July 11, 2005

Starting Aug. 28, Pokémon fans who reserve a copy of Pokémon® XD: Gale of Darkness for Nintendo GameCube™ at participating retailers will receive a custom Nintendo GameCube vinyl skin featuring characters from the game.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness will be available Oct. 3.

Pokémon was introduced in North America in September 1998 and has since generated more than $15 billion in worldwide retail sales. Last year's Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen sold more than 2.6 million combined. More than 140 million Pokémon video games have been sold worldwide.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is Rated E for Everyone.

I think it's probably just the photography, and I have almost no hope that XD is going to be enjoyable, but that actually looks kind of cool.

ok: all 3 people interested in pre-ordering pokemon xd take your vinyl applique and hang your heads in shame over in that corner...

I'm guessing you live in that world with people who don't realize how popular Pokemon still is.

its like so kiddy lolz~

Anyway, the RPG mode that was in the Coliseum was very average, but I exepcted complete crap from something like that. If they can take that and expand on it, make it more fun in XD, it could be a pretty good game.

With that in mind, I don't expect a great game out of this, but I don't expect crap either.

That's pretty cool. I don't think I would ever apply it to my Gamecube but it would be nice to have. I don't really have high hopes for Gale of Darkness. I do like the box art but Colisseums RPG mode was misearable. They should do the gameplay in a traditional Pokemon style, not this dark garbage. Also, give it more of a story and have cutscenes to compliment the story. The Pokemon game that I want is Pearl and Diamond however.

lol you're so funny

I played it E3...really, it didn't seem that bad. I don't like Pokemon at all, but it really felt like a normal RPG to me, in terms of the battle system. Whether or not the story/plot is good remains to be seen.

Well, the core concept is like a normal RPG anyway. The problem, at least with every previous console Pokemon title, is that every pokemon attack move is dragged out like a Final Fantasy summon. If they haven't improved on the speed of combat the game might as well not come out as far as I'm concerned.

Any chance of this game being good? I have low expectations for this one. For those who played it at E3, how was it?

I completed the RPG Mode in Colosseum, but I barely had fun doing so. The battles were too slow paced.
Yeah, the animations are nice and all but after a while it gets annoying to watch them every time. Plus you start to notice mini load time delays after almost every menu command. Battles just take too much time in Colosseum.

dmx_daman, there is at least one spot where you can fight Pokemon out in the wild, but it's still not like the regular games. I don't know if anyone has much detail on this but there are a couple of pics of a zone where you walk around in the wild and you can actually see the Pokemon instead of just random encounters. Not sure how big this zone is or how many you can find there, though. Here's what serebii has on it.
