Like they can do anything about it.

You think the states where it's legal are going to just give up the billions of dollars they're making from weed?

Not happening.

You mean Trump would not want a enlarged national police force for enforcing federal drug laws?

What a load of fucking bullshit if true. Trump will fuck over transgender folks in the name of state's rights but will use the federal government to fuck over pot smokers?

I can't absolutely believe Trump hasn't done some sort of recreational drug in his life. Hypocrite if he allows this.

You know what's more intoxicating than any drug? Power and money. And whatever specialty drug that Trump gets.

Option A: Legalize it everywhere, increasing state revenue and federal revenue via taxation.
Option B: Harsher laws increasing privatized prison profits, and keeping minorities down.

If I were a southern GOP member, what would my stance be...?

Yeah, don't worry about actual crimes. Ruin perfectly good people's lives over the fact that they want to partake in an altogether pretty harmless drug.

Eh, white kid that went to my school died in a local jail for possession. Obviously black and brown people in America suffer disproportionately at the hands of police, but nobody should be sanguine about this.

considering the drug war and mandatory minimums were specifically put in place to imprison black men? I don't need your #AllPotheadsMatter shtick over here, please read a book.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
When it's time for Jeff Sessions to leave this planet, I hope he goes in the way most appropriate for the era in which he lives.

Nah that ain't the troubling one. The completely out of whack sentencing for crack though, that was completely aimed at putting brothers in jail.

Tough on Weed legislation started to get MEXICANS in jail.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/30/nyregion/30about.html

A study released Tuesday reported that between 1998 and 2007, the police arrested 374,900 people whose most serious crime was the lowest-level misdemeanor marijuana offense.

And 83 percent of those charged in these cases were black or Latino, according to the study. Blacks accounted for 52 percent of the arrests, twice their share of the city’s population. Whites, who are about 35 percent of the population, were only 15 percent of those charged — even though federal surveys show that whites are more likely than blacks or Latinos to use pot.

Does this at all hold precedent over what a city/state decide to classify the offense?

Technically, yes, but it does not require cities or states to arrest or prosecute anyone. The feds would have to do it themselves on their own time and on their own dime. It's pretty meaningless though, since they could never afford to arrest and prosecute millions of people. Meantime, the country will continue to legalize it, state by state.

Of course this sack of shit would. Prison labor and the private prison industry is huge business for his kind.

Please, that is not what I said at all. I SPECIFICALLY wrote in my post that this will disproportionately affect minorities.

Imprisoning more minorities than any other country per capita with a growth of over 500% of the prison population in the last 3 decades, coinciding with the so called war on drugs. But hey! I know a white kid who was arrested once!!

you specifically took what I said to mention your white friend. If anything your insistence of centering whiteness regardless of intent is offensive.

You could have made your point without quoting my response.

We're on the same page friend.

I was just talking about roots while you're talking about Roots if you catch my drift.

I'm no fan of drugs in general but its clear what they're doing with it and it doesn't help anyone and significantly hurts minorities for no good reason. They started this way before private prisons were even a thing.

Sad but true. Literally no point in doing this.

I mean, he nailed it. It's to harm Black communities. Jeff Sessions hates Marijuana because he thinks it's something only black people do. So when he says "Good people don't smoke weed", what he means is "white people don't smoke weed, so it's okay to keep it illegal". It's a giant fucking sham, and I hope people fight back against this.
