No Capcom is a dealbreaker. I was thinking that I'd be even more excited for a proper Capcom 3v3 fighter that pulls from all their history, with no Marvel altogether. If this is just a bunch of Marvel characters, half of whom I don't care about, and no X-Men? Nah, I'll just play UvMC3 instead and play Injustice 2 (a totally different game, I know) for my superhero fix.

As for the gameplay changes, having 2 playable + an assist isn't unheard of from the Marvel series. And no one is saying that's what we are getting here, but there are some healthy reasons to go that route.

Yeah one would hope that Marvel/Disney has already planned for the day certain actors are no longer in the MCU and have some sort of likeness contract in place for toys, games, etc....
If they do go the actor likeness route though- that sort of makes me believe Iron Galaxy could be the dev. Lots of those guys are former Midway/NRS team members. Although seeing Capcom characters in a more "realistic" style.... ugh.....

Lots of folks freaking out about nothing. People were only discussing the possibility of a only Marvel fighter, MSH2, or whatever. Nothing's concrete until Capcom or Marvel says anything specifically about the game, if its even being made or not, or the events in question.
My biggest fear with these MCU rumors is that the characters will be wearing their movie costumes. Those costumes work in a live action setting, but theyd look like trash in a series as historically cartoony and over-the-top as Marvel vs. Capcom. I cant even imagine Viewtiful Joe or Phoenix Wright up against the MCU characters.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has my absolutely ideal versions of the Marvel characters (regarding appearance, voice, and overall characterization), so any sort of deviation is going to feel like a downgrade to me. MvC3 nailed the aesthetics.

The thing is, people love "mahvel" and to hardcore fans, Mahvel goes all the way back to Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes, there is a big chunk of fans who would welcome a new Marvel only fighting game with arms wide open, me included.
That said, i still preffer n MVC.

Well, it could piss off fans if they demoted Rocket from fully playable to tandem with groot, but before Rocket was revealed in MVC3, it's what most people wanted.

It can still work with movie costumes, as they are still kind cartoony in aesthetics. Like i mentioned earlier it would be a shame if they try to mimic injustice with its drab style because they think it will sell. Capcom obviously being involved wouldn't handle it that way but if Marvel gets there say on art style then it would go that route.

MCU costumes have appeared in a few games already, and I don't think they look good in any of them. I much prefer the traditional comic looks.

I don't think Marvel is ever going to re-acknowledge the EMH/Spectactular so I long since accepted whatever downgrade we get, voice actor wise.
Costumes I suppose what matters is the artstyle. If they stylize it, we should be fine.

Yeah but this was a cash-in, all they had to do was reuse sprites. The game you really should mention is capcom fighting evolution but that game got canceled

yeah i found that out yesterday but we confirmed it was held by someone in the FGC who bought the domain and just rerouted it to capcom website.

I don't think this has anything to do with whether or not they do a much better job of this in the future. It was a 2v2 with no tags and very little representation of IPs.
If they come back with a 3v3 tag, 32-36 character celebration of their IPs, that's another thing, and I think that people would absolutely play that.

Yes, but MvC3 didn't necessarily use the latest comic designs for the sake of it. Characters like Iron Fist and Magneto weren't as up to date as possible because their classic costumes were far more memorable. We even got the fictitious CotA Sentinel. I'd prefer that approach.
