Power outage in Dallas...

Power has been out for an hour. No street lights or anything. Can't drive in the dark like this. No way to charge my phone. No lights. Handhelds low on battery. Don't want to open the fridge and risk getting it warm.

Haven't experienced this kind of outage in years. What do you do without power? I'm bored. I don't wanna go to bed.
 
Is this Lewisville as well? I might have to check some stuff for work as some of my programs run off a server there.

Isn't that why they make headlights on cars?

Looks like it's a small outage effecting 683 customers ... they have an estimated restore time of 11pm. Just stinks to be you in the outage area.

Bet if you drive some distance the power is on elsewhere.

I forget how first-world I am until my electricity is gone. Then I don't know how to survive. Hahaha.

Oh. That's good ... they must just throw up random restore times in hopes of getting the power back sooner (I know my company does this as well.)
 
In Bedford power went out for a sec. That never really happens where I'm at. Looking outside it seemed to be rather dark everywhere. My bro and I heard a loud bang at first. He thought I slammed a door, I thought he did.

Maybe coincidence.
 
For an hour? Are you kidding me?

Most of the North East was without power for a week, some places even longer, 2 winters ago. Hell, from Christmas to New Years, power was out for Maine and Southern Canada. There's usually 2 storms a year in MA that knock out power for a day and it sucks.

And y'know what really sucks when the power is out? It's cold. You don't have heat. It sucks. I should get a generator, but haven't wanted to drop the few thousand to have a good one properly installed.
 
Not related to this, but some shit is going down around my apartment in Uptown Dallas. 8 gunshots heard. My friend across he street says two injured/dead. I am looking down and there appear to be two SWAT vehicles and a half dozen police cars all with their lites off.
 
So we had two SWAT vehicles, show up. And then we had a dozen police cars surrounding the building. All with no lights on. Very secrety which seems strange. Apparently the lobby windows have been shot out but I am not going down to check.

Uhhh, be safe.

And in the 24 years I've been on this earth, I don't think I've ever been in a power outage that lasted longer then 5 minutes.
