I wonder if people really care about the fact it's Marvel vs Capcom and what that means or the fact they just like specific X-men because judging a good amount of responses, people would willingly not play a new one, regardless who's on the Marvel side or how they play, if they can't play some of their characters. That says a lot about what this means.
Would they play a 16 character X-men vs game over a Marvel vs Capcom without the X-men? Who knows.

I hope the matchmaking for MvC4 is more accommodating for people on the boundaries of badness and goodness than in MvC3. I was good enough to be the best of the lower-level online players, but then I moved up to intermediate and mostly got worked. Like, I'll never have the time to be good enough to learn how to properly space a legitimately good player, but I stopped playing online because I got caught in limbo where I'd win enough to move up to intermediate, get rolled a bunch, and then get knocked back down to beginner, where I'd win a lot and move up, etc.
I just want to find the group where I can play and win and lose some and have good matches. The "thirtysomething dudes with fading reflexes and too much of a home life to beat the hyper-focused teenagers and twentysomethings group," please and thank you.

Hm, since X-men and Fantastic Four characters likely won't be in this probable sequel that likely means we won't get re-releases of the previous games on modern platforms, which is a shame.
Dormammu, Taskmaster and Nova are my must-haves from the Marvel side. Assuming their movesets don't change massively.
Capcom has another chance to finally give us Gene from God Hand and a Monster Hunter rep. They've given the lame excuse that they don't want a generic 'hunter' character in a fighting game but the monsters are the real stars anyways and Marvel has all kinds of stupid shit so why not.
In particular I keep saying Rajang from MH would be perfect in a Marvel game. He's not ridiculously oversized, he's fast as hell and literally has fighting game moves in his moveset (blanka balls). Has powerup and beam supers as his iconic moves. They could make his rage mode a mechanic where he powers up after taking damage and can go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND with golden rajang mode. He also had a bigger role in MH4U as that game's 'deviljho' so he's more recognizable now.

The ban doesn't prohibit older games made pre-ban from being remastered. Polygon themselves alluded to a remaster of UMvC3.
