Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

Does anyone know if they are using the same pokemon models in this game as X/Y and OR/AS? If so, then I can see syncro being a thing since they only have to make the new pokemon models, and not remake all the sprites like they did for all the other generations.

There is zero chance they aren't using the same models.

By the time BW2 came out and Pokedex 3D Pro was released they had already had finalized models for the first 649 Pokémon.

Don't expect much more than what we got for XY, really.

yes they aren't changing the models

the models polygon count is really high or a a 3DS game

Are your bodies ready?

Regarding models, they probably will update the textures over the years, but they really are futureproof. See in this pic (in the 3DS emulator, being rendered at 2x or 4x the resolution) how the models have a high poly-count.

Just came back from the ep today... that Synchro looks oddly like some sort of Kamen Rider henshin moment with mega evolution DNA effect

Do you see it as a form of mega evolution due to that "effect" you describe? Maybe there is more than one way to achieve mega evolution (stones and synchro).

I guess I'll see it this afternoon or tomorrow at last when the subs go up.

Oh now i get that synchro stuff, don't follow the anime, so i thought that Ash and Greninja did make a Dragonball-like fusion. Thank god it's not that, would be dumb as hell, but being some other mega-evolution-like state should be fine. ^^

basically what happened is that a DNA helix appeared in both Ash and Greninja which covers them, and then we see their images becoming one as "sync lines" coming from both ends of the screen converge

waiting for raws to post a gif for some odd reason this is the most posted image in #anipoke

and well, this

Then yup, it's just another way to achieve mega-evolution (a higher level?) that also makes the pokémon look a bit like the trainer. (Though Ash-Greninja's form didn't appear in a flashback in the ninja episodes?)

2 hours to go. My expectations are in check but there's a small amount of hype just bubbling away, especially after what we've already seen, it could literally be anything today. I wonder if what we see today would be the usual Pokemon @ E3 style news as they're not going to be announcing anything via a June Direct this year (as there isn't one).

Just curious, what's the basis for this consensus? Haven't been following speculation at all. Thanks!

We have been seeing a lot of anime episodes about it, merch...etc. If it's not revealed today, it will sooner or later. (Of course, there is the possibility this is just an anime thing, but it's not likely).

Oh, gotcha! Very cool. Thanks for the info!

Can you imagine if it is an Anime/TCG only thing and that Zygarde's additional formes are too? That'd be the biggest divergence from the games they would have taken... ever?!

I still question if we need anything more such as Syncro though, sure it'l be cool but we've already got Mega Evos and Primal (which felt a lot like Megas) so I'm wondering how they can make all these work together and not be a confusing mess. Especially if they introduce more Megas along side the whole Syncro mechanic.

Ash-Greninja is also in Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Picross, so that would indicate to me that Synchro is definitely coming to the mainline series.

I'm still offended ash was able to achieve sync with his Pokemon before we were even privy to it. Real slap in the face

It's so weird that the first Pokemon that synchronises with its trainer isn't like... a Ralts... or a Mega Gardevoir...

EDIT: It's also really weird how the Mega Evolution mechanics never took the bond between trainer and Pokemon into account like they were supposed to. I felt like it cheapened the impact of Megas in the story.

Sorta expecting a poison or steel eevee as a partner for sylveon...but I'll take whatever type they'll give if we get another one this gen.

If there's some kind of hi-tech factory where we find Magearna, I can see them letting Eevee evolve into 'Steelee' there.

Is there a link to whatever stream/news we're getting? Or just, come back in an hour and a half to see/read the news?

Hey guys what is this synchro thingy?
In my head I'm imagining some horrific half Pokemon half human abomination, please tell me that's not it!

It's just some form of mega-evolution in which the minds of trainer and pokémon get synchronized, making the pokémon change form(just like mega evolution). It does not require a megastone. The trainer also suffers from the damage the pokémon gets, potentially making him faint.

That's all we know. No, it's not fusion of any sort.

Bipedal humanoid starters all round from now on then?

Feels like it'd be kinda hard to animate something like Venusaur as being in Synchro with the trainer.

I don't see the point of these Synchromon nonsense. Not only are they redundant since Megas are a thing but how will they handwave the fact that your Pokemon won't look like your customizable trainer? Will Ash-Greninja retroactively become Synchro-Greninja? I just don't see Game Freak shelving Megas for something so similar.

Primal Reversion, Mega Rayquaza, etc.
