Idle, I guess but I'm only running mirc and firefox (and there isn't much difference in temp when I'm not).

Smegging smeg of a smeg!
Mine hovers between 55 and 60 when I'm using it. Idle? No idea, I'll have to leave it idle sometime.

What's a good app for reading temps? I can't be bothered using the app that came with the mobo.

Also I want to see the temps now that I've hacked a blowhole + fan in the top of my case. :D

ummm...so I install Everest and then go to sensor and it's...blank. Like all the rest of the stats work fine but it's just blank.

My computer's been BSODing from overheating so I thought this would be good to see how hot it really is getting, but yea...blank.

You guys gotta use a program like MBM5 or SpeedFan to see your CPU's real temp. Most of you are positng the socket, not diode, temp.

First two are the ones worth noting; Temp1 is the CPU diode, Temp2 is the socket.
The only real way to tell if your CPU is overheating is by checking the diode temp.

CPU: 55 C
MB: 37 C

I'm running iTunes and Firefox. Is that too high? I thought it was normal till I saw the temps posted around here.

What's a safe range Diablos? Mine's Temp 1: 35C and Temp 2: 59C. How do I know which is what?

Granted I just got done playing WOW and it looks like it'll go down.

After seeing everyone else's, i'm a little worried.

Ermm, 71 is WAAAAY too high. What were you running? Even if you were running some really intensive program, I doubt the CPU's temp is even supposed to go that high.

It was 70 with just Firefox and Winamp running, then 71 with Photoshop aswell. Although it has stayed at 71 ever since.

I think I may have to check the cpu fan.

Anything around 60 is the limit.

My temps are usually 28c idle 46c after TONS of intensive work for the CPU. MB usually like 30 and the gfx card can get up to like 75c. Nothing too bad.

Is it normal for a laptop to not have visible fans or voltage?

That's my temp in the morning about 30 mins after turning on the cpu with a big cooling device (fans included) placed under it. Bought the cooling thing yesterday and haven't got a BSOD yet so it seems to be working somewhat.

Mine WAS running at about 55C idle, and even peaked to 73C with Windows Media Encoder running, though it would normally hover at 68C during load.

So, I decided to open the case, get the dust out of the CPU fan, which required poking at burnt on clumps with a form and blowing at them, and now I'm back to normal.

46C idle
57C load

What CPU do you have?

35C socket and 59C diode is way too far apart. Either your temp sensors suck or you didn't apply the thermal paste to your CPU properly. Unless, of course, you're using a Prescott or something. But the socket should be closer to the diode temp, kind of like mine is.

bolak, download speedfan right now!! What you're using only reports socket temp, and that itself is extremely hot. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
