Pokémon Go |OT| As in "Go Outside"

Afaik, the CP of the Pokemon in the egg is set when you receive the egg and not when you hatch it, so delaying it makes no difference.

Knowing whether this is true or not would be awesome. Anyone else have any confirmation / source?
Yeah don't stockpile eggs, multiple people noticed early on that the level they were when you get the egg was what mattered.
There's a local meetup happening pretty soon. Like ~200 are attending. God, I hope things shape up.
Same here. I am just gonna go either way, whatever happens at least it looks nice out and I'll be at the park.

servers are showing to be online for most EU countries yet i always get an authentification error uppon login, should have went with a google account instead of a pokemon club account i guess

today i learned Radio Shacks are still a thing.
jk but I'm not sure if it's for this weekend or what.

Looked in the FAQ's and didn't see anything...

Do I really have to put in my entire gmail username and account password plus my two step verification every.single.time.I.launch.the.app? Is there not some way to have it remember my account and login settings?

Yeah, communication is... poor, to say the least.

I realise they're all focused on the launch and on fixing the server issues, but it's not difficult to hire a social media / communications role whose responsibility it is to keep the social channels up to date with what's going on.

It seems like this success caught them off guard, which given the numbers is understandable, but stuff like having someone keep social media up to date is just basic stuff which should have been covered from day one.

Well I am sure Nintendo could help them with their online and social media experience..

:-(

I wish there was a way to send eggs to the professor like you can with Pokemon - I only have one free space, and two are about half way to hatching (which I can't increase until the servers are back up). All of the eggs I have now are going to be low level and will take a while to hatch before I can start getting better ones relevant to the level I'm at.

Whut ? I just click on "google" at the login screen, and then it logs in. Am on android. Maybe it's different if you are on an iphone ?

That used to be the case. The update a few days ago fixed that, at least on ios

Mine doesn't even seem to need me to select Google to log in. I chose Google when I first signed up, signed in once (including 2 step verification) and now it just logs me in automatically each time I start the app.

The issues with login might be due to the server problems going on at the moment.

Yep, that's why I find it hard to feel bad for them because this is success at its finest. If a random person on Twitter or facebook and can make an account and notify millions of people with a post it takes them 10 seconds to write then why can't they. It's not hard to say "we are working on it", "should be fixed in the next hour", "servers are good too go".

Go to sleep Europe

It's 12mph when bike between 14-17 it doesnt count.

Yours makes more sense.
Yeah 20km/h or 12.4mph has held true for me so far. However the delay thing is also real and unrelated. Even at slow walking speeds sometimes it doesn't get tracked as I go

No, you don't. This is just an effect of the servers being unstable. You should only have to input then once.

Yeah first few days I felt like I had to re enter my username and password every other time I used the app cause of crashing, but after the update I only had to login once.

Don't know anything about Niantic but I'm guessing servers are gonna be offline/busy for a few hours.

Eggs also get you XP and candy (which could mean more xp). They're always worth it even for a Weedle IMO.

What we really need is more incubators. :p

That's actually how it is for me too most of the time. Occasionally when the servers have issues, i get kicked back to the login screen though, and will have to select google again. Else it does log in automatically.

Went on a decent 11km walk today, passed tons of Pokestops, thought I might tackle a few gyms finally... Naturally, as seems to be the case all over, Pokemon Go no worky. :(

I almost wanted to spend $5 to get some pokeballs, but I find it hard to support them with all the server issues. Why can't they upgrade their servers?

I wouldn't even dare spend real money right now, with all the server issues you can lose your purchases through no fault of your own.

Bewildering why they would release it in TWENTY SIX more countries before fixing problems that have frequently occurred in three.

They changed the servers are down message. It's now "Our servers are humbled by your incredible response. We are working to resolve the issue. Please try again soon."

That's true. I could buy more incubators with real money, but they break after 3 uses - there should at least be the option to buy an infinite one for more coins if using real money (unless there is, I don't remember that being an option last time I looked).

I know that this is very frustrating. Here is my futile plea that you guys not call the developers at Niantic stupid or morons. I kinda wish that anyone expressing such a sentiment had to spend a full day as one of the people tasked with managing the infrastructure for this launch. It's not that I think the game deserves a pass, that the servers being down isn't a big deal, or that it's unfair to criticize the devs. But since so much of what has made this game successful is an actual connection with other human beings; try your best to muster up some compassion for the humans providing the experience in the first place.

Also, thank you to everyone who signed up for and used Charity Miles so far. Anyone who doesn't know, it's a simple app, you pick a charity and start a session of walking/running/biking, and a corporate sponsor donates to that charity based on your miles. There are many to choose from. If you are interested in making your steps count just a little more, grab the app here:

I wanted to share this message they just emailed to users.

Gene, Steph, Lauren, Albert, Lynette and Matt

P.S. Share Charity Miles with all your Pokémon Go friends to make an even bigger impact!
Just bolded that one bit in particular, as it might help the scope of this phenomenon sink in a little further. This is so big that unrelated apps being used by players solely for charitable purposes (with zero personal advantage or in-game impact) are having their servers crashed too.

They really need to tie things to the medal system, getting a "you walked xyz distance" medal for example should award XP and an egg or 2, or"you caught xyz amount of water Pokémon" medal should give XP and random water Pokémon candies.

Because when they rolled 1 country per day people were : "idiots, I will never get the game before christmas at the rate!" ^^
