You guys seriously think Obama won the debate?

I think McCain outlined a specific, bold plan for creating jobs, helping those near retirement, keeping people in their homes, curbing spending, lowering health care costs and achieving energy independence. He vowed to fight for 'Joe the Plumber' every day he is President and he affirmed his belief that we shouldn't raise taxes just to 'spread the wealth.' While Barry is measuring the drapes and campaigning against a man not even on the ballot, John McCain demonstrated that he has the experience, judgment, independence and courage to fight for every American.

And honestly, I think thats what Americans thought as a whole. The pendulum has started to swing the other way.

The real winner of the debate was Bob.
Yes. He really laid down the law from he first moments. He asked everything most people wanted to here about (including climate change and the negative campaigning)
I was really expecting a joke in TDS tonight: "John, now know which man should be our next president, Bob fucking Schieffer" I wasn't happy with the lame effort of Brokaw at the time, but Bob just made him look like a chump. I can honestly say this debate was the only one that I feel really gave what I wanted to see. a debate.

Man Michelle Obama needs to be careful - the gang sign was a secret shout out to William Ayers :lol

I'm just so glad that McCain got called out on some of his lies.

HAHA on Fox News Triump the COmi dog in the background.

Slurpy; Obamagaf hype is simply feeding off the public's snap polling. And Obama did well. Again.

He sealed the deal.

And propping up McCain is not going to change the facts.

i think mccain won the first third, tied in the middle, obama the last third. on points, mccain a bit more. on style/appearance, mccain lost it hands down.

you, according to snap polls, are in the 22% of people, according to CBS, who thought McCain won, or the 31% according to CNN. so your view is definitely in the minority, though i do appreciate you sharing it.
i would disagree with your point about mccain's plan to lower health care costs though. i do like the talking points about barry measuring the drapes/campaigning against bush -- i thought obama's response to mccain's "i am not bush" line to be even better - "im sorry i mistake you for him but you vote with him 90% of the time" or something similar.

and, as the polls currently show, your last line about what americans thought as a whole is, as of tonight, currently provable as false. we'll see if tracking polls/national polls/state polls agree (as they have after the other debates), but right now your last statement is provable as false.

so yes, i do respect that you think his plans are better, and you feel he got his points across. i disagree. you are in the minority, in both america and poligaf, so i have more respect for you for expressing those views here. just remember that opinions are opinions, and statements like "I think thats what Americans thought as a whole. ", while an opinion, can be disproven with current polling.

wow, i was giving him the benefit of the doubt...

Some folks getting trolled ITT.

Good times. The next few weeks will be very entertaining to watch, as the conservative base twists and turns in the wind, trying to get away from McCain to salvage whatever they can for congress.

hey now, they are few and far between, but they do exist. i try and give people the benefit of the doubt, especially if they express an opposite opinion here on GAF for that reason.

lesson learned, possibly.

I know, right? Obama failed the lipness test.

according to google, no one knows what a litmus test is

8. joe the plumber
10. sarah palin autism

McCain doesn't either. One sentence he says he won't impose a litmus test, and the next he says judges who support Roe v Wade aren't qualified

New McCain attack ad coming out tomorrow:

"Obama says that kids need to put down the video games, but he just spent thousands to put ads in video games. Obama a hypocrite? You betcha."

man poligaf has slowed down a lot now that the debate is over, instapolls are out, and nothing has changed.

now, however, we have 3 long weeks of just polls, no debates...

nah, this thread is now pretty much a McCain deathwatch. I think it really is just a matter of days before the RNC pulls the plug on new expenditures for McCain and starts trying to save whatever congressional incumbents they can. This was McCain's last real opportunity to break through-starting tomorrow and next week, battleground state early voting starts and if he's not in better shape he'll have lost the election well before election day.

Watching thread regulars not catch the sarcasm/comedic reposting of republican talking points is probably funnier than "ZERO!"

Okay, nothing is funnier than zero.

Well the moderator was like BOOM!
Both Obama and McCain went WOAH!
Then McCain said HE'LL RAISE YOUR TAXES!
But Obama was like NUH UH. FOX NEWS SAID SO!
Then Obama was like BAM BOOM BING!
McCain tried to rally but Obama hit back with ZERO!

i've failed the sarcasm test twice now this week alone. i think my mind is revolting against my constant use of sarcasm in real life, turning off it's sarcasm detector at the worst possible time
