I don't know if it is still relevant, but during beta the max distance was 200m and the shortest was 20m.
Tonight a Dratini popped up on radar on our way back from the lure-enduced park. My spouse was able to catch it, but I was standing on its location and it never popped up; not even after reopening the app. Next time, I guess.

The coolest thing about this game for me is just the little thing that happened to me today as an example.
Me and my wife went to the park with our dog and hung out outdoors all together for an hour or 2 instead of just sitting at home. I actually talked to some random strangers and found out what Pokémon they like and what team they are part of.
The game is helping us get out into our community and say hi and learn a little bit about total strangers. That's pretty damn cool in my book

I was in the gas station just now and some guy ran in and yelled "Pokemon people we got a pikachu across the street" and 4-5 adults dropped their shit and ran across the street"

I was at a field yesterday with my dog. There was about seven people on their mobiles walking in different directions.
I was on my way home from work and saw a bunch of people sitting around in fold out chairs playing the game and when I got home I decided to go across he street to a park where there is a sign that's a pokestop and two people came over and were doing the same so we chatted a bit. More people must be figuring out how to get it in Canada.
My friend and I were sitting at a Pokestop across the street from a police station and watching a gym being constantly fought over. No one but us outside, so the players had to have been in the police station lol
Planned to go out for half an hour around the block but ran into some friends and ended up being out for two hours and a half. It was a nice time. :3
I'm still too shy to do this! Need to get over that. D:

What do you think high energy coupled radiation will do to your phone? Couple to the antennas. Where do you think that coupled energy goes? Into your cell phone chip. What happens when you get high voltage/power into chips not getting it?

Cool, yeah that sounds about right! 200m is ~600 feet right? When I posted I was thinking it was "a couple hundred feet" but I can be bad at gauging distance so just rounded up to a quarter mile.

I want neighborhoods to be happy to see pokemon trainers rolling around town, lol. Anything nice you can do while you're out, if you're playing this, you're sort of part of a gaming community that participates more in the real world than on forums or a screen. We are NOT anonymous in person talking to one another, even without introducing ourselves. I hope especially as time goes on, the people who keep playing will try to maintain a reputation for people who play the game being pretty respectful type persons on the whole.
Just got back from a pretty cool experience. I live in a small town, there are very few Pokespots here, I see a Lured spot at the local gym that was closed with an outside track and go there and one by one more and more people start showing up until there was around 30 of us. It was really cool seeing people come together like that.

When does Stardust become more scarce?
If it's an Abra I just assume I got one shot and that's it. Honestly I think it really depends on the species. I haven't noticed any warning signs.

Kicked off my first time with Pokemon GO tonight during my regular two hour + walking route, already almost at level 4 and hit up four Pokestops, great fun so far!
Probably the one iOS got a day or two ago. Revoked some app permissions it didn't need and didn't use (seeing contacts etc), and some general bug fixes Niantic wasn't too specific about.

So what's the stategy for evolving pokemon? boost them to the curve limit then evolve? or evolve them straight away?

basically if you're trying to be as efficient as possible, what you actually want to do is stockpile your Stardust until you REALLY catch something you want to raise up.
The best catches are ones that already have their CP bar close to filled in, because they won't take as much stardust to level.
But evolving before or after powering up doesn't really matter.
edit: Yeah their attacks change too, make sure you check it before powering up something you don't want!
Ultimately doesn't really matter. Wherever the CP is on the curve is (% wise) is where it will be when it evolves (or that's what people are saying anyway). I guess it would be marginally better to boost them before evolving, since the Stardust cost increases with CP. But then you're wasting candies you could be saving for the evolution which gives a CP boost ANYWAY, so unless you're talking about super common stuff like Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata etc it might be best to save it for the evo.
This is a really good point. As powering up starts to cost 1000 stardust or more a piece, stardust becomes a more and more valuable currency. Probably not wise to throw it around on low-tier Pokemon.

There's no way they will be able to manufacture enough Pokemon Go Plus devices to keep up with demand. I wouldn't be surprised if they will go for over $100 a pop on the secondary market for many months
Evolve straight away. You might not get the attack combinations you want (they change with evolution) so it might be a waste of stardust and candies.
funny you should mention that. Been thinking a lot about the role the go plus is going to play in all this, lol
This is why I'm kind of (but not really) hoping it goes down in popularity.
