ABC just did a story on Pokemon Go. Added 8 billion dollars to Nintendo's bottom line in one week. 😮

Edit: that can't be right.

I don't know about you but everyone I've met here in Brisbane, Australia is very much not a gamer. It is hitting far and wide outside of the gamer niche, and only Pokemon could do that.

The big difference is that the app is officially out in Australia which means 80 year old grandmas can download the thing without going through hoops.

It is, technically. The price of the shares shot up so the value of the company is around 8 billion more than it was last week.

I know, that's how I'm playing it.

But there's no socialization aspect in this country right now because the average Joe is not going to download an apk. If it's not on the Play Store, 90% of people aren't going to bother.
Yeah you're right, which is the worst part. I wanna go out and make friends, but at least I have time to get ahead.

By the way, couldn't this be considered copyright infringement? Basically advertising their store with Nintendo's brand. Not that I'd want any action taken against it, just asking out of curiosity.

I just wanted to mention to anyone creeping around any of these threads or our OT...totally go in and be super awesome to local businesses. Not only are you invigorating your local economy and supporting local businesses, but you're having lots of fun too.

And more good news stories are always great, especially for vidya games. So make sure you visit local PokeStops!

I must say, it's nice that a videogame can make everyone feel so united after three horrible tragedies over racial tensions (the shootings in Dallas, Minnesota, Louisiana).

I already posted this in the OT, but I feel it's worth posting here as well. :)

Center street in Utah has been lit the last few days. There are about 30 Pokestops down the street, about a 10 minute walk. So it's a popular place for Trainers to run by to horde Pokeballs.

One of the small local restaurants has had Poke Lure's at their Pokestop up almost every time, and I actually saw a Jolteon get attracted there on my run down, so when I saw they were supporting the game and the players, I decided to support them and eat there for the first time.

Food was good, Jolteon was good, and I just love how this game is bringing people together and getting gamers outside.

I'm crying from laughing at the stuff in this thread. Reminds me of when every little mom and pop store would have a sign advertising TY Beanie Babies. I remember my dad's friend giving him a slip of paper with some eBay URLs written in it for good beanie baby sellers in the late 90s. This is like the modern version of that.

This whole phenomenon has been so cool. It's gonna be a real bummer when it dies down as I'm loving the affect it's having on the community
