

If I'm biking or even jogging at a fast rate it doesn't even register

Well fuck, someone took my gym and it's too late to go to the park and take it back.

Guess I'll take it back tomorrow morning.

Yeah that definitely could use some work :/

I wonder if the Go Plus is sophisticated enough to tell the difference between jogging and biking versus driving a car. Like a Fitbit or something. That would be nice, I think. Ignore the speed limit as long as the user is exercising somehow.

So...I didn't install this until today because I simply don't give a shit about Pokemon. I haven't since I played Pokemon Yellow many years ago.

Thought to myself 'I gotta see what this is about'

Colour me shocked. The game is simple but incredibly fun. I had a hockey game tonight and half my team was running around the rec center to get to the pokestop, and there were about 20 other people there doing the same. Met a ton of strangers.

Went for a walk later and caught 7, saw a whole bunch more people and even had a couple of nice conversations.

I don't know how this thing will turn out, but it's a very smart idea that I'm shocked took this long to be done in a way that captures interest. It's also an amazing social phenomenon that I haven't seen in a long, long time. I expect this will be written about and discussed in the future by many areas of study.

I wish it factored in accelerometer data so you didn't have to actively have the app open the entire time. I walk 5-10 miles a night at work, and since I can't have my phone out it's all for nothing. They could knock the Eggs up to 5/10/20km for all I care, if they make that one change.

It's a public page on Facebook. I don't know any of those people. Anyone that goes on there can see it

While that may be true, it's still a privacy concern imo. You're posting a picture with the name of someone without their consent. They essentially gave the okay for that page to display it, but you're re-transmitting that information without their consent. You also could have just as easily linked to the event rather than taking screen shots of the page.

Just dropped $10 of Google Survey Rewards on PokeCoins. Gonna buy a lure and drop it at work tomorrow and see who comes round :P

Just turn it on batter saver, flip upside down and keep the phone in your pocket?

Rock and Ice

At this point then...steel probably isnt that worthwhile. Unless you've got a Golem that just wont budge... I guess Dewgong or Jynx.

I agree, but is it possible for you to leave the phone on in your pocket while you walk? I've done that at work since the game released. I don't play the game while I'm working but I let it do its thing in the background.

Obviously not the most convenient option, but it gets the job done.

What fast attack doe she have?

Just checked and she has a Bug Bite 6. Seems kind of pedestrian, but maybe it's just a really fast attack? All I know is I battled about 4 or 5 other mons and I was beating ones with 50% higher CP than me.
