Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Yeah I think it's pretty amusing that we've got this stuff again.

It's hard to manufacture it in this day and age, what with the internet.

I had a friend laugh at me for not realizing that the gym battles are real time battles with actual human players. She had read it in an article. I love all this misinformation going around. I actually hope they add more vague features in future updates instead of explaining them.

Got this game yesterday since it works on android N now. Walked around with some coworkers in a restaurant/bar area. I have to force close this app so many times because it'll freeze up and I can no longer click on the map.

How does the distance work with eggs? When I was in a car it didn't seem to count. Can it tell the difference? Is it based on location or movement of the phone (walking vs being on a treadmill).

Also having to constantly having the app open is annoying.

Caught this bad boy in the Universal Studios Hollywood lower lot by Jurassic Park. My girlfriend was able to catch him, too. Once we find some Dratini, we can begin facerolling gyms together, haha.

There's a speed limit so using a car to hatch eggs doesn't work. I'm not sure what the limit is but it's pretty low.

I can't see this thing being helpful unless you can set a threshold or something. I don't want it going off everytime I pass a pidgey or rattatatatatatata.

So you prefer to have to look all the time look at your phone with having to chance to get into accident and look like a creep to none pokemon go players ? Your choice.

I've heard the limit is 11mph and also heard it's 12.4mph. It's definitely at least 11mph because I've crawled my car (in residential areas) below 11mph and it's counted towards or hatched an egg

I can reach a pokestop from inside my house, does that mean I will never run out of pokeballs?

Basically. Lucky SOB, haha. Also stupidly easy to take full advantage of Lures while in your home.

Has it even be confirmed that the Go Plus will work while the phone's in standby/the game isn't active? I mean, it seems obvious but then again one would think it would also be obvious without the Plus.

do all pokemons of the same kind have the same cp range and you just find more or less leveled versions of them or do they all have different ranges?

Same kind = same CP range. If they're not at the cap, they'll vary by small amounts, but not really enough to make a noticeable difference.

What I don't understand is when people talk about CP/evolution and having no preference to the option. But someone here mentioned having a 400cp Evee that got into the 1k range.

Maybe I'm just over thinking this.

Is there a benefit doing one over the other or not?

thanks!
so a pidgey I found with level 1 can become as strong as the one I find with level 15, I just need to invest more stardust?
there are no pidgeys that have a bigger range?

3 foot Haunter outline shows up. Rush outside, server starts fucking up. Restart the app, can't logon, can't logon, can't logon, logon.... no Haunter. Why do I even try?

"Look like a creep" seriously? Everyone and their mom is playing this game.

Sounds like a ripoff, tbh. The app should be handling a lot of things on its own, but somehow it doesn't.

Aye, as much as i love the app, it seems like that is purely a cash grab.
It'd make sense for the app to tell you these things and / or at least utilise smart watches.

But eh, they're gonna milk it for what its worth and people will buy them.

Not seeing many pokemon here tbh. The pub was full of zubats

Oh well not lucky on that front then. But the stop is pretty good since unless I'm wrong it will still give you xp every spin on top of the items (just 50 but adds up), so whenever you're home you can still use that time instead of most of us, just when we're out and about. ;)

edit: also having a spot where you can get many of a more common pokemon is also not bad xp wise, from what I'm seeing.

It's my understanding that it's multiplicative when you evolve, with a random +/-. I can't say that's right, but it seems to fit all of my evolutions. I don't think you screw yourself though, as the "weight" of the pokemon seems to skew whether it has higher CP or more HP. I *think* if you evolve then max a pokemon, you can get to the same theorhetical max as if you caught and upgraded an evolved pokemon of the same size.

It all depends on your Character level, as to what your max CP/upgrade ability for all of your pokemon though.

Anyways, I got 2 pikachus already this morning after chasing one around for an hour a few days ago, feels good! I've also stopped trying to catch every 'mon I see, as I was constantly running out of pokeballs and razzberries.

No more:

-Paras
-Zubat
-Mankey
-Ratata
-Ekans
-Pidgey

I have one of each evolution level of all of those, and enough candy to upgrade them probably into my mid 20 levels. It was a great source of extra XP to just evolve the lowest level ones, but most of these guys are coming up 200+ CP and orange to the regular poke balls, it's just not worth burning 5-6 balls and a few razz's on them when I still have so much to catch.

Basically, if your pokemon has a low cp meter, it will stay low even after evolution. That meter is going to require stardust to power up, which is a valuable resource. Try to save/evolve pokemon you catch with a naturally high CP meter.

So many glitches when playing. Extremely frustrating. And Pokestops taking forever to load. The worse is more often than not, when I catch a Pokemon it freezes on the pokeball and it's random if I caught it or not when I restart the game. Also have to load the game 5 or 6 times before it actually loads.

People, would be nice if you also posted the route you walked or the distance from Google Fit or the like, comparing it with before. There were a lot of successful stories about people getting thin thanks to these kind of games.
