The socialists aside, I'm encouraged by the results. GAF isn't as politcally insane as I had imagined.

Not stupid. Like Bush so brilliantly exemplifies, people in extremes tend to view the world in black and white. It's fashionable now for almost anyone of any political stripe short of being a republican to knock on Bush for being a retard and holding a simplistic view of the world as America vs. evil doers. Ironically, the most extreme of the Bush haters exhibit the exact same simplicity in their analysis. Most socialist/marxist analysis takes a similar tact of its ideology saving the world from the capitalists. That's not really so different from the neo-con world view of saving the world of terrorists, communists and evil doers.

With these two statements, can I say that you think that Socialists are extremists?

Ever heard of the Greeks? The Golden Mean. In my life experience, that rule has held up very well in almost every occasion and hasn't failed me when it comes to pidgeonholing people and their political views.

In a democratic society, it is in middle is where ideas get mixed, discussed, thrown out and reformed.

And based on your response, you already think of yourself as an extremist with a 'right idea' on everything and a ready, ideologically based solution. That strikes me as rather naive. Sorry if you're insulted, it wasn't my intention. I think people like you serve a purpose as agents that bring the 'pure' form of an ideal to the populus, but don't expect to be taken seriously.

There have been quite a number of initially extreme ideas that are then taken seriously by the general population. One's lifetime is too short to make such a broad generalization. Consider several major examples: abolition, civil unions, different religions that have arrived at new areas, and the idea of Indians wielding political power (depending on the perspective).
