Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

You are not wrong. I'm a pretty damn good shot but I wasted nearly 30 balls on some flying guy last night with 500+ CP (I'm an old man who knew nothing of Pokemon before Saturday and am nearly ashamed at how hooked I am at this game). I would almost say it curved the ball with the flapping of its wings.

Probably a zubat. The general consensus is: fuck zubats

If it looks like a bat I wouldn't bother

Cool but you realize patrons could buy modules themselves for 50 cents-1 dollar...

You underestimate how much cash on hand there is at bars and the convenience of just handing the bartender a bill to lure that shit up. Buying the modules yourself uses your credit card and a lot of people would rather hand over a dollar bill then go through the process of buying more lures.

Buying the module literally involves nothing more than swiping my thumb

It's actually less effort than handing a bill over

Just found a good way to get pokeballs, found a spot in my house that JUST reaches the pokestop behind me and i set my phone on the floor there, every 5 minutes I go collect my items lol. Hopefully the GPS doesn't spaz out and my guy won't move.

Same here, next to my workspace. Excellent.

And good for you, you're like me. You aren't using the service.

And you wouldn't need to buy lures anyways because someone else already bought 30 minutes. By giving cash to the bartender.

So, I visited 4 PokeStops on my way to the office and now I have 4 eggs. I'm supposed to walk 20km to hatch them? I'm never gonna open those unless my car conmute counts.

You are given a free infinite use incubator, but you can buy more or get some by levelling up. I've been able to hatch 4 eggs at once.

That's cool I just find the concept of paying a bartender for a lure weird as hell

There's like 50 stops within a few miles of my house and they are constantly sportin lures...the thought of paying someone a premium for nothing seems weird

Question that's probably been asked a dozen times.

My sister wants to play Pokemon GO but it hasn't been released here yet (at least I can't find it in the Dutch play store). So I want to download the APK for her so she can play. But can the APK be updated when it releases here? Or will she lose all her progress once the game releases here and she downloads it from the play store?

Progress is tied to account, not app data. And she'll be able to update it from the Play Store.

Let me clarify, most coffee shops or bars who know of the game have lures running 24/7 out of their own pocket

I actually posted about this earlier in the thread. I think it's genius

Hm so the tutorial tells me to catch a Pokemon but doesn't show me how. I've tried tapping on the Charmander it shows me, but nothing happens. How DO I catch that Pokemon?

EDIT: Ah, it needed my GPS signal.

GAF, i have been stocking my stardust and plan to use it only on strong Pokemon that will be usable in the long run.

is Scyther CP 515 will last long or it will be pretty mediocre?

Alright gettin in the groove of things and collecting lots of shit. Got to level 5, but every poke gym has a trainer with Pokemon at like 800 cp. So I'm guessing don't bother battling just keep collecting? Highest Pokemon I've found is like 145 cp.

Should I upgrade Pokemon yet? I noticed I can find the same Pokemon but with higher cp immediately than another. Should I only upgrade Pokemon with base high cp? Do I find higher Pokemon the higher level I am?

In the long run? Mediocre

Gyms fucking suck in this game currently so no rush

Avoid upgrading atm and DO NOT evolve anything

Wait until you get to lvl7-8 to get a lucky egg, then you will evolve every pidgey/rattata you have for a ton of exp

Also the pokemon's CP will naturally increase as your trainer lvl goes up, don't worry about it atm

Well that's a mark of success then

So, how close to a PokeStop do I have to be to reap the benefits of a lure module? I got a coffee shop next to one where I live, but it's sort off across the street and I doubt it's close enough for me to get items from the Stop.

No clue, was wondering the same thing

Got a few questions I was hoping people might be able to help with:

1) Is it best to evolve Pokemon first and then power them up, or vice versa? Or does it make no difference?

2) When you have a duplicate unevolved Pokemon (that can evolve), is it best to always just transfer the one with the lowest CP? I was wondering if you get anything extra for transferring Pokemon with higher CP. I know if you have a fully evolved Pokemon/Pokemon that doesn't evolve, it can sometimes be worth keeping one with lower CP if it has better moves.

3) How do you guys determine which Pokemon to place in gyms, which to challenge gyms with, and how much stardust/candies to invest in each Pokemon? How do you decide how many Pokemon to split your resources between? Do you pump one up to be a powerhouse, or try to make an even team? If so, how many strong Pokemon do you tend to aim for?
