Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

It'd be neat if there were like different tiers for a gym depending on your level. 5-9, 10-14, etc. Kind of how it's implied in Pokemon Origins.

Right. Already I am falling behind. my highest CP pokemon is at 700 and I already see gyms way way beyond that. You just need a few diehards around town to really make a huge discrepency. I hope it's something Nintendo thinks about because I will probably lose enjoyment of the game if rewards for time playing overshadows everything else.

I remember reading somewhere ITT that incense doesn't go off what's in your nearby list but just spawns new pokemon altogether. Does that mean you should save them for higher levels when rarer pokemon might spawn, or does level not affect rarity?

- Go to local park to walk my dog and play Pokémon Go
- Have 2 women in their 60s see me and say "hey is that puppy gonna help you catch some Pokémon?"

Shit is sureal man that people like this are even aware of exactly what the game is. Crazy

Also met about 20 other trainers there.

And people were saying its not on the Wii level yet lol

What a time to have only enough battery to take a screenshot to document my sadness.

Time to invest in a portable charger.

Wonder if they'll change higher evos to transfer to 2/3 candies instead of 1. Makes sense to me. Wonder if I should hang onto these Dodrios or drop em.

How many pokemon does Incense usually bring out for you guys? Popped one a little bit ago and it just finished and it spawned five pokemon. Curious if those of you in metro areas experience higher spawn rates than that with Incense.

I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE MY TALENTS TO

Good choice. Time for fierce, competitive, fun battles against Valor :)

3) ~19 minutes
4) ~14 minutes
5) ~09 minutes
6) ~04 minutes

Had a really fun day today.

Someone set off 3 lures at different stops next to my office, so two of us went outside to see what we could find. Met up with 4 guys who were playing the game and we talked about it and had a system where we would tell each other what was nearby so we could catch it. Got a Dratini and some other stuff.

Later on went to the pub and set off a lure myself. 5 minutes later there was a group outside all playing it on their phone.

Used my lucky egg to go up from level 11 to 14, and now have a 800CP Hypno.

Well the city is no joke. Central Park is Pokemon GO headquarters and every single block has a pokestop with a lure on it. Huge groups of people playing at every block.

I think it was causing the game to be more unstable than it usually is. I had to restart the app after every other capture due to how many times it froze up.

Generally 5, 6 if I'm lucky.

Edit: ^^^ That's awesome.

I went to the city tonight. Holy shit. I wasted my time running around the suburbs. :( The craziest thing, even though it was 1 am there were SO MANY LURES!

Damn. Excited to get back. Hopefully in two weeks the servers get better.

Looking forward to going to Central Park and Union Square this weekend to see how crazy it is. Central Park is the perfect place for this game. Huge natural open space to explore while still having access to internet and pokestops!

Well, I had been experiencing some server issues, but never anything that bad. Longest outage was around 10 minutes, a bummer, but not a deal breaker. All stuff I could work with, until...

I feel you bro, lost him to server crash and haven't seen him since. Feels bad.

I just noticed this about the Pokémon Go Plus from the official website...

Once a Pokémon is close, press the button on the Pokémon GO Plus to throw a Poké Ball. You'll only be able to throw a Poké Ball using Pokémon GO Plus if you've caught the Pokémon before. The Pokémon GO Plus will flash and vibrate to let you know if you were successful in catching the Pokémon.

This shit is kind of useless to be honest.

Union square also at all hours even midnight, so packed couldnt even walk through the stairs.

Went to use an incense and it didn't work decided to use my last one and it disappeared. Did I accidentally delete it? I didn't get a notification.

Yeah, to the point where it feels like there is no point. Even with some stops near me that I won't run out of balls, I'll never catch enough pokemon to grind my way up to the insane cp numbers all the gyms have at this point.
Once you get to the 20s the EXP needed to level is absolutely insane. There most definitely is a soft cap.

I think the whole device is strange. How does it communicate which Pokémon you've encountered? CP? Does it let you drop berries before attempting the capture? If it doesn't do these things, does it reduce a Pokémom's escape chance on its own? If not it's merely a trinket that offers crippled assistance and provides no awareness of your actions.

So what is the consensus on a good phone for this game?

I want to get in on the action and need a new phone so why not now.

Suggestions appreciated.

Seems like it would be really useful when driving though.

Which is another reason they need to remove the ability to catch Pokemon and pick up items from Pokestops when travelling over the speed limit they've already set for egg distances.

I've still got a OnePlus One and it's doing well enough.

Battery life doesn't matter for me though because I picked this up: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X5RV14Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20

My level is too damn high to not see ANY good pokemon

I've been seeing the exact same mons for the past few levels

no diversity whatsoever and I'm driving out of my area ugh

Someone needs to go to Disneyland and report back. Ingress at Disneyland is absolutely nuts, portals EVERYWHERE. I'm assuming Pokemon Go is the same since it uses the same assets.

What is considered "high level"? I keep seeing people suggesting to not waste stardust until you're a high level.

I'm halfway to 18 and feel like I need to spend it in order to keep up. Just powered my Vaporeon to 1233.

Question! If the screen goes off, is the game still running to where it will vibrate if a pokemon appears?

went searching all over for this guy but always stayed on 3 prints :(
I had an Abra last night, and I swear this fucker was following me. 3 prints wherever I went, in any direction. By end of night I was a mile away from original location where I first saw him, and still 3 prints. Damn you, Abra. I never did find him.

So how do you raise the CP of Pokemon? The power up option requires one of those Candies, so that means I can't raise my Squirtle at all. =(

Went out to a local trail today with a roomie that has a bunch of pokestops along the way. We chat up a few other trainers and make our way along the trail and eventually come near a town hall with a bunch of cop cars parked out front. A voice behind us as we pass it inquires "you guys find anything good?" We turn around and see a cop with a big grin, he seems genuinely excited about it. Since this was our first time doing this spot we didn't have much to tell him, though heard from another trainer there was a Horsea around the local Starbucks. He wished us happy hunting and we went on our way. This game. Such a warm communal feeling that just fills you up, and the exercise and being in parks makes it all the better. I haven't felt this exuberant for the total experience from a game in ages. Just marvelous.
