ign said the same thing as well though.

Not exactly. From IGN:

When comparing the PS4 and Xbox One versions side-by-side, there’s little to no variation in textures and effects, but there is a discernible difference in resolution. While both are displayed at 1080p, the Xbox One version upscales the game from 720p resolution. In contrast, the PS4 version runs natively at 1080p, which makes character models, weapons, and environments look noticeably sharper and more detailed. The difference is especially apparent on larger-sized TVs, where pixel density weighs more heavily in picture quality.

So has any of these tried to change the output settings to 720p for the PS4 version, to see if the frame rate gets better AND still keeps the better effects?

edit- I mean Polygon can say they like COD on the XBoxOne version at 720p better than the PS4 version at 1080p

and also give another comparison with both at 720p.

The bigger issue is that this game is apparently a hot mess and even day one patching probably won't fix the issues at hand. Battlefield seems like the clear choice and the safe choice if you want to play a multiplatform shooter for launch.

This is like an episode of cops where two belligerent idiots are fighting over some hideous trailer trash whale of a woman. Wildly entertaining, but doesn't bode well for humanity.

I never thought a COD doing so poorly would be the "buried lead" behind what, IMO boils down to, do you want the version that looks like dirty brown water trash or mildly dirtier brown water trash? No one wins, this game looks horrible on every platform it released on.

Oh the humanity it can not be, something must be afoot, how can this be? It must be money and poor optimization and Dead Rising 3 and what CBOAT said and blah blah blah lol. Same shit different day yall.

Welcome to the eighth generation.

At first I found the whole resolution shitstorm annoying, but now I'm so entertained by to people who are so serious about all of this stuff that I can't help but sit back and laugh at it all.

Holy shit you sony ponies are unbelievable. ...there are multiple sites confirming the same issue but we get....
# the site got bribed by ms
# the site should be discredited
# we believe one site over 10 because they say the ps4 version is better
# who needs a stable framerate...its easier to kill people when its a slide show in 1080p
# the game is shit so it does not count

Funny because BF4 got the same score across both version when the PS4 version had better framerate and a better resolution. How come Polygon didn't have the PS4 version a higher score than the Xbox one version? Can you answer that?

yes seem that it will be 800p
no actually it wont...lol

its going to output a 1920x1080p (NATIVE) image to your screen...the top and bottom 140 pixels will simply be black...

sure i understand what u mean so

you telling me that games that arent natively 1080p on ps4 wil not be upscaled?

of course non 1080p games will be upscaled...however The Order will NOT be upscaled...because its creating a 1920x1080 native image...

Not that I'm aware of, but it's an interesting test. A handful of PS3 and 360 game run better at SD resolutions than HD ones. I wouldn't be surprised if the Xbox One and PS4 just scale down the 1080p output to 720p though, even on a game like COD. I'd love if they don't, and if I set my hypothetical Xbox One to 720p, that it won't throw artificial sharpening on everything.

Just watched the IGN comparison, and truly, I cannot see much of a difference. I don't think Polygon is bullshitting, they look damn near identical. Think that says more about the game than it does the hardware, though.

I'm actually pretty irritated with the statements in that review as I feel people such as this are essentially telling developers that it's OK to continue aiming for a low resolution.

The difference is enormous both in terms of clarity, due to an increase in pixels, and the elimination of upscaling artifacts (which, as others have noted, is very important). This isn't a matter of opinion, really, upscaling from a low resolution is never a good thing. If certain people claim to be unable to notice a difference, fine, but don't muddy the waters with your useless commentary.

720p is NOT OK for a next-generation title.

No, it's not a matter of "slightly less jaggies". The difference is dramatic and significant.

Good lord! So when we should expect the DF comparison?

Want to take your shit back to 4chan where it belongs?

Viewing the Xbox One release next to the PS4 , I had difficulty telling them apart. It's possible that the PS4 version looked somewhat sharper, but that may have just been my imagination after confirming the hard resolution difference.

Wait what? "I saw the resolution difference... but it may have been my imagination."

What?

And if framerate is what scored the Xbox One version higher, how come the Xbox 360 version is 6.5 along with the PS3 and PS4 versions, am i missing something?

ok sorry isnt 800p..you right is 1920*800

i ditn know about the black bars

other games will use it on ps4?
Not yet.

Beyond - Two Souls used this trick on PS3 and it worked due to the movie-like presentation. Same deal with The Order, I'd imagine. I don't think it will be common, however.

It's not the same situation. Dead Rising is not multiplatform. What does this have to do with anything? Come on.

So why didn't they score the PS4 version of AC4 higher than the current gen when it maintains a better framerate and has nicer visuals? There's definitely a weird double standard going on.
