Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

If you get the frozen Pokeball glitch I suggest waiting a bit (maybe like 10 seconds). I've gotten the glitch quite a bit but after waiting and then restarting the app, it shows that I actually caught it. I dont know if its the same for you guys

im getting freezes on everything. Cant even open pokestops right now.

I still don't know how to time a perfect ball throw. Is it when the moving circle's in the center of the bigger one? Or when it's smallest? Or when it's biggest?

The coloured circle is your target. Throw when it's at it's smallest, it's hard to hit perfectly, but it gives the highest chance to capture.

Has anyone lost eggs? I had a 10k egg incubating and was at 9.8/10.0, so I went for a little walk. When I got back the egg was gone, the incubator was usable, and no hatch! I walked 10k for nothing??

Happens to me frequently, but if I check my Pokemon, usually it actually did hatch and just didn't tell me. I was scrolling through them today, and went, "Where the hell did I get this Voltorb?"

Has anyone got a trusted/verified Android apk link?

I went to APK Mirror but when I went to install it asked me for permission to view contacts etc. which I heard was a red flag?

Edit: For the new version.

Caught a Squirtle at the end of my lunch shift, so that was nice. Also got quite a bit of walking done!

Yep, this happens to me quite often. If you think an egg has disappeared, sort your Pokemon by recent and odds are it's there. Also happens sometimes that you'll see the Pokemon before it hatches.

"Huh, I didn't catch a Psyduck... *goes to main menu* *egg hatches* oh."

Left work to take a short walk and get some fresh air - aka catch a few pokemon.

As soon as I get far enough away from my office someone pops off a lure at my office's Pokestop. I get back from the walk and have server issues. Can't catch a break (but I can catch a million Pidgys)

Okay I admit I was intentionally vague to get someone to ask.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAvNoTe1xjg (go to 12:50)

Right after 12:50, see when Pidgeotto attacks the borders of the screen go yellow? At that point you have like 0.3 to 0.5 sec to dodge, and you'll take zero damage. If you battle the same gym several times in a row and consequently the same pokemon, you'll be able to learn the timings of both normal and special attacks (special attacks often have a bit of a delay from the text appearing to the yellow flash).

Use the pattern of dodge -> attack -> dodge repeat or as many attacks as you can sneak in, because remember you can't dodge while you're attacking. Depends on which pokemon you have out and who you're facing. For example my hypno can only ever attack once between dodges, while my arcanine vs a hypno could just barely get three attacks in.

If you do this correctly you should take little or zero damage through a gym. Today I beat a level 6 gym with CP ranging from 400 to 1200 with my 800 hypno without ever using another pokemon.

Thank you! Will try it out next time :)

Thanks guys. One more question:

How important are having XL Pokemon? I have a 100CP Charmander that's normal size and a 50CP one that's XL. Same moveset. Should I focus on powering up the weaker one or is it not that critical?

It doesn't affect anything. It just adds character.

Seriously?? omg

Yeah, they don't really matter much beyond the "Oh that's cute, it's a small Onix"

... there are medals related to size, etc. of certain Pokemon though. Like a Youngster Joey to catch Rattata under a certain size, I think.

EDIT: At least, I think this is the case... I could be wrong. Someone correct me if I am.

I can tell when America has free time cause them servers die.

I haven't gone hunting much but when I do its in my area/neighboorhood and all I see are freaking weedles, pidgeys and rattatas... Ugh. I feel like I'm so behind everyone else right now.

I'm level 20 and that's still all I feel like I find.

As you level up, you might see different Pokemon. A good tactic to leveling up quickly is to catch literally everything, stockpiling up on candies of various kinds. Once you have a ton, see how many of that Pokemon you could evolve. Pop a Lucky Egg and start evolving those Pidgey, Weedle, etc. You'll get 1000 XP per evolution. (2000 XP for an evolution into a Pokemon you don't already have.)

Walk around to different places and at different times of the day. That matters too.

The problem is when the server fucks up after catching a pokemon, but the pokemon broke out of it. Since the server froze, you didn't see it happen and thus you don't get the pokemon you thought you caught I think.

Sometimes I've had the server screw up and still get the pokemon, other times nothing.

Anyone else have a guy character yet the medals say girl in the name? Or the opposite? Seems like my profile glitched out and reads me as a girl.

No. Battlegirl and Punk Girl are trainer archetypes form the game, just like School Kid and Bug Catcher, which you should also have medals for. That's normal.
