I thought the new Intel atom chips were pushed back further into 2015.
CES is incredibly soon we will probably get a more concrete release date with some actual products being shown then.
I cant wait to see Asus's rumored Asus t90 chi and t100 chi.
I hope both will run Intel Core M...
That would be pretty cool. I hope they can keep the price under $300 though
For someone looking for a more traditional laptop form factor, I wholly recommend the Asus eeeBook X205. (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OBA5AZU/?tag=neogaf0e-20)
This guy has almost the same internals as some of the tablets in here, but with a ~8-9hr battery life, and built in keyboard, trackpad, two USB, and microhdmi out.
Also, this thing is tiny and cheap. I've seen them on sale at around $140-$170, and at their lowest $99 on black friday.
A question for brain_stew if he's still reading this, how can I plugin a portable hard drive/controller and still be able to charge the device? could I use a Micro Usb hub to use multiple usb devices while still being able to charge?
If you're referring to the Linx 7 then you may not be able to. Some users at HUKD have reported that this cable may be able to achieve this but YMMV:

It will definitely not work with the HP Stream 7.
I only use HDMI and Bluetooth with mine so I haven't bothered buying one so I can't personally verify it works.
I finally got round to trying Crysis on my Linx 10.1 and bloody hell it actually runs and fairly decently too. All the settings were on low at 1024 x 786 but the fact it is running and fairly playable is staggering. Especially when I can't run the damn game on my i5 + GTX 670 and Windows 64bit (known problem that they will never fix).
Obviously these tablets will never replace a Desktop but they make a fantastic companion to a desktop. It is kinda mesmerizing to think that Crysis runs well on a sub 100 quid tablet when a few years ago I was struggling to get it running decently on a dual core with 8800gts. You have to wonder what it will be like 10 years from now.

Going to take a look at this today, has the same specs as the HP tablet (other than only being 16GB) but it also has HDMI and a USB port.

Shipping now we wait for a device to show up with it. CES starts today hopefully one of the manufacturers will be showing something off.
For now, it's been disappointing :/
I expected Asus to do it but no...
Well we have 2 hours before the show floor opens up and then 3 days of stuff. All the things that have been announced so far are preshow stuff.
Hopefully in a couple years we have some cheap tablets like this that are made for gaming so they can run these titles even better, and maybe even with built in controls for added portablility.
Intel just released the chip to OEMs yesterday. There shouldn't be anything on the floor running Cherry Trail.

Has anyone tried out any of the CCG/TCGs on Steam, regarding touch interfaces? Would love a slew of touch-centric card games for the Transformer.
Oh, and Warhammer 40K: Armageddon runs beautifully with touch interface.
Also, these tablets are compatible with a bluetooth mouse right or do I have to get a USB one?
Ok, so for awhile I've been kicking around the idea to build a nVidia Shield-like device to stream games to in my living room. (I can't purchase an actual Shield because I run an AMD set-up). This thread has really got me to thinking.
My budget is around $250. All I really want to do is to stream Steam games from my PC in the other room while I sit on my couch and play while the TV is otherwise occupied. Additionally, the ability to stream HD media, run games/emulators natively, productivity etc would be nice bonuses.
For starters, as a controller I'm looking at the iPega PG-9023 (~$30 at Amazon). This will work with a Windows 8 device, right? Several people have mentioned it upthread and other places. I looked at other controllers, but most will only fit phones, or look unwieldy with a tablet (gameklip, nyko clips, etc).
As for the tablet, I have it narrowed down to several options. These are the ones I'm looking at.
HP Stream 7 ($99 at Amazon)
7" screen
Intel Atom Z3735G Quad Core Processor (1.8GHz) (is the 1.8 a typo? should be 1.3?)
1GB RAM
32GB internal storage
microSD
microUSB
HP Stream 8 ($180 at Amazon)
8" screen
Intel Atom Z3735G Quad Core Processor (1.3 GHz)
1GB RAM
32GB internal storage
microSD
microUSB
4G connectivity with 200mb/month free (actually useful, since I have strictly metered Internet)
Winbook Tw700 ($95 at Amazon, no Microcenters nearby)
7" screen
Intel Atom Z3735G Quad Core Processor (1.3 GHz)
1GB RAM
16GB internal storage
microSD
microUSB
microHDMI
USB
Winbook Tw801 (~$190 at Amazon, no Microcenters nearby)
8" screen
Intel Atom Z3735G Quad Core Processor (1.3 GHz)
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
microSD
microUSB
microHDMI
USB
ASUS VivoTab Note 8 (~$149 at Microsoft)
Intel Atom Z3745G Quad Core Processor (1.3 GHz)
2GB RAM
32GB internal storage
microSD
microUSB
As far as I can tell, they all come with a year of Office 365.
Looks like the Winbook Tw801 would far and away be my best bet if I could get it at the $140 Microcenter is advertising, but I don't have any within several hours of me. I guess I could try eBay, but I've been leery of it the past several years. Also, I'm not too familiar with the brand. But it looks like it has great features for the price, even at $190 even. The microHDMI would really be nice to hook up to the TV when needed.
On the other hand, I think I could get by with the HP Stream 7, if all I wanted to do was stream Steam games, right? I don't know, what do you guys think?
I'm looking for a Tablet that can basically play League of Legends with no lagging/tearing at mid settings. So far I'm looking at the Asus T100 and was wondering if anyone better at this stuff could tell me if this is good enough or should I just go ahead and go for the T200TA for $200 more unless someone has something else in mind?
Also, these tablets are compatible with a bluetooth mouse right or do I have to get a USB one?
They're compatible with both.
Dont consider any of them with less than 2GB of ram. Out of your options the vivotab seems the best bet.
