Two Magicarps catched at the same time: both 10cp but at different positions on the scale

huh, I asked about this yesterday and someone told me all pokemon of the same kind have the same scale (except some from eggs may have a higher range apparently)
so this confuses me

They vary very slightly around the same general per-species CP scale, but that's not what explains this one. In this case, it is that all Pokemon have a floor of 10 CP and 10 HP, regardless; but Magikarp is so weak that leveling it won't necessarily take it above that floor, so you don't see a change.

tl;dr: lol Magikarp

Oh dear, this opens up so many more possibilities and stuff to look out for. This game gets more complex every day lol.

Took a detour on my way home from work so I could grab some pokestops and go to my first gym. Game is so addictive!

Go Team Valor!

Anyone else having login issues? Keep getting "Failed to login", with an option to either retry or use a different account. A brief second later "Sign out" appears, but nothing can be actually clicked and it's been this way for 6-7 hours now :/. Force restartingg the app and the phone itself does not resolve it...

(iOS, Pokemon-account, EU, NL)

Not that there will be, but why wouldn't be possible to have 50km eggs? Or even more? 10km eggs don't sound that hard to hatch. In Korea there are already people you can hire to hatch your eggs, I think it was USD 1 per km.

Is there any 'best' team or any reason to go for one colour over another? Eg same colour as local gym to reinforce and earn XP, or opposite colour for lots of fighting?

Small thing that I thought was cool.

I was out buying lunch with Pokémon GO active. I discovered my first Electabuzz so I click him to engage. A split second later a client calls me and I have to answer the phone. Thinking to myself that this creature would flee in the background-app.

I finish the phone call and lo-and-behold the game had just paused the engagement and now I see the game transition from worldview to capture AR mode. Pretty cool.

Team Instinct is notably the underdog as the colors Red and Blue are simply more popular.

By being the underdog there is more glory to be had and if you are the one to capture a gym it's your name on top (as you got a spot guaranteed without needing training). So... more chance to be individually noted as part of Team Instinct. As Mystic or Valor you're just part of the horde, meat to the grinder.

It should be more opportunities for overtaking a gym as Team Instinct and immediately cash in on Stardust and Pokécoin using the 21-hour harvest ability.

I wonder how many Android owners will buy the GO Plus without realising it's iOS only?

Given the limited stock, and the popularity of the app, expect to see these for $500+ on ebay.

$35 is way, way, WAY under market value, whatever you might think it's worth.

Well fuck I didn't even realise.

Will hang onto my pre-order anyway.

I've just gone around the neighbourhood and I saw at least 8 red gyms in a one mile radius. Come on, Mystic and Instinct, step your game up! Crush the Red Menace!

Yeah me too that's why I posted it. Doesn't seem to be true 100% of the time.

I guess you are still low level? And yep, Magicarp sucks. I improved mine from 10 to 19.
I'm level 11, does it matter?

Yeah, I hope this means the game has longevity.

I also wonder if they have the same max cp, is it worth checking out?

Is there any way to decrease the likelihood of Pokemon running away, or is it random? I had zero run away before today, but 3 already so far today - including Squirtle :(

Feed them berries I guess? Usually after 2 pokeball escapes i throw a berry and try again, until now only one pokemon got away...and I got screwed out of having a marvelous Psyduck....

Feed them raspberries if you have.
Use a higher-class Pokéball if you deem the creature worth it.

Thanks - I don't have either berries or better Pokeballs yet, I guess I just haven't played enough to stumble across them being only level 6 - was planning on getting to plenty of Pokestops this lunchtime and then the weather decided we hadn't had enough rain :/

What in the fuck

Just got a Geodude from a 2km egg, haven't seen any rock Pokemon in the wild yet.

Already met some cool random people through this game. It's being talked about in every shop or train I'm in.

So even with higher level Pokemon if you transfer them you only get 1 candy? Seems a bit mean. And doing them all one by one takes a while. Needs an edit button so you can select multiple fodder to send over.

Basic mechanic is transfer lower level ones to get candies to power up your better ones? I already got stuck trying to power one up, saying I wasn't a high enough level trainer. Would be nice to see what requirements there are to power up on the screen. Game generally is lacking info to help

Just immediately send them over when you catch them. That's what I do at least.

Yesterday, there was a gym outside my house. Now, today, this gym is a pokéstop. Any reason why this happened? I know nothing about this game.

Hmm only the most popular (Ingress) points are gyms. I thought it was static but perhaps it adepts over time and yours just fell of the edge.

The official wording for the Pokemon GO device is:

* Compatible Smartphones:

Pokémon GO Plus will be compatible with iPhone 5/5c/5s/SE/6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus and operating systems iOS 8 – 9.

As of July 2016, the Pokémon GO Plus compatibility with phones using the Android operating system is under development.

So I reckon Android support will come eventually for the device this year.

Funny people complaining about nintendo selling an OPTIONAL accessory for 35 bucks. The app if fucking free, you can play and do well without spending a fucking dime, and they get mad because they try to sell something that YOU DO NOT NEED to play.

LOL

Just caught another Pidgeotto. The new one (XS) is on the exact same point of the scale as the XL one but has 18 more CP. It seems like it has the same potential as my normal Pidgeotto.

That is so awesome!!!

I haven't tried the game yet, but this morning on the bus to work (at around 6:30 AM), I saw two random guys just wandering in the road playing this thing. I also work with some doctors in training and they've been finding some Pokemon around the office.

Just crazy how much this has taken off. Some kids were wandering around the neighborhood playing yesterday too. And my wife and I went out to eat last night and this place had a Magikarp drawn on their placard, I guess cause maybe people are finding them there? (Again, I haven't played yet or know how it entirely works. But, it's just a totally random thing.) WV's got Pokemon fever too!

And thus began the Nintendo QoL program.

LOL!!! So true! They did it one way or another after all!
