I've never tried poutine, but can I just say that this thread is about a million times funnier if you replace "poutine" with "poontang?"

inside a restaurant?

Yeah, I eat at fancy places where magazine racks are the norm.

(They keep you busy while you're waiting for a table)

If they don't have a magazine rack, I'll push over the waiter.

Funny, the restaurant that has invented poutine is in my town. :)

In that last link, there is an english version that chronicles the invention of the dish back in 1964. The restaurant is still going strong, if you happen to go by the canadian national superhighway, between Montreal and Quebec, and you really want to taste the original, well you can. Altough I do not eat it anymore since a long while because I cannot eat fat food, this is the best I have ever had. The sauce cannot be topped, period. As for all of you finding it disgusting well, I think it's more of a cultural thing than anything else. ;)

We should all mail Willco some Poutine. Or sign him up to a Poutine of the Month club.

Good idea. It's just something that must be tried. I mean yeah, it SOUNDS and sometimes looks kind of nasty, but it tastes great.

On a related note, Chop Sewy is an American Dish. I don't know why I'm including this useless bit of information, but I am. :lol

Ketchup on eggs, now thats nasty

Mayo on fries isnt bad but i prefer vinegar and ketchup by far, vinegar and salt especially.

Ah man, no, Ketchup and cheese on a plate of scrambled eggs = awesome. Throw it between some good bread and you've got an awesome sandwich.

Ketchup mixed with mayo is a great fry dip, too.

I'm interested in this poutine you all speak of.

Next time I go up to Toronto I'm gonna look for some. Anybody recommend any restaurants that serve it in the Toronto area?
