Poor packaging of Dualsense controller

I've bought second Dualsense controller for my PS5 and I'm quite shocked to see it comes in an egg carton like packaging. Whole box looks like it could be easily damaged if not properly handled. I know this sounds dramatic a bit, but this seems like the worst 1st party package that I've seen in my whole 30+ years 'career'. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This is picture from reddit - same package.

Good thing is the gamepad is in top condition, knowing how delivery guys like to throw the packages around. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I hate Sony’s flimsy outer packaging layer for their PS5 consoles and accessories. That shit is like wrapping paper
Also this, it's easy to tear it if you're not careful, shame Sony has this trend since PS4 with their packaging. I like to keep boxes so I can store old consoles when I don't use them anymore.

They pack an entire shipping container full of controllers. I think it will be fine as long as it dosn't get dumped into the ocean.

Seems okay?

They cut on all plastics and stuff. Maybe you're used at seeing something more "consistent" and now since these packages with paper everywhere it could seem weird...but it's more environment-friendly.

Exactly this. The controller (in box) is packed into a larger box filled with controllers, which is then packed into an even larger box filled with those boxes. The controllers aren't actually unpacked until they reach their destinations, be it an Amazon warehouse or a MediaMarkt store. If Amazon ships you a controller that's only protected by a flimsy poly bag, then that's on them.

Yes, it is obviously this - that's why I say in post that it seems more dramatic than it is. It is just a weird choice, it could be done like something they've done with PS Classic - cardboard, so it feels more compact.

Apple packaging and unboxing videos in general have ruined an entire generation.

I was so upset about this, I literally threw the box away and only kept the controller.

I mean .. cheap products going to have cheap packaging .. 🤷‍♂️

lol nah I love my dual sense collection. It's nice that after ranting every gen about Sony having super shitty LE controllers they finally go god tier with it.

I'M SHOCKED AND OUTRAGED

My Dualshock could've been damaged. It wasn't, but it could have, okay??

FIRE HERMEN HULST IMMEDIATELY
It was not that dramatic, maybe I did phrase it wrong - more like surprised than shocked. 😄

It's just that Xbox and Nintendo controllers come in nicer packaging, so this one caught me off guard. 😄

This is such a weird take.

Their packaging for everything is designed to use recycled and sustainable sources as much as possible, kept as thin and light as possible to minimize carbon footprint for transporting and be strong where it needs to be - using a lot of 2nd moment of area in the design- to keep the device protected, not the box from deforming in areas that won't hamper the device getting to the users undamaged.

It is a master class in low carbon footprint packaging for a device sold in the 10's of millions and people are criticising that? why?
