Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I hate everyone with a Growlithe/Arcanine with passion. My favorite Pokemon and after almost a week and more than a third of the Pokedex done I have yet to even see a Growlithe outline on my radar...
I would come fly to your house and trade you for sandslash
It's time.

Also, again, does anyone have any recommendations for a portable charger for an iphone 6 plus?
do you have any capacity or price range you're looking for?
I can totally vouch for the 3 anker ones in the FAQ. like this one midrange: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X5RV14Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Squirtle popped up 1 footprint away earlier. I make a mad dash outside and find it on my corner. First Pokeball fails. I use a razz berry and try again. It runs away. That little shit can go fuck itself.
I know your pain. I've had two Squirtles bail on me today.

Hard to deny that a small but nonzero percentage of people in all of our lives are revealing themselves to be sort of joyless in the wake of this thing. I can EASILY understand not liking it, but seeing so many people enjoy themselves is basically something I always love no matter what it is they're doing as long as it doesn't harm others.

Yeah that's my main issue with what he's saying. He's not saying he doesn't like the game, the man is outright calling people who play losers and making fun of them. If it was someone else I would just ignore it but I really look up to this guy in a lot of ways from a journalistic sense and this just bothers me.

I normally ignore this stuff but he's done this several times including on his Live Chat saying people that play it are losers who don't do anything else in life. It's pretty pathetic and is changing the way I look at the guy

my local college has them caught two today. ask a local facebook group where people have caught them in your area.

The screenshot i posted above is from this old historical school museum, it's like basically a preserved schoolhouse from the turn of the century, I had no idea it was there before tonight. And it's not around anything else. But fuck if there weren't 30 people chilling and wandering all over the site of it at 10:30 because of those lures.

Yeah, that's happened to me several times. I'm stumbling across PokeStops that I've never taken notice of before and am starting to enjoy and appreciate my small city even more. Our small businesses have been all over it since day one. Our local Record store and some bars/restaurants have been pumping out lures non-stop.

Such a hard feeling to explain. I'm on cloud nine seeing people out and about and enjoying themselves, taking a part in a hobby I've enjoyed mostly privately for so long.

I feel ashamed of myself. Asus Zenfone is not supported since its Intel based... So I went and bought an iPhone SE and am loving every minute of this...

Shame... Shame...

Yeah it is hard to explain but I nonetheless know what you mean. I've been reigning in my hyperbole as much as I can honestly. I've practically been grinning nonstop for the last week.

I hated it until yesterday night, when I realized it wasn't trying to be an actual game just with microtransactions to siphon money from children through gambling--primarily, it's just a fitness app. Edit: What was posted a bit up there from that MMA dude looks like your standard nerd-shaming most of us grew out of in college though.

Also, I saw how many Pokestops you have around you in that screenshot you posted earlier, and I hate you. lol. I've only found one in my city. So unfair.

I'm not super high level, and I don't know if these are rare, but I made a killing along a creek today after work. This is sorted by recent catches. In the span of 15 minutes I had caught a Meowth, Seel, Squirtle, Tauros, Dratini, and Slowpoke.

Didn't catch a ton of Pokemon today during my walk, mostly to try and avoid any more Zubat or Mankey.

I did manage to catch a couple of rares, though.

Caught this Tauros [333 CP] after following the footprints.

And beforehand caught the almighty Heli-- I mean, Omanyte [371 CP].

Downside, running low on Razz Berries, need to gather more tomorrow.
Wasted 30 minutes searching for a Pidgeotto, which I would have assumed would be very powerful since it was so damn hard to find. I just said screw it and head home.
And my recent 5km egg was another Ponyta, though it was close to 700 CP, so it might evolve into a very powerful Rapidash later.

I scrounged enough coins for a Lucky Egg before I lost all of my Gym claims, but I didn't use it yet since I was worried it would be wasted from server issues. I'll save it for a bit later since I have some Pokemon that are set for evolving soon.

With that said, here are my strongest mons at he moment.

Dratini alone is worth the walk, man. Hella rare

Dear Jim_Cacher

The servers are struggling enough, please wait.

No thank you

Best Wishes
A Human Becoming.

I totally understand about the server situation, but.. damn, the waiting is brutal.

Today, there are many people on reddit saying they saw others who are complaining about Pokemon Go on SNS. I don't understand why some people are not happy because others are enjoying themselves. If they are not happy about the game, they should give legitimate arguments instead of calling others losers and saying they should get a life. We humans treasure discussions and conversations, but not sentimental accusations and criticism. If this guy was really concerning about people's safety, how about give some warm advice instead of mocking people who were actually getting robbed. It is horrible to see that victims were being mocked instead of criminals being condemned.

