How is the Sly Collection on Vita? Or Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank for that matter? I've wanted to give them a shot, but I've heard discouraging things about their performance.

Afraid I couldn't say. Might sound crazy but I've never played any of those games mentioned D:
The Sly Cooper pic was actually from Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Sly Collection is solid. Performs great, controls well. Also, it's 3 separate downloads. Makes it way easier to keep valuable storage space clear.

Ratchet & Clank has been a bit of mixed bag for me. It's the original Ratchet trilogy ported to the Vita, so that's awesome. They're still great games. They're just better on any other system. While the first game is easy enough to control and performs alright (framerate can tank when there are explosions, especially near the end of the game), the second game really suffer from the Vita's lack of L2 and R2. For Going Commando, you're forced to use the right side of the back touchscreen for strafing. I'm strafing for a vast majority of the game, and it was a constant battle. Using the back touchscreen for buttons just isn't reliable, and I found using both sides of it to lock onto enemies impossible.

Up Your Arsenal fixes this by allowing you to change the control scheme. You can set it to auto-strafe, which works really well and doesn't hinder platforming (your movement is free when you have your wrench out). I don't know why Going Commando is missing these options. The only control issues I run into while playing UYA is when I have to use the back touchscreen to access the second quick select wheel, which is something I rarely have to do.

The R&C games are great and I think everyone should play them, but the Vita port has issues. I'm still enjoying going through them again, but the framerate and controls make it the worst version by a wide margin.

I feel like screenshots don't really do it justice. Playing it on the OLED really makes the colors jump off the screen, and it isn't nearly that jaggy.

The way the 3DS image upload works is that any image save on your 3DS (and not within the game) can be uploaded to any image hosting site. There is a camera found in MGS3D that allows you to take pictures and saves them to the 3DS. Unfortunately, it doesn't let you selfie, so no images of Snake can be taken.

The control options made Up Your Arsenal a really smooth experience. If I could keep it on my memory card without also having 1 and 2 on there, I'd leave it on there full-time. Unfortunately, it's one download that's about 3.5 gigs. I can't spare that space.

I think I'm about an hour into X-2. Don't really feel like I have any sort of grasp on the battle system, to the point that I'm considering watching someone more experienced play for a bit to see how I should be tackling it. I'm not having any difficulty with the battles, I just feel like I'm bumbling my way through them.

It is possible to play the game without a deep knowledge of Japanese?

Talking about Fuuraiki 3? I can read at a pretty solid everyday language sort of level, kanji is by far my biggest hangup. I was able to get through most of one route with no help, but had to turn to a guide when I got stuck. That said, I didn't completely understand everything, especially the more background-type information about the different locations. It is probably possible to play just the exploration part with pretty much zero knowledge, but all you'd get out of it are the different sights and sounds, and the fantastic soundtrack, which could easily be enough to satisfy if that's all you want from it.

Thanks! Yes I was expecting something like that.

This is one of the most relaxing things I've played in years.

Might as well post a few more since we're talking about it.

Hngh, y'all making me jealous.

I just made a request for this on NISA's forums. I know it'll likely go nowhere (my Ukiyo no Roushi request went nowhere either), but it's at least worth a shot...

Man, this game looks like exactly my cup of tea. I'll probably import by the end of the year if there's no news (NISA normally announce stuff at Anime Expo right? ... but it won't be this :()

Thanks for sharing the shots though!

Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy

Is this a graphical step above Operation Abyss? The locations certainly look more varied already from what I've seen of it.

The dungeon geometry and textures are pretty much the same as Operation Abyss, but it does seem like they added more particle effects and increased the quality of the 2D background images in a lot of cases (the city skyline for example). And yeah, there are some new locations that are pretty different but there are also some that are pretty much exactly the same.

As for Fuuraiki 3, it was published by NIS in Japan so it has that going for it with regard to NISA at least. I'd love to see it localized and it's probably a bigger possibility now than pretty much ever before, but still probably unlikely :(

Some more Operation Babel

Yeah, it was the city skyline that had impressed me and prompted me to make that comment actually. Thanks for sharing more shots!
