Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Nearby tracking seems borked. First it was empty and now none of the mons are closer than three prints. Tis frustrating.

Are there any rough guides out there as to when you should start powering up and evolving?

Seems like I've seen a lot of people say that it's pointless in the early levels because you'll eventually just stumble across higher CP versions in the wild.

Only just hit level 7 so I'm not exactly ready to take town gyms left, right and centre anyway.

Asked that question earlier and someone said level 20 is when you should start feeding/evolving because at that point, levelling up takes too much time.

Who makes money of this game. Nintendo or Niantic?

Well Niantic definitely makes money, as well as The Pokémon Company International. As far as first hand, direct cash-flow from the game goes, it's the two of them. But then Nintendo, Google, GameFreak, and Creatures Inc. are all invested into the game, Niantic, and/or the Pokémon brand/TPCi in some way or another, so they're all getting something/somewhere/somehow.

Went out with my brother yesterday and this thing is incredible

I live in a small town and seeing so many people outside catching Pokemon was mindblowing. And cruisin' around and trying to catch ones is way more fun than I expected

Really cool little app with tons of potential

Probably a dumb question but should my phone vibrate when a pokemon is nearby, even when the screen is locked? From reading other posts it seems so but for me it never happened. My phone only vibrates if I have the app open and the screen is on. Do I need some specific setting? I'm on Android/Galaxy A5.

When the screen is locked, then the game does nothing

Tell me your secrets!

No really, what's the best way to level up fast? What brings this sweet sweet experience points to rain on me?

Hold on evolving Pidgey. Catch lots of Pidgey.

Go to a place with two or more PokéStops with Lure Modules. Add Incense. Activate Lucky Egg. Evolve all your Pidgey. Catch all the Pokémon.

Save your fodder pokes to level them up in one go (caterpie, weedle, pidgey, etc), time your egg hatches, find a popular spot with lures (mine had about 10 stops bunch together and most had lures oh and only a couple a miles from where I live. It was like a memorial site or something), and then go crazy on lucky eggs and poke stops and catch mons like crazy. I've been playing all day is why the gap is so huge but you can get 2 levels easy every lucky egg.

Catch all the common street trash you can for candy and wait to evolve a bunch at once while using a lucky egg. 1000xp each time will fly through levels pretty quickly.

Just asked Cortana:

Just started this morning. Only got 1 pokemon so far during my brief time with it on my commute, but it's a pikachu, found it on the train it was on. That's good right?

So uh, Nintendo is trying to sell a cheap piece of plastic with vibrator, blutooth chip and light for $35? GTFO. I was interested but it shouldn't be a dollar over $20, more like $15.

wow,the only gym i managed to be in (as a gym leader no less) has reached lv 7
seems to be the more prestigious around here

now if only i had other good pokèmon :(

Havent used a lure yet but going out in a min going to use a lucky egg, is a lure better than incense or about the same? Is it better to use both lure and incense together?

I know it's a garbage deal but I still want it. There should be a smartwatch solution.

I believe they are about the same, average a Pokemon every 5 or so minutes. And yes, they stack.

Can I call this "dumb design"?
I mean it makes sense when you out for Pokèmons or gyms, but it's a total waste if you are just hatching eggs when taking a walk.
If you want your game to do anything while having the screen off, you'll probably have to buy the pokemon watch. For Ingress, there's a small application for smartwatches that give a few advantages, like showing you a timer for hacking, knowing which portals are near, etc. They could have done much more (like showing portals you haven't yet captured).

A serious warning for anyone playing with AMOLED screens (Galaxy, some Nexus, etc): You might get your screen burned in a few months of heavy usage (two or three continuous hours per day) especially if you use a high level of brightness (as in, if you play at midday). Try to keep automatic brightness, and if you can dim the screen, do it. LCD-based phones (LG Gx, etc) don't burn the screen as fast as AMOLED. The main problem is the bright green/blue color they used for the HUD in Ingress, which is similar to the experience bar and the circle around the character's face.

It's 5:30 in the morning. I have work in a few hours. Do I dare?
I used to leave home at 10:00, reach work at 11:00, out at 17:00, home at 18:30. During serious Ingress gaming phase, I left at 6:45, reached work at 12:00, left at 17:00, reached home at 21:00. I walked up to 25km a day.

That same guy probably believes you can pick up your missed pokeballs. Way too many false rumors... Dear God it is red/blue all over... Welp back to holding down + B to catch easier.

Things became much crazier. I have two pokegroups in my town with several hundred members, they go masshunting tonight to a spot which reportedly has seen 100 pokemon you cant see anywhere else.

The trolling is strong in this one.

I wonder how many Android owners will buy the GO Plus without realising it's iOS only?
Compatible Smartphones:

Pokémon GO Plus will be compatible with iPhone 5/5c/5s/SE/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus and operating systems iOS 8 – 9.

As of July 2016, the Pokémon GO Plus compatibility with phones using the Android operating system is under development.

Given the limited stock, and the popularity of the app, expect to see these for $500+ on ebay.

$35 is way, way, WAY under market value, whatever you might think it's worth.

A Squirtle randomly appeared near me but it broke out of 2 Pokeballs then ran away :( Hope it reappears soon.

Is there any way to "bank" eggs or send them somewhere without buying more egg storage? I have loads of 2.0km eggs and since my egg storage is full, I feel like I might be missing some longer distance eggs at Pokestops because I have no free space for them. I have two on the way to hatching but another 7 taking up space.

Ah dammit. :(

Thanks for the heads up.
