Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

And seriously, Ash Greninja appeared in everything except the main games, I seriously doubt it wouldn't be in the games in some form too.

Also it has a cool magnetic plush! That definitely screams main game!

I doubt Ash-Greninja will be in it (though maybe a special way like getting Ash's outfit), but Synchro is bound to be

Obviously. There's no such thing as anime exclusive Pokémon forms. :p

Wasn't there that one episode where Ash turned into a Pikachu for, like, 30 seconds?

Venustoise begs to differ

To this day, I still sort of want Venustoise to become canon. Like, I don't want any other fusions, but I want to see Venustoise in a main game. Granted, I also want Missingno to officially become Pokemon #000, so it's not my only dumb wish for the series' future.

How would you envision a Synchro system working in the games?

Are they really going to add model differences for every Pokemon (or every fully-evolved Pokemon at least) that are somehow tied to Trainer Customisation...when said customisation can be changed at any time? Like it's one thing to have 'Ash-Greninja' in the anime when Ash has a solid distinguishable outfit, but I just can't see how that would translate to the games very well.

I also think the whole concept kinda clashes with Mega Evolution. We've only had it for one generation and now they're going to be pushing essentially a lesser version of it? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I think ash greninja will be achievable but it'll be called yourname_Greninja and maybe there's some parts of each Pokemon that change color depending on your outfit

I'm looking forward to synchro now on the condition that it revolves around a fun new battle mechanic.

Just realized the main male in SM looks like a team aqua reject...

When you reach full bond and are in a pinch you can do synchro. Certain body parts of each synchro design merely change color depending on the color of your hat and shirt. There.

Omg what if that's why we can't remove the hats! Haha

Just make it color changes to a few specific parts of the body rather than model changes

I still have my OG Ocarina of Time 3DS and I want a New3DS. There like no doubt they will have a Sun and Moon bundle right? Might just wait for that.

Maybe that's according to haircut
I know, but my point is that unless Ash-Greninja is unique, these won't just be palette swaps on certain parts of the body. Ash-Greninja's head is a different shape than regular Greninja's, so it would need a new model.

I think the whole concept is just like Mega Evo, like Primal Reversion is, just with a twist. It won't be all Pokémon, but a few of them. Probably, based on how the anime works, something like you can do it once per battle but if the Pokémon faints, your trainer does too and the battle is done, making it a risky proposition.

They'll pull some Kingdom Hearts nonsense. It's not that Greninja looks like Ash because they are connected. It will turn out that Greninja was always able to use this synchro form and it always looked like this. When Ash was young, he met a Greninja and synchronized his heart to it, and as an effect of this bound, Ash grew up looking like the Greninja he met in the past. It's not that Greninja looks like Ash, it's Ash the one that looks like Greninja.

Replace Greninja with Ven and Ash with Sora and there you have it.

It is very likely (almost 100%) the kalos starters will have new megas (being ash-greninja one of them) and we will receive one for free the same way the professor gave you a kanto starter in XY.

Serena's Braixen evolving into Delphox shortly and later mega-evolving (synchro, just like Ash)?

Ash-Greninja is not a Mega. It could be a new mechanic.

I'm pretty sure Kalos starters won't be getting Megas any time soon.

I feel the need to point out that in the anime, they found an ancient ninja scroll of a hero greninja who looked exactly like Ash-Greninja, so the hair coincidence theory is supported by that. It was black and white though, so we can't compare colors

I could see Nintendo announcing a price cut on the 3DS's in the next few months, and then lining up a bundle at the same price at the current price point.

Tbh the only benefit I can see for Synchro over Mega Evolution is that it could potentially allow NFE Pokemon to use it, giving them a way of boosting Pikachu in the anime, along with other Pokemon that are more popular than their fully-evolved forms. Which doesn't seem to be the way they're going with it, sadly. :/

For some reason, I thought it was yesterday we would get news which is why I was confused all day until I looked over the Twitter post again.

Benefit is that they'd be able to use items.

Oh, it was. I thought it was for 2DS and the old 3DS models.

It would however be interesting if they did a 2DS bundle as well, as besides the battle system in Gen 6, there really wasn't much use made of the 3D capabilities. And it certainly would help coax a larger audience to get the game if they don't have, or already sold, their 3/2DS already

Do we think Sun/Moon will embrace amiibo? If customisation is back, I want a Mario hat.

Would be super cool for me, as I have a good number of amiibo already, but I feel as though they would need to cut the price of the 3DS amiibo adapter/make more available. I can't find any of those things on the shelves of stores around me anymore.

While there's always a possibility that the boxes could be revised, they don't currently show the amiibo symbol on them while they do have the Nintendo Network symbol on them, so I don't think we'll be seeing amiibo functionality.

There's no particular reason they couldn't give NFE Pokemon a mega evolution. Only reason to think they won't is that they haven't. Though, I don't know how many Pokemon aside from Pikachu have disproportionally popular unevolved stages. And honestly, it's hard to see them screwing with it's design all that much.

I'll reserve judgement on potential synchro stuff until I know the battle mechanics but

The transformations themselves (if they end up working like they do in the anime) sound lame as fuck. Ash-Greninja is pretty boring in terms of how it visually changes. Megas are cool to me because they transform dramatically, just like a regular evolution. Glorified color swaps, on the other hand, are just really dull.

I still want Ash-Greninja in Pokkén.

Not Greninja.

Just Ash-Greninja.

I can't wait for tomorrow's announcement when they have a video stating Pokemon Sun and Moon will feature
the return of colored cartridges for the games.

If you wanna be technical, HGSS, BW and B2W2 had colored cartridges, because of the infrared =p Hold one of them up to light.

Honestly I dunno if I'd want colored cartridges back, though. But I don't think I'd really care either way.

Edit: Also before someone else says it, black and grey are colors.

Can someone explain Synchro to me?

In the show, Ash's Greninja can use a Mega Evolution-like transformation called Ash-Greninja. Once it transforms, it takes on an appearance kind of like Ash and the two are "synchronized", mimicking each other's movements, etc. Also when Greninja feels pain Ash does too, so sometimes the form takes its toll on him during battle and makes him pass out from exhaustion.

So far, it's unknown how/if they're going to implement any of this in the games, but Ash-Greninja has shown up in other spinoff stuff like the TCG.

We are totally going to end up with a Synchro Charizard Moon and Synchro Charizard Sun.

Charizards will be more diverse than Eeveelutions soon.

Synchro? Am I missing something?

Brainstar explained it already, but if you're still confused:

Here's an clip from the most recent anime episode where Ash finally mastered it

I really hope they make proper use of StreetPass in this one. The tech was practically built for collecting unwanted Pokémon eggs.
