Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Is there a consensus on like, anything? I swear every time I read something it gets disproven an hour later.

Fair enough. I guess if there was any IV like system we probably wouldn't figure it out in the fist week.

I kind of like how a community has banded together to figure out the rules and how the game works. But on the other hand it's infuriating how the game gives you almost no information.

Is anyone else having a problem where the game completely freezes after catching a Pokemon? Been happening to me since the update.
It happened to me with the first couple, but then fine afterwards. Luckily those were common pokemon I didn't care about.

Tonight has been crazy. Nothing but wild chase one after another. Got golbat, bulbasaur, blastoise, exeggcute, and fearow making me go around my hood like a madman.

Has there been any consensus on what the weight and height affect or is it just flavor text?

I'd assume it was flavor text if the game didn't go out of it's way to let you know when your pokemon is either extra big or extra small.
Taking a page from Monster Hunter maybe? Hunting for "crown small" and "crown large" monsters is a thing some people do when they've basically exhausted all 800 other hours of content of the game.

Pokemon Go has done a really good job at making me appreciate certain Gen 2-6 Pokemon that I didn't necessarily give enough respect.

I'm sure you guys are feeling some notable omissions--for me it's Ralts, Togepi, and Electivire.

I also wish we had some more variety in generic fodder, because Pidgey and Rattata are getting old. It would be so much better if we had all of the rodents, birds, and bugs.

Agree with you. Been through it with the original 150 too many times and it feels odd knowing how many pokemon are omitted. I wish they had at least added in the evolutions for all the original pokemon. Would love to have Electivire and Steelix right now.

So i'm reading everywhere that the Gym Bonus is every 21 hrs but i took over a gym and became the gym leader and decided to train 5 times to raise the prestige. Afterwards I noticed that the 21 hr timer went down to 16 hrs after only 15 minutes of battling there.

Just tested this pretty thoroughly and it doesn't appear to be true. No abnormal change in my timer after training at the local gym from prestige 2 to 3.

Just spend 30 min solo grinding the gym behind my house to level 4 to dump my 1019 Flareon on it. That was grueling but I'm getting good at dodge timing. Also Machoke has this bullshit two hit combo that he always opens up with but I never remember about.

After hitting 22 I'm realizing all my hard work is being beat by an unfair advantage. My home is a dry spot. There's a safari zone (park) that acts as the border of my neighborhood. It's taking all the Pokemon that I assume would pop up in my neighborhood. My whatsapp chats are flooded with what my friends catch while sitting at home. And here I am looking spooky walking through someone else's neighborhood for a bulbasaur.

I wonder if they can add a blanket layer over the map that guarantees you'll at least get something to spawn no matter your location, while more dense areas get higher counts, stronger levels, different types.

Not calling you out, but I'm confused about what's unfair.

How do you farm them?

Always catch them. Always.

Hmm I wish i had done screenshots :/ I was even showing my bf who joined the gym with me and his timer was clearly 4 hours longer than mine at the same time.

Also feel free to farm Weedle and Caterpie. They require 12 candy to evolve as well.

I used to farm Rattata but I've realized that's a waste of Pokeballs. And damn you don't want to be wasting Pokeballs in this game.

Went to Trivia tonight at a pub and someone popped a lure nearby. EVERYONE started talking about Pokemon, older tables around us and everything. Ended at 10:30 and got my wife to go walk around with me and there were hordes of people out playing and being super excited. 10:30PM on a Wednesday night! Caught a Hypno with a group of 15 people and everyone was stoked. This is so much fun. Wife is super into it now too, which is fantastic for me.

We spent the next half hour trying to track down a Machomp only for him to elude us!

People were out in the rain under umbrellas earlier, straight outta work in full suits, catching Pokemon. Something about all this just makes me so happy as a gamer. I'm seeing so many peoples inner childs awakened by this, it's just a super awesome experience.

As a person that suffers from severe social anxiety, this game has been a godsend for getting me out of the house and socializing with random people. Made my first venture out with some friends today and had a blast chatting with people I would never have the ability to talk to otherwise.

Eh so it goes. I don't have a stop at my place either, so I do what I can.

You're level 22 so you already get high as hell CP Pokemon.

Yeah. I have my friends completely beat. My legs are shit and my feet hurt. I just wish the game didn't end when I get in my neighborhood. Dudes out there with pikachus in their toilet.

...I want one...in my....toilet :(

If anyone lives in Cincinnati, Earlier today I caught an Arcanine, Jynx, and Bulbasar near Procter & Gamble towers. The Jynx was right at the front door. Went there for a work event. Wish I normally worked downtown, lucky bastards.

Mistakes were made. I went over my handlebars yesterday.

Got that Clefairy.

Lessons were learned.
wear a helmet :L

The screenshot i posted above is from this old historical school museum, it's like basically a preserved schoolhouse from the turn of the century, I had no idea it was there before tonight. And it's not around anything else. But fuck if there weren't 30 people chilling and wandering all over the site of it at 10:30 because of those lures.

And now I kinda want to go back during the day and actually visit the museum, lol. I can't believe how close it was to my home.

that's so awesome

Man its a bummer because one of my favorite journalists is just talking mad shit on people that play this and calling them losers. To be frank it's really hurt my opinion on the guy. That's some bully mentality shit.

I'm convinced this game hates me. I can't find anything by my house and every pokemon I find has super low CP even at level 7... It's rare to find one over CP 50 while all my friends and coworkers are around 400+....

Nice! I might have to try that sometime, haven't really had any friends in a while mostly due to medical issues that might finally be resolved soon. Seems as good a way as any to meet people if you don't know anyone.

Squirtle popped up 1 footprint away earlier. I make a mad dash outside and find it on my corner. First Pokeball fails. I use a razz berry and try again. It runs away. That little shit can go fuck itself.

Hard to deny that a small but nonzero percentage of people in all of our lives are revealing themselves to be sort of joyless in the wake of this thing. I can EASILY understand not liking it, but seeing so many people enjoy themselves is basically something I always love no matter what it is they're doing as long as it doesn't harm others.

For the first time playing this game, I felt awkward in a setting where tons of people were playing.

I don't know why I felt so awkward. I felt I was intruding on people. I know I wasn't.

What's weird is that I'm usually sociable. Dunno why I wasn't today.

I hate everyone with a Growlithe/Arcanine with passion. My favorite Pokemon and after almost a week and more than a third of the Pokedex done I have yet to even see a Growlithe outline on my radar...
