Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

what i would like to see in an update:

Daily log in rewards that increase with consecutive days.
first log in of the day gives you a 5 minute incense effect
custom messages if you use a lure on a pokestop that people can see if they click on the stop

create a ''hunting party'' with others that expand your characters area of effect on the map if youre in close proximity with other team members of the same color.

I kind of get the "less pokestops" in rural areas in that it's based on ingress, but the lack of wild pokemon is just.. It's just super weird that there are a ton more wild pokemon in the cities than out in the nature.

That said, I really like the game, but I do hope they add pvp and trading to keep the game from getting stale and adding an additional element of gameplay. Maybe even turn based pvp (if real time is too much work).

Back when collecting pokemon cards, battling with them was also an option, so it would be awesome to be able to do it in this game.

Have we discussed anything about the frame rates on different phones. I have an Xperia Z1 and the pokedex animations seem to be at a higher rate than friends and family on Galaxies and Notes.

Pokemon placement has to do with pokestops/gyms. Got too far outside of their area and it's devoid of pokemon. I've also noticed they try and keep them from spawning near highways.

I don't know if it's because I'm in Norway and downloaded an APK from third-party, or if it's because I'm at a busy airport with shitty Wi-fi, but I'm having hella trouble getting this running.. doesn't matter if I'm on wi-fi or 4G mobile. It worked for like 30 minutes, but it's hanging up a lot and doesn't get the GPS location half the time. I look like I just spin in circles. The airport irl it gets and there are a lot of PokeStops here that registers, but walking around does not work.

Are the servers crazy today or am I shit out of luck until it releases here for real?

I ran over a 12 year old kid while I was catching a Pikachu while driving to the closest gym.
I called the ambulance and waited for them to show up. The kid was unconscious, but his phone was on. I was going to at least get some pokeballs for the poor little guy from a nearby stop, but then I stopped. This little shit was on team valor. I told this to the EMT and he stopped trying to stabilize the kid and he died. We left his body near the Gym in front a nearby church... not so that he could have a proper funeral, but rather as as warning to other Team Valor people. Do not fuck with Team Instinct, and stay the hell away from our gyms.

The game should make urban dwellers go into the wild to find anything but Ratatta. Everyone knows the cities in Pokemon games are chock full of exotic/rare monsters.

Does logging in sometimes have kind of an Incense effect?
Because I swear sometimes closing the app and opening it makes pokemon spawn that weren't there earlier

I've noticed that when I start it up it takes a bit before the GPS properly homes in on my location. I think it's accidentally giving me extra range before it figures thing out.

Ya, that's what most of the "3 feet but I can't find it pokemon" seem to be I think. Don't trust the finder when you first open it up, it'll just get your hopes up.

Once the servers settled down and my phone was able to reliably send and receive data, I saw a lot more pokestops in my area as opposed to when I first was trying to use it. I don't know if they added them in over time or if the servers were just on fire so much that I couldn't see what already existed. Was able to get past level 5 finally and decided to see what the closest gyms looked like (team underdogs of course).

1600 CP, Level 20.
1400 CP, Level 18.
1200 CP, Level 17.

Oh right, it's a grind based mobile game. Not sure why I was expecting anything else so that's on me. Not sure that the game has that much to offer in terms of content for more casual users like myself but I can see why kids on summer break would go nuts over this and be at those high levels already.

Okay what the Hell? Is the game running absolutely awful for anyone else today? Was great last night. Today every Pokeball freezes and I can't use any gym. =S

Pokemon seem to spawn at my exact location on the hour, every hour (and up to like 10-15 minutes after that). My partner found the same thing at his work so it's not just my location. I think it's designed that way so you still find Pokemon occasionally even if you're not on the move.

I think there's definitely predetermined spots where pokemon spawn. At work there's generally always one in the same area in the car park.

Finally reached level 5 and joined team Valor. Latest catch was a Slowpoke :)
Have 16 now, and it seems that I'm gonna have to do a whole lot more levelling before I can take on the gymmasters :/

Also, will I be able to keep my progress when I d/l the game from the Appstore in my own region? I'm using a trainer account btw.

So at the moment when I try to catch a pokemon. The game gets stuck after the pokemon sits in the pokeball. Is this a server issue?

That's a pretty common bug (server issues I think). Normally, you just have to quit out and restart, and maybe you'll have caught the Pokemon. But today, a new Android update came out, and for the first time, I was able to flee from a frozen Pokeball, then rejoin the fight and successfully capture it. Not sure if that's a fix or just coincidence.

Guys, exercise common sense as you play. Don't play and drive. Watch where you're going. You can't look at your phone and play this at the same time. Don't feed yourself the "I'm a good driver, I can do it" bullshit line while actually making the road unsafe for yourself and everyone around you. If you drive while playing this, you are a fool, a clown, and very probably Team Valor.

Vaporeon pops up so I go out and unsuccessfully look for it. Also discover a lone thunderstorm is developing near me. Probably just a coincidence.

When was the last time a Nintendo game hit zeitgeist level exposure like this? People completely far removed from video games are talking about the app .

Hoping to God Nintendo fosters this attention and keeps the momentum going in their favor. Would hate to see this game become a fad especially if they start updating the game really infrequently. DON'T FUCK THIS UP N

It's weird how so many people and even generally informed websites associate this game with Nintendo. Nintendo had nothing to do with this game other than owning some shares in TPC.

Is it true people can't see each other's Pokemon nicknames at Gyms?
Not even a word filter or something, but straight up no nicknames?

Bums me out if it's true.

FTFY

And correct, was in a car today which almost went off the road cause the driver, like me, who lives in a rural area, found a pokestop and decided it was worth taking and almost ran us off the road.

Plis don't be that driver. It's unsafe and I'd rather walk home
to hatch my eggs

This is untrue. Iwata and Miyamoto were both involved with it. There was an interview with a head Niantic guy on Gaf a couple days ago were they discussed having regular meetings with Miyamoto. Nintendo also owns a lot more than "some shares" of TPC. They invested in Niantic on their own, in addition to what TPC invested in Niantic. Nintendo also owns many of the Pokemon trademarks, such as Pokemon names.

I just gave up trying to train the local gym. If servers were fine I would have leveled it up in ten minutes but I walked now after standing there for 45 minutes trying to get this to work. Got it to 7380xp out of 8000 before walking. 95% of matches wouldn't initiate past 'GO'.

So I evolved my Eevee which had Swift in its moveset expecting Vaporeon, but it evolved into a Flareon instead. I had assumed the way it evolves depends on what that move was. Swift = Vaporeon, Body Slam = Jolteon, Dig = Flareon. :/

Now I dunno which Eevee to evolve next because I don't want another Flareon :( halp

My girlfriend's city is a Go wonderland with stops every 30 seconds and some so close together that there are 24/7 pokego parties going on with 4 lures at once at the same park.

My area is a desolate wasteland with one stop within walking distance and two gyms. Nothing but rats and birds.

I can basically only play this game when I go to visit her.

Sounds like true love. I think you should move in with her.

The moveset thing is false. The evolutions are random.

I got badly beaten at the gym. 9 of my Pokémon died. I couldn't do anything against a Lapras. :(

And it lagged and the connection were bad, so it was impossible to time my swipes to dodge ugh.
