Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

I drove to the shopping centre to get my first pokemon, and of course the servers crash, couldn't do anything. There's nothing where I live (very quiet), so it's just the starter and a weedle for now :s

they definitely need to make the "locator" part better...got a pikachu "3 steps away",but no matter in what direction i went, there was no change..he was still 3 steps away and in the same position compared to the other nearby,in the end i just gave up

It seems to be broken since yesterday. Everything is marked as 3 steps for me and many other players.

This game is bad right? I've spent two days with it and can't figure out what's interesting.

Game is mechanically and quality a 5-6 at best. But it's the social interactions and the hype of the game capturing pokemon that everyone is so caught up in. However that greatly vary person to person, living outside the city the game can suck if your trying to be on a similar level to others.

Pretty dumb.

They haven't fixed the servers and even turned things off to help. The map location picture for each captured pokemon is off and the location radar is broken. Still getting lockups after catching Pokemons.

I live in the Netherlands and downloaded pokemon Go through APK a while ago. Now it's officially out. Do I need to do anything or can I just keep playing through the APK? Also what the fuck is up with this?! The game barely works most of the time and they released it in another 26 countries at once? Fucking fix your game first.

I don't think this is actually a good game either, it's just very addicting. The servers are trash, the entire proximity mechanic is fucked, rattatas and pidgeys fucking everywhere in full force, evolution candy is absolutely abysmal as a mechanic etc. The game could use a metric ton of improvement in every imaginable area.

Welcome to pokemon go

You can update through the Play Store, I did just that earlier.

As I theorized earlier, perhaps the "illegal" APK's are causing them issues. -> All original APK's direct to main server cluster X. To lessen the load more server clusters need to be added so players can be distributed over these various clusters. However the only way to redirect players to these new clusters is by updating the APK. To get people to actively update their APK they need to rollout the game properly in the regions. But this in turn causes additional load on the total number of servers.

Or the less positive theory is that they just want to monetize the current hype as much as possible.

Last theory: Business goes "Lets release in EU"! And the system administrators go:

They decided to release it in nearly 30 new countries on the weekend for an already insanely popular game.

It's gonna be fucked even more.
Not necessarily. It might mean they are getting more regional servers online, so people who play the game in those countries anyway will get offloaded from the US servers.

Hoboken was lively yesterday, lol. So many people catching Pokemon & overheard someone complaining "Now people catching fucking pokemons around here" from some barhopper :p

Lucky! Nothing happening over here in Paterson :/
Only lures being popped by the falls lol

Nothing really changes for you, except for the fact that the store isn't usable for foreign accounts if you're currently logged in with your dutch apple ID.

You can just delete the app and redownload it from the dutch store and log in. Everything will carry over and the store will be accessible. Literally did that ten minutes ago and zero issues. Already bought a few Pokecoins from the store.

Sometimes the locator glitches like other aspects of the app. If you restart the app, you'll notice that it'll update properly. I had this happen with an Abra the other day.I restarted it, and the Abra was actually not nearby at all (it wasn't on the list). Personally, I've only experienced this glitch once.

when you restart the app the pokèmon around you just change

Items like Lucky Egg and Incense shouldn't time out when the app is turned off, love putting one down every fucking time the servers then explode.

If you're on Android you can buy stuff from the shop if you are in a foreign country. I had the American app before and I'm located in Denmark and bought stuff just fine. But it seems like it's different on iOS.

I just dropped an incense. 29 minutes left of it and the servers crashed... Waste of money right there.

First 5 km egg has a Rhyhorn :D

And the servers are down. Good timing though, just before I decided to go for a bikeride (had to run an errand anyway) and I passed a small river; a buttload of Pokémon appeared. About four Magikarp, three Goldeen, three Staryu, two Psyducks, a Drowzee and a Caterpie. Pretty cool.

I don't think i really care wether the game is actually good or not

It's extremely fun, i did around 80-90km on foot/bike in like a week, i've met a shitload on nice people while catching pokemon, it's fun being part of this huge social phenomenon

Also, POKEMANS, who doesn't love 'em

My little sister is trying to create a trainer club account for this but when entering an email address she gets the following error:

('email', [u'This field cannot be blank.'])

anyone know of a solution?

Yeah, there's gonna be a bunch of Go withdrawal with server issues on the weekend.

Maybe they should have opened up new countries on a random Tuesday or Thursday.

I thought I was imagining thing. But the level of poke balls gone haywire was just insanely staggering tonight. It's really annoying. Don't be greedy Niantic. You'll get a lot more longevity if you're not trying to frustrate players.

I agree. Glad to know it's not just me anyway. Still wish there was something I could do to increase my odds to a respectable number of balls per Pokemon.

- Are their any special characters in the email address? Like ê or something?

- Double check all fields are filled

- Could be just because the servers are overloaded

Niantic was expecting about 15,000 people to participate in the Tokyo Aegis Nova anomaly finale. I can only imagine how many PokemonGo will attract in Japan (numbers are final anomaly score, not people)

Made a decent little to a nearby town that is covered in Pokéstops ready for a nice day of catching. Servers die.

Fast losing interest in this game between constant server death and rural areas being a pale shadow of towns and cities.
