Was checking out a nearby beach area with a golf course, saw 2 charmanders pop up, but since the gps and tracking were messed up I didn't bother trying to chase them down.

Got a dratini from a 10k egg and have enough candy to evolve it into dragonair now.

Also got a 474 CP squirtle from a 2km egg, thinking I'd probably have enough candy now to evolve it into wartortle, but I was only at 8 candy after that egg hatch. Do starter pokemon get less candy from egg hatches?

I tried using it yesterday with little success. It's worked for me but usually ends in some frustration.

Also with new pokemon appearing on a timer it's possible that they appear (or disappear) closer and falsely knock the one you are tracking down the list, causing you to turn around, etc. I think that is true?
Right, new ones can appear and disappear (changing the position of the one you're tracking on the list), but those ones also will be ordered in terms of their relative distance. You can use the ones that aren't "new" as reference points and sort of get a general sense of where the pokemon in your area are in relation to one another as you walk around. Basically if you aim to slide the one you're looking for into the top left you know you've done as much as you can to narrow it down at the 3-footprint range.

In my experience, it's hard to imagine how it could be more frustrating than just picking a direction and hoping for the best, but everyone should of course use their preferred technique ;)

So I power levelled last night. 50+ evolutions in 30 min. Now mid-20 and going to battle some gyms.

Not having the best luck in general. I have about half of the pokedex owned but have missed rare Pokemon and just haven't see a whole lot. One of my friends has a high powered dragonite and I just got my first dratini

Had a nice 3 hours out on the bike this afternoon, 15 miles, lots on muddy trails but plenty of eggs hatched by keeping it slow. Levelled to 17, took 3 gyms (1 for a second time later on), met and chatted to a few dozen players and saw plenty of others (even got passing cars beeping and waving when I was taking a gym!), people liked my hacked gopro mount. Grabbed 6 new pokemon and missed a couple more. Horrible day weather-wise, didn't seem to be putting off too many and the game itself only hung maybe 3 times - great fun!

Seems like the footsteps are broken in my game now. Always shows 3 steps, even when Pokemon is right next to me.

Right, I only saw 3 footsteps for everything all day, made tracking stuff extra difficult.

Level 8. Did my first battle, but I dont think I understand the complete fighting mechanics yet.

Got my butt kicked 4 times by some Vaporeon. Had him really low but he would melt me when he'd use what looks like a super attack. I was using Slowbro.

I was just dodging and I guess watergun (standard attack?). What else am I missing?

The strongest Mon i've seen is a wild is a ~600 CP Pinsir.

Open the game, ??? CP Snorlax spawns. I'm throwing the kitchen sink at this guy.

All my Razz Berries later, I've got a 1145 Snorlax and now the rest of my party looks like junk rattata.

Go with https://www.twitch.tv/deadpoolyplays instead.

He is a super positive guy. Watched him yesterday and two days ago (he had 9k+ viewers then). Something funny...when the viewers asked him to sing the Pokemon song and he replied: "Nah, not enough people here. I'll do it later, in a crowd. I was in the army and am a father of two, I have no shame."

Thanks, but not really interested. I wanted to watch EVO when I saw the stream and checked it out for a moment.

Thank goodness it's not just me. It sucks too, there was something I hadn't already caught yet at the closest distance to me, but I couldn't figure out which direction to go.

Yeah, I'm watching Melee as well. But should you ever be interested, go with this stream instead (well, the only one who was streaming Go and was being nice).

Holy crap about to go run some errands and checked the library gym across the street from me. Lvl 24 guy with a 2281 Dragonite wow that's the highest i've ever seen IRL and don't recognize his name as the usual lure spammers over there either. I guess i'll toss him some backup and soak up the active lure.

Slowly just starting this game because I've been in the hospital due to surgery(all is well, thank god)

but I got a Staryu and I gotta catch 50 more to evolve it? lol

Ok funny story time.

My kid is at his grandma's house (mom's side) for a couple weeks for the summer. He called me last night to talk about the Pokemon he's been catching. I hear grandma in the background (think of it in your best grumpy old lady voice):

"How did those Pokemon get in my house!? Are they coming out of Grampa's ipad since he's on it for 10 hours a day? Is that it? Grampa, get off the ipad! You're letting all the Pokemon in the house!!"

Haha that's cute. I wish that's how it worked!

I remembered that Samsung includes a Game Tuner app with their more recent phones, at least since the S6. (shows how little I play mobile games in general). I'm going to give these settings a try for the next few days and see if there's a noticeable difference in battery life. Quick testing in game didn't show any problems due to the lower resolution but I'll have to watch and see and adjust accordingly.

Yeah 21 hours is ridiculous amount of time here in the city.

They should make it scalable depending how often a gym gets attacked or taken.

I hope it's not a cheater who used fake gps spoofer.

So hey, any multiple device people out there, does it actually save your info from one to the other so you can play on either one?

I think I remembered someone saying it did, even cross-OS, but I can't find it.

When choosing which Pokemon to send to the professor, is it best to judge which to keep in your party by CP number or their moves?

I have 2 Jynx, one is CP 119 with moves Frost Breath (12) and Ice Punch (45, 3 blue bars (?)). The other is CP 172 with moves Frost Breath (12) and Psyshock (40, 3 blue bars).

So one has much higher combat points, but the other's special move seems to do more damage. Which is more important in general?

It's tied to your Google account. I started on iOS and moved to Android without incident.

Also i'm sure this guy isn't cheating we have several multiple lure spots around here. He probably farms there and hits many gyms. His name is familiar to the gym.

Yes. I use IOS most of the time but sign in from Android at home and also to use my Google Rewards money.

Thanks guys. I may seek out the cheapest iPad that exists with Bluetooth LE for the Go Plus if Android is still really a ways off.
