So Hurricane Omar is keeping me busy (still don't have electricity in my house), so I missed the debate (and the NLCS game!!!).

Anyway, this thread is huge, but who did the CNN and other polls say won the debate? I know Obama had won the other two handily in those polls.

Well crap, apparently I missed some news about Joe the Plumber as well as a JD dogpile.

Stupid work, keeping me away from the important shit.

Same result. Obamarama

Yeah, it was pretty much Obama by a 2:1 margin in every post-debate poll.

Yeah so:

1) Joe the Plumber is not a plumber at all.
2) Joe the Plumber only makes 40K a year.
3) Joe the Plumber owes back taxes.
4) Joe the Plumber isnt registered to vote.

Did anyone catch the clip of Joe the Plumber saying something stupid and then saying "this isn't going on national news, is it?"

No, he is, but his records aren't matching which means he'd get purged under GOP policy.

I miss your old avatar, and I think we all saw this coming.

Since of the ruling in Ohio yesterday? :lol

That shit better be overturned.

Okay, so from what I gather from this old man's... accusations:

1. Obama is in bed with Ayers to do... something terroristy to America?
I don't understand how McCain can say "I don't care about some washed-up terrorist from 40 years ago" in the debate . . and then THE NEXT DAY start bringing it up again as if it matters? WTF?

Why just say "Uh . . . I've got nothing . . . some I gonna make some lame allegations about a college professor that did some terrorist stuff 40 years ago."

Dont feel like getting it, it was on NPR on the way home.

He isn't licensed to do plumbing in Ohio. In his divorce proceeding he claimed he made 40K.
He owes about 2000 dollars in back taxes.

Politico ran the "not registered to vote story"

edit: nevermind, he can vote.

Perhaps (4) should be:
4) Joe the Plumber's name is not 'Joe'.

And scurrilous internet rumors say he's not a nice guy. Probably going to fade into relative obscurity soon, which he might welcome at this point.

So if you go to Gallup.com and see the "likely voter" spread at 2 points, is that the traditional way? And the the regular gallup daily poll PoliGaf loves is the new methodology?

Yep 2 is traditional though GAF follows now is the expanded version but before it was registered voters. Gallup has 3 versions now so they have a better chance to predict the race so they won't screw up the results like zogby.

What an enraging Lou Dobbs segment. Nice 'diversity' for the panel there. Who the fuck was that 'Democratic strategist' tool who went along with the group and didnt utter a word to defend Obama?

According to Lou, Joe the plumber is now a 'symbol' an 'emblem' of the republican campaign, and he should be in congress. Lou is 'impressed' by this guy's advice. He may very well be the 2nd coming of Jesus.

And according to him, the Obama camp is 'attacking this guy mercilessly' as if he's Attila the Hun. WTF?? When did this happen??

What an empty, bullshit story, especially since its been shown that not only would this guy not get a tax hike currently under an Obama administration, but he probably wouldnt even in his shitty little hypothetical, imaginary situation he thought of. But hey, facts dont matter.

I hope Glenn Beck drags Lou Dobbs with him to Fox, so you can finally relegate the worst offenders of bullshit to one channel.

I live in Charlotte NC, where today is the first day of early voting. I drove by two polling places before 8 this morning and they were both completely mobbed. My husband has driven to two others in his attempt to vote today, and the scene has been so ridiculous that he has given up and will try again next week. At two of the spots where he tried to vote, he witnessed and was approached by two exceedingly aggressive McCain/Palin volunteers who were pulling people out of line, handing out brochures, and telling them "You really need to think carefully about your vote. If you plan to vote Obama, we would ask that you read this material and reconsider your vote."

At one location, after approaching my husband aggressively, these volunteers were forcefully asked to leave by an employee and were told the police would be called if they did not cease and desist.

None of this is indicative of anything, obviously. I just thought it was interesting. I have voted in three presidential races since I have lived in Charlotte, and I have never been approached by anyone campaiging so close to a polling location. Desperation, perhaps?

Fuck Lou Dobbs, at least the other fucktard douche nugget pundits have enough balls not to hide behind the 'Independent perspective' curtain.

Beck had a pretty compelling piece when he was talking about a scene out of It's a Wonderful Life and comparing to what we're going through right now economically/financially. It's crazy how much it mirrors current events. I agree with a lot of what he has to say when talking about the economy, what's going on, what people should be doing, etc.

However, when he starts talking about Palin being that "breath of fresh air" (sick of this line of reasoning) or his belief that Obama is going to destroy the country, it's a bit much for me.

And now conservative radio is predicting the downfall of Obama because he made a plumber comment at one of his rallies today. Is this *really* what it's come down to?

Lou Dobbs is a trade protectionist / populist who frequently rails against Republicans. :lol

His combined issue stances don't have a party.

I'm predicting some violence on November 4, sadly.
I just might drop off my ballot at one of the locations instead of mailing it in. I'd love to run into some McCain supporters that would try to get me to change my mind and I'll give them a piece of my mind.

Game on!

Yeah. And by some I assume you mean "a lot". I wonder how much early voting will help out.

Final debate numbers per First Read - in millions of viewers:

Debate 1: 52.4
Debate 2: 63.2
Debate 3: 56.5
Veep: 69.9

He's a "Lifelong (Conservative) Republican" whom just so happened to donate money to the Bush campaign. Other then abortion, Trade, and gun rights (And possibly education) he tends to lean Republican.

What garbage is Campbell Brown saying?

No offense, if I donate to Obama's campaign I want the money to go toward him getting elected as president not to a food bank. If Obama or McCain want me to donate to a food bank they can post a link on their websites where they can receive donations specifically for that. But I don't want them to spend my campaign contributions on random unrelated charities.

Campbell Brown's little special comment came off as completely empty "think of the children!" rhetoric.

I'm guessing MO and parts of OH will be the most problematic when it comes to violence. Probably NC too. Basically, anywhere with a large black turnout is gonna face some scary stuff.

Holy shit, anyone watching O'Reilly? He's actually sticking up for Obama and shitting on McCain, some talk radio idiot (Laura Ingram) on there is dumbfounded and can't believe that he doesn't agree with her on Obama. Is this bizzaro world? O'Reilly has been sticking up for Obama the last couple of days.

Two possible reasons for this phenomenon:

-He has respect for Obama now that he's interviewed the guy (and that Obama, unlike Kerry, wasn't a no-show on the O'Reilly Factor).
-He sees the writing on the wall.
