Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I don't really see the Go Plus taking off, tbh. Does it do anything other than work as a glorified push notification? I don't see many people shelling out for that.

It'll be a novelty niche product for sure but they'll definitely sell enough to make a tidy profit

Snorlax was on my nearby list, first one to the left, 2 feet showing. I moved 5 feet to the left and poof, motherfucker vanished. So pissed lol

This is why I'm kind of (but not really) hoping it goes down in popularity. :P

I guess it's possible for it to decrease in popularity as quickly as it rose, but I highly doubt it will. I just got back from our local downtown area and it was packed tonight with Pokemon Go players. Never seen anything like it. A city policeman drove by slowly to patrol the area and in the passenger seat was another cop who was playing pokemon go. He was trying to catch a Golbat, he said.

So yeah, this game has already reached an unprecedented popularity. I think it's here to stay for some time, and I don't think the popularity has plateaued yet.

We'll see. As far as demand and profit goes they don't have much to worry about.

But I wonder if it will be a little more widespread than that. I was talking about them with someone and I was thinking about how there should be skins for them that identify what team you're on, and at the time I was thinking that was a million dollar idea and I should get on it

But they already exist: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/112054287514?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_noapp=true

Personally, I still don't quite get how it works from the descriptions offered so far. Catching pokemon is a very different experience from just "yes" or "no" when using the app. But we'll see how it all shakes out.

So what's the stategy for evolving pokemon? boost them to the curve limit then evolve? or evolve them straight away?

It doesn't matter. Basically wait until you stop gaining trainer levels all the time and find the highest level, base pokemon in the wild and evolve that one.

Very happy with my Pokedex seen/caught number so far. I know people that are in the level 20's (I'm level 16) and don't even have over 50.

My vaporeon lasted 20 hours on a gym, my longeat record so far. Getting a bit boring now at lv15, grind is too slow and too busy at work to hang out at a lure spam area

I hope they can get some solid updates in near future.

Probably never happen but random pokemon battles with random people near you would be awesome lol.

Eventually, I see myself only playing casually when on walks instead of actively trying to get as much play time during the day like I am now. Even then, I think it'll still be a lot of fun to just try and catch as many pokemon as possible with the occasional gym battle here and there.

Just got back from an awesome gym battles. Team yellow here, buddies and I took one out of like 6 nearby gyms before all these reds and blues started to come take it back. Spent an hour or more just defending that gym... Looked like we were about to lose before a group of people came and sat their ninetail, snorlax, dragonite, and two lapras... Before we left they had defended over 25 battles...

Spent four hours downtown with some friends tonight, got from level 10 - 14. There's three pokestops you can hit without moving that are constantly lure'd, another one ten steps north, and then another four about 50 feet away. With 3 more in between the two clumps. And a local bar with multiple convenient outlets that is also a pokestop.

My legs hurt. :V

Also: What's with the gold sparkles that cause your ball to curve? Is that the effect you get for throwing a "curve ball?" Cause, I was definitely not going for those. They seem to happen way more frequently after popping a Razz Berry. I think I burnt about 30 balls on a Jynx because of that shit.

Ok so that little meter by the CP reflects the max CP? so once it reaches the end that specific evolution of the Pokemon cannot increase anymore? and if I evolve him the evolution is at the same spot of the meter?

That was significantly more eventful than I expected. Make a late night run to Taco Bell and open the app since I have to go through residential roads to get there. 3 new Pokémon caught (Seel, Staryu and Squirtle the little shit) and a 5km egg hatched with Cubone. Should have popped a lucky egg....

Max CP is a factor of your trainer level. A Pokemon at max CP will be able to power up one or two more times each time your trainer levels up.

I have never maxed out the CP. A Pokemon powers up when that happens?

So let's say the same Pokemon is at 50%. They will theoretically have the same CP?

if the meter is full , the next time you level up you should be able to power up that pokemon more. its based on your level

Just got three 10km eggs all within 30 mins of each other. I think I'm gonna incubate them all at the same time for 3x the rarity goodness when they hatch!

So, the Arcanine I got from evolving has 2 fire type moves. That means he's kinda useless vs other Arcanine. I don't get a lot of Growlithe in my area. =( What would you guys do? Level him up anyways or wait for another chance at an Arcanine?

Just went on my first walk, on a steamy Michigan night.

Caught Rattata, Raticate, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Caterpie, Weedle, Meowth, Geodude, Drowzee, Venonat, Venomoth, and some others I can't remember. Started with Bulbasaur. Used both of my incense.

It's a lot of fun! I think I realized a way they could add more Pokemon without making it hard to get candies, though. Basically, you'd just increase the candies you get for duplicates, and/or reduce the evolution threshold.

It'll be nice if/when they add more 'mons so that the generic fodder is more varied.

And I really want to find a Cofagrigus. But he's not in the game yet...

Forgot to mention earlier, there's a park near me that is absolutely infested with Charmanders, and thusly people trying to catch them. Right before the park closed at 10pm, a park ranger was saying out of his vehicle's loudspeaker, "Pokémon GO players — reminder that the park closes at 10pm." He didn't address us as "park-goers," but instead "Pokémon GO players."

And there were still a lot of people on the trails in the dark, too. I love it.

Not sure which one of us is misunderstanding the other here, let me reiterate.

Say you're level 5 and you have a Pidgey with his CP meter all the way to the right and his power is 50 (making up numbers here). When your trainer is level 6, the Pidgey will still be 50 CP but will be able to be powered up 2 more times with stardust because your trainer leveled up.

Someone made the observation that the trainer max level is 50, and every time you level up you can power up a Pokemon twice, so it's like the Pokemon has a max "level" of 100.

Pinsir is rare enough that I probably won't regret stardusting him up, right? How much CP do you get per power up?
In a way I almost prefer the Pokes without evolutions because you don't have to stress over saving candies on them and can power em up as much/little as you want. Have yet to regret powering up my Taurus, I imagine Pinsir would be similar.
You get ~30 CP per power up, but I'm sure there's different variables that causes that number to fluctuate.
