I always thought the spawns were shared and not one-offs? Wouldn't even get a shot at it? I know when we play at work there are like 4 or 5 of us all catching the same Pokemon as it pops.

They are shared. I think the point is more the sheer volume of people in one spot could cause things to get a bit ugly.

You lose access to it while it's alive in the Gym(it'll have a marker on in your pokemon list to denote it's guarding a gym). Once someone comes along and KO's it, you get it back, you'll have to use a potion on it though as it comes back on 1hp.
 
So playing this at the park today with my son. It is legit CRAZY how many people are playing this game. There had to have been 100-200 people waking around the lake playing it o.O

Events going to be interesting when you have millions of people spoofing to one spot in addition to everyone there.
 
Out doing an errand and the gym on the other side of the building was unclaimed for over a minute. I had to drop something in there to get a quick 10 coins, hahaha.

My wife and oldest daughter are away for the weekend, so my youngest and I hit our local park tonight. Love it!! Just walking the track there's a good seven Pokestops! Wound up doing two laps, and then hit some additional spots in the park.

Even though it was getting dark there were still others out doing exactly what we were. I've never experienced anything like this.

I'm an app developer and I had this idea several years ago as well. Ideas are a dime a dozen. The problem with my idea is that my creatures would have been completely unknown, so unless I had a big marketing budget and I probably would only get a few thousand downloads.

Pokemon GO is a combination of a good idea integrated with an IP, which appeal is multi-generational. They were also smart to start with the original lineup of Pokemon so old people like my wife and I could actually recognize them. I don't know any new Pokemon from the games my kids play. But my kids are familiar with the older Pokemon. So Pokemon GO can be enjoyed by pretty much our whole family.

The GPS locations are annoyingly inaccurate for my tastes, but it's still good fun overall. My wife is obsessed.
 
It's lightening like crazy and we've got thunderstorms coming all night, but the lures 3 blocks away are all active......................... Probably going to run out there.
 
Eeveelution worked first time. But this second time I named my Eevee Pyro and it evolved to a Jolteon :(
I really want a Flareon!!!
 
Been playing a lot. Need 12 more Dratini to get a Dragonite. Luckily I have a reliable Dratini park nearby.

I've walked so much. After hitting a bit of a plateau losing weight at the 50lb mark, this has helped me get losing again. I've met so many nice people too, all ages.

92/151 of Pokedex completed.
 
I really like the social factor. Great way to meet and talk to people. Great diversity of people as well. Game is great. Screw the few haters that exist!
 
There's a freaking kadabra somewhere but I'm not going to bother to look for it since the distance thing isn't working. I could rely on the left to right but eh.

When you tap on your radar, the Pokemon that pop up are ordered by their proximity to you from left to right going in rows. If one moves a space forward, you know you're getting closer to it. This is helpful when you have a lot of Pokemon with three pawprints next to them, since until you narrow it down to two pawprints it's difficult to tell if you're going in the right direction.

The name trick seems to have like a really low failure rate. It's possible that the server didn't recognize the name before evolving, which some people are suggesting to be what causes a failure. It's got a lot hire success than other Eevee rumors, so it might be worth trying again when you get the chance. Name the Eevee it, restart the app, then evolve it.
 
yo and two months ago the like 500 people or whatever in times square fighting mewtwo as a raid boss ad looked like total bullshit
 
I wish this was out in more countries across the world. I wonder if it will have the same impact as it has had in the US in other countries. I would love to see if we see huge crowds in London, Tokyo, etc like we are seeing here
 
Could any APK users help me with this problem? I'm pretty new to android phones. Do you have to "install" the app every time you want to run it? It didn't show up on my home screen so that's how I've been doing it so far.
