I host a charity event that pulls in around 50k-70k for Child’s Play every year, which isn’t a huge amount, but at least we donate 100% of the proceeds. The hell are these “influencers” doing?
Simple.
Like Hollywood and sports celebs, if they know they can command a fee for selling a product or promoting a charity, they'll ask for a fee to do the work. Also it seems they hired some kind of marketing company that cost them over $2M. Whatever they did who knows.
If anyone here really thinks all the celebs do their charity stuff for free with no fees, no free airfare, no free hotel and food, etc.... youre kidding yourselves. These are the same people who when commanding a big salary for a movie to also have the studio comp them free stuff in the entire city and pay the salary of their assistants driving them around.
If you (and any buddies included) can raise around $60k every year, you never know. I dont. But maybe if you guys told Childs Play you raise $60k every year and will stop doing it unless you get paid $5k, maybe they'll reimburse you a cut for 5k after its all said and done.
Or perhaps, you dont care about getting a cut no matter how much you raise and just keep handling it yourself for free.
Or maybe there's zero rules on charity giving. If you raise $60k, is there a law that says you cant keep half of it for yourself because you feel like it as you fee and operational expense?
