Clothes are different though. You can dress well without spending a lot on designer labels if you buy secondhand. Not wearing polyester t-shirts/shorts in public is an extremely low bar that everyone with a modicum of self-respect can clear.

My wife HATES how I run around in TShirts and even shorts that come from WalMart

Clothes is something I just don't spend much money on unless I just need some nice ones but day to day living I dress like a bum according to her

My wife keeps throwing out my worn tshirts. It's like she doesn't recognize the years of care and dedication it takes to get to this point. Also my confortable socks. No one sees them, who cares.

Damn we could be married to the same woman.

I couldn't tell you the amount of times I have looked for a shirt only to have her say she tossed it

And the older I get in my latter 50s those warm socks that start to get thin at spots are still warm but out they go as well

She HATES that I will buy a pack of colored tee shirts at WalMart and wear those out and about