Posted this in girlgaf but thought it was worth sharing. :)

My boyfriend has anxiety and is a recovering PTSD sufferer from his time in the military. He's quiet and while he's social, he definitely avoids a situation where he has to meet new people. My man can be shy and very social with those he's comfortable with. But he's also a bit hard due to his time in the military, so his direct nature can sometimes be off putting to people he tries to socialize with. It doesn't help that he's a big guy who is 6'5. So he seems super imposing. Watching him play Pokemon go and talk to strangers is really helping him out and coming away with more confidence around strangers and social situations now because of if. It's really nice and inspiring to see. I also think it's really adorable. I like him a lot and it feels great to have feelings for someone like this again. :)

So how does one capture higher CP Pokemon?

Lucky eggs.

Has anybody else had the issue where texts wouldn't go through while playing pokemon go? There are several texts that are sent from friends, but I never receive. And all sent while I was playing Pokemon.

Man I'm in that unfortunate spot where it night time and I want to play so bad but am out of Pokeballs and have a bit of a drive to hit up any Pokestops :-(

I'm gonna go hard tomorrow and try to get a ton of Pokeballs. Maybe go to the Zoo. People are saying they are getting 200+ balls from there

It's not a fitness app so much as a "get your ass out of the house" app. I would love it if I were a parent honestly. I want more than anything for my kids to 1) not be afraid to go outside in their community and 2) want to do so rather than ONLY sitting in front of a screen, and I say that as someone who spends most of his own time in front of one.

PoGo is really a game best played by physically going to a location in your area where other people are also playing it. If you can get there by walking or riding a bike, so much the better. If you have a group that is willing to wander around with you, perfect. But there are lots of ways to play it and it appeals to plenty of people both children and otherwise.

I think an ACTUAL fitness app using mechanics that are similar and relatively thin gameplay, without the stunning social aspects and nostagia factor, but more tracking capabilities and support for way more exercises (including in-place cardio, strength training, endurance training, etc) would be pretty awesome. Even the stops actually existing in reality (the data from Ingress) wouldn't be necessary for such a game, but it could be awesome for motivation. I hope other people who are actually developers have been thinking about the different directions you could take this technological framework.

Did a lot of catching today, REALLY need to refill my Pokeballs. Thank god where I'm going to dinner tomorrow there's 12 Pokespots in one little area.

I'm sad to say I left my house at midnight tonight while I was lying in bed to look for a 3 foot step away Electabuzz. And by sad to say I really mean not sad at all.

Only thing I don't like is that you don't have unlimited pokeballs. I know that is how they plan to make money but it sucks that people in cities can easily have 10 pokestops within a minute of each other and drowning in pokeballs and I have miles between mine and am constantly running out. I've stopped catching all the Weedles and Pidgeys near me but that has slowed down my leveling too.

Lucky eggs.

What? No. Lucky eggs only double the amount of EXP you receive. They dont boost the CP of a Pokemon.

And also, for tracking down a Pokemon: if it's 3 steps, head in a direction. If the Pokemon noticeably moves down the nearby list then turn around. If it goes to two steps then stay in that direction. Basically repeat this until it gets down to two steps and then one step and then you find it.

If there are people playing around you, it can also be extremely helpful to just ask if they know where a certain Pokemon is. Chances are, they're probably looking for it or had looked for it too.

Was sitting in the McDonalds drive-thru waiting on a McFlurry. Decided to check Pokemon Go while waiting there and it generated 3 Venonats in the parking lot. Had to hurriedly try to catch them before the McDonalds employee noticed.

The shame!

(Couldn't catch the ???CP Cloyster that showed up tonight, though.) :(

How much of a distance is 3 pawprints? there is an exeggcute nearby and beforehand a Magmar

I've heard about a kilometer. This isn't super daunting though. As long as you can get it down to two steps or one steps then you'll be fine. Usually, it's getting out of 3 steps that's the hardest part about these hunts. Everything else from there is much better.

Couldn't agree more. All of the Facebook backlash is uncalled for. Some strangers are having fun, while the vast majority are not bothering you. Move along with your life. Let them play without judgement, and I'll not judge them on what I think doesn't seem like fun. Live and let live, brother.

Wow thanks for the clarification and the tips. :)
