I wonder if Capcom will neuter their roster too. Having Ryu but no Wolverine seems weird. I wonder if they'll have the main bad guy excuse some of the main characters on both sides from the plot.
I don't actually mind the idea of culling a large part of the roster to look at new characters.

Doubt it. Most definitely get the Actors of the Avengers Assemble, and Guardians of the Galaxy cartoons to reprise their rolls.

afaik, Sony (Pictures) owns the rights for Spiderman (film adaptations) so it was rather easy for Sony getting the Spiderman exclusive

A shame that it would just consist of the MCU characters, don't think there is any character there that I actually like. Then again I also didn't know most of the TvC cast and that game is easily the best VS game Capcom has ever made so there is hope that with some originality some characters could be very fun to play. Hoping Capcom is a bit more out there with their character choices like they were with TvC than they were with UMvC3.
Considering Renner previously scoffed at even the idea of being on a Netflix show, I would say no lol.

Capcom doesn't have as many huge characters/franchises they can sell games on. They have SF, RE, DMC, DR and MH. They really need those Ryus and Akumas to sell the game.
They can't afford to neuter the Capcom side of the roster. That means characters like Strider, Dante, Zero, Wesker, Morrigan have to stay and they have to get in Megaman back.
Remember, any time they put in some obscure character... people are going to riot with "why did they put in Y character over X?" Saw this a million times for Marvel 3.
I also wonder if they'll take MCU characters as they are from the movies, or from the comics. I wonder if the Marvel mandate was to push characters like new Thor, Morales Spider-Man, Kamala Khan, RiRi (lol) Iron-Man.
Given Marvel's work with Insomniac I guess it's doubtful.
I don't mean removing franchises. But having Street Fighter represented by someone like Ken or Sagat. Resident Evil by Leon instead of Chris or Jill. That sort of thing.

I'm more upset with Doom not returning, as my team of Strider/Tron Bonne/Dr. Doom (since MVSC2) will feel disjointed. And while I feel indifferent with the lack of mutant characters, I do feel sorry for people that main Wolverine (since his apperance in Children of the Atom) won't be able too.
As for the rumour of this game taking a page from the MCU...I would've liked the game taking more inspiration from the comics, but whatever.

So what does Groot do? Die and come back again? Why would anyone be excited for this character? Does he extend tree arms like Dhalsim? That would make him interesting in a game.
Holy shit haha. What if he resurrected like Phoenix but instead came back a Viewtiful Joe sized baby Groot? I'd main him day one for the laughs.

You should be more worried about the Marvel side.
Maybe as a support character he could use himself as a shield against enemy attacks and die. That seems fitting.
I'm not that fussed about the Marvel side. Not as big a fan of X Men and I like the MCU, so I'll probably enjoy it regardless.

People are really jumping all in with this whole idea that live action Marvel doesn't have beam supers or air combos and thus "won't work" as a Marvel vs Capcom game.
There's plenty of Marvel characters outside the Fox ban they can still use. It's not like "MCU" characters are going to be suddenly grounded all of a sudden.

As a horror fan, I'm legitimately curious how many Resident Evil characters are going to be in this one. With it and Street Fighter being Capcom's flagship series right now, and with RE as the only series Capcom is releasing consistent games for currently (not to mention they've recently been describing the RE characters as 'Superheroes' in most interviews), it'll probably have the second most Capcom representation after Street Fighter. Curious who they'll pick (obviously Wesker will be one due to his popularity, in general and in the last Marvel vs Capcom game). I'll bet it'll have 3-5 characters, probably 4.

Wesker and Jill seem like safe bets since they already have movesets in mvc3 they can port and touch up, my guess is either RE7's protagonist or Leon for a third playable if RE gets 3.

They always use the comic book versions in these games.
Hawkeye in Marvel 3 isn't the MCU Avengers Hawkeye but the comic book version with purple circus outfit.
And some of you guys are listing some third rate Marvel characters in here. Honestly I doubt they will be using any character that isn't in Marvel Heroes or Contest of Champions.
