Knowing he is Japanese, they show respect, win or lose.He probably scoffed and acted bemused because E33 was winning every award, not because his game didn't win any. If you were sitting through the Academy Awards and the same movie won every single award, by the 11th win all you can do is shrug and clap.
People who played it, said their praises or dissapointments and moved on. When someone goes out of the eay to call them pretentious, walking sims etc is when you know that people didnt actually played them.Comments like this tell me that no one actually plays DS2.
Because anyone who played the shirtless bro final boss battle playing rock guitars in a street fighter showdown would know the game is anything but pretentious![]()
Indeed, one success doesn't prove anything... But I'm referring to Sony, whose generation was so clumsy and lacking in good games... Nothing compared to their previous eras. One success doesn't prove shit. Its all about sustainability, and if you're taking half a decade between projects you're playing a very dangerous game as popular tastes and culture can move on a long way in that time.
I wonder if thats how people felt about ROTK's sweep. He probably scoffed and acted bemused because E33 was winning every award, not because his game didn't win any. Look at it as 33 being that good because Yotei and DS2 were top class. As was split fiction.

Kojima could easily get the funding and backing to make a movie if he wanted to do it. He's well known enough that he would bring an audience with him, moreso than plenty of early career film directors.Kojima is making games to be recognized as a great movie director.
Sure but it's safer to be an oddity in the video games industry than to completely switch jobs and be exposed to a wider array of potential criticism.Kojima could easily get the funding and backing to make a movie if he wanted to do it. I'm surprised he hasn't gone ahead and done it, tbh.
He will retire after this next game and the industry will be worse for it. Even if you think DS2 is a bit damp.
I never played KCD1. I did play the sequel and it has worse combat than Witcher 1. So it makes sense the sequel didn't win much or anything. If DS2 is more of the same so is KCD2.![]()
Theres probably sop in January/Feb as alwaysIt was very strange that we didn't see a DS2 PC announcement on the show.

God damn ... that bad?
Nah, that's hyperbolic. KCD2's combat, while clunky, is at least better than the combat in modern Elder Scrolls game because you have at least proper hit feedback. There's no game that has worse combat than Witcher 1.God damn ... that bad?

I mean look at the combat.
This is what people enjoy?

DS2 and Yotei were in fact top class. I've platinumed them both. Have you beaten them?
He got exposed tonight for sure
So you have to beat a game in order to not consider a game top tier now?DS2 and Yotei were in fact top class. I've platinumed them both. Have you beaten them?
So you didn't play Yotei? How far did you get into DS2.So you have to beat a game in order to not consider a game top tier now?
I did purchase and play DS2.
Far enough to know it's not top tier. A top tier game should be great from the moment you boot it up.So you didn't play Yotei? How far did you get into DS2.
Unless the game isn't for you? E33 I'd rate it very poorly for example because it's not my type of game even though it's GOTY.Far enough to know it's not top tier. A top tier game should be great from the moment you boot it up.
I'm tired of people saying, it gets good later. Fuck that noise. My gaming time is limited, so having to slosh through shit in hopes it gets better later is not something I want to do as an old gamer.
I do hope whether a game has been made by a small or big team has no influence in the awards. I.e. the development history and circumstances should not influence how the game is rated, imho. Only the game itself should be judged. Not the developers or the development.Actually I disagree. I think that this was quite a personal project for Kojima and so it'll have been hard for him not to feel disappointed by the response.
There's a .gif floating around showing his and Woodkid's reaction, and its very genuine and natural.
As I've been saying, the narrative surrounding the making of E33 made it unbeatable this year, however in 5, 10 years from now few will remember how much it allegedly cost to make, what the sentiment in the commentariat was about the industry in general in 2025, etc.
Its like who remembers what movie beat Scorcese and Goodfellas at the Oscars in 1990 ! As Kojima himself has observed, short term reception is often wildly inaccurate in judging historical worth.
