Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Has anybody managed to get the nickname change through the main website to work? I've sent like 5 requests but all keep coming back with delivery failures after a day or two :(

Misspelled my name like a jackass on day one from excitement, and I REALLY wanna fix that before I implode from OCD.

similar to me, except pidgeys, and i cant catch anything at home :'(

Ah thanks.

So catching the same type of pokemon nets you more candy, so if I transfer it and get the 1 candy, I don't actually lose the candy I gained from when I caught it, right?

Otherwords, there is no reason to hold onto the identical pkm?

Yeah, so when you catch a Pidgey you get 3 candies. You need 12 candies to evolve one into Pidgeotto, so what you'd do is catch a few more Pidgeys and have them transferred so that you can collect more. Catching takes precedence over anything else in the game since that's the only way to get your Pokemon to evolve and power up.

Hope your name isn't already taken by then. Seriously, a shitload of names have been taken.

quick question regarding pidgeys/caterpies/weedles:

Is it better to evolve 4ish weedles to kakunas, or go from 1 kakuna to a beedrill as far as XP is concerned?

cheers dude

Interesting, does this "pulse" look any different from when it pulses without selecting a pokemon to track?

I don't know what to tell you but my fiancee and I tested it for about an hour last night and found no correlation between the pulse and which pokemon we were actively tracking. The pulse would occur while facing different directions with the same pokemon selected.

Even with nothing selected we would get the pulse and every time I checked the list after a pulse it had changed in some way whether it was the order, one leaving or a new one showing up.

All i know it it pulsed whenn i was facing north, walked north for a bit and a haunter appeared. Wasn't looks at the phome had it in powe sleep mode upside down.
So it could've luck to

That's what I experienced too. I just kept spinning and could get the pulse to occur in multiple directions without moving.

I don't actually know how anyone can confirm the pulse-direction thing "working" rather than just having happened to pick the correct direction, it doesn't give any unique feedback.

This is real though:

Since you can use the whole tracker at once you can basically get relative positions for all of the Pokemon it shows little by little, and I was able to track multiple things from the bottom rightmost corner all the way to the top left and then catch them (or in the case of an Eevee, realize it was over a fence into someone's private property :().
Yup yup. Keeps all your stuff private (if you're not comfortable linking them), and if there's ever a breach in the future, safe~

Question: Are Jynxs considered rare? I saw them on that egg chart in the 10km section.
heya hiro :> They're rare in certain areas. I have barely seen any down here, except there is one park I know that is absolutely swarming with them and you can catch them left and right.

Yoooo there's an Exeggcute 3 footprints away from me.

Do I dare wander around the neighbourhood at 1am to get an extra 100 or so CP for my Exeggutor?

Yep, game server probably down.

The ones that can't evolve. Pinsir, Scyther etc.

Pokemon with no evelotion. Like kangaskhan

Gotcha. Thanks, guys. Jynx certainly seems to be ubiquitous in this town, though.

The very theatrical ones.
Single-stage. No evolutions.

Danke. I like the idea of them being very dramatic. :)

Wish I could trade them for other ones I'm missing!

Read that the game is made with Unity.

Pokémon GO seems in so many ways unlike a traditional Nintendo/Pokémon Company software project:
  • First of all its on iOS and Android.
  • It's core functionality is based on massively-multiplayer real-world GPS queries.
  • The second pillar being AR functionality bringing along great photo opportunities.
  • Data-foundation is basically crowd-sourced (from Ingress).
  • It's Free2Play with income solely based on in-game purchases.
  • Third-party middleware game engine.
  • Mainly developed by a US studio which is a relative newcomer and partly owned by Google.

Is it possible to get ???CP pokemons?

Gotten bunch of nice almost as small as it gets circle and it gets out on the first no matter what. Even gave it berry.

I was chocked by how many stops and gyms Borlänge, Sweden had. While sitting at the library I saw loads of people running around looking for the gym right outside. In 20 minutes it changed hands thrice. Master race team blue held out in the end.

Saw people all ages hunting Pokémon. Was real fun :)

Think I counted Four gyms just around where I was.

Need to try that as well. Name+numbers just looks weird but everything was taken already (for whatever reason).

Solutions to Pokeballs and Pokestops, to stop people from rural areas/small towns to quit the game:

1. Introduce Mini Pokestops. Mini Pokestops will pop up just like the Pokemon do on the map. Mini Pokestops will only give you 50 % of what a regular Pokestop will though. So instead of getting 4 items, you will get 2 items. I am not a programmer, but I suspect this would be an easy solution with easy logistics and medium balancing. Make it so that the Mini Pokestops will pop up at a steady rate if there are no regular Pokestops around, and less so if there are Pokestops around.

2. Introduce Daily rewards. Give players who log in a daily reward every 24 hours. The higher level you are, the more items you will get. So if you are level 3 you will, for example, only get 20 Pokeballs and a couple of Potions and Revives. At level 16 you will get Great Balls and Super Potion. Just a few though. If your bag is full, you will be able to do some item management, where you can delete items, and choose what do take from the daily reward list.

3. Introduce an infinite amount of regular Pokeballs. At later levels, you will begin to exclusively use Great Balls and Ultra Balls. Why not just make it so that the players will eventually have an infinite amount of regular Pokeballs. Let us say at level 12, when you start getting Great Balls. Or better yet, scrap that, why not just introduce it permanently, from level 1. People living in cities basically never have the problem of running out of Pokeballs, so why not just make this equal to everyone.

Well, this is shit.

Not even shocked, there'll only ever be pokemon in the cities, fuck the rest of the UK

Feel bad for my older brother. My sister in law put up a snap of him saying something like "he better not be playing fucking pokemon",and also saw a facebook status from her a few days ago saying "This Pokemon Go stuff is freaking stupid." Definitely probably giving him a hard time about it.

??? just means that its CP is higher than any of your current pokemons, it's definitely possible to catch, you were unlucky on that one :/

Time to break up

I think it'd be a really smart business decision to give people the option to buy temporary poke-stops and place them wherever they want as long as there isn't another stop within the spawn radius. Like, maybe 12hrs for $5 or something like that. I know if I had this back in high school, I'd totally pay that to hang out at a friend's house catching pokemon.

It showed up again since the app crashed. Got it with a Nice tiny circle throw.

599CP Golbat

About that CP half circle around pokemons you got, what does it mean? CP cap?

That sucks. I didn't know we could change it though so look forward to hearing back in 6 weeks if it doesn't fail to deliver. Thanks!

It's sadly the truth. I live in a smaller metropolitan city of about 100k and I have to drive to the park if I want a good concentration of pokestops and gyms. I've still had a ton of fun just walking around my neighborhood catching pokemon but I regularly run out of pokeball.

To get the most out of this game, you really need to live in a big city.
