I got a ticket. People talk shit but the daydream is worth $2 and it's less morally complicated than porn so whatever.

I like these odds.

If I win, I'll finish everything I've started...then see if I can't afford to make some impossible licensed things happen for folks.

Also I'm not going to reply to this thread further because I just am wasting time.

Good. Cause you were literally sucking the life out of this thread.

If I win, I will fund a new season of Firefly. It would have to be 100% CGI cause everyone is old and fat.

Well not everyone. Just Nathan Fillion.

Wish it let you buy more than one ticket per drawing, but still, depressing and why I don't play the lottery.

Only way to justify lottery is knowing the money is hopefully going back into schools/roads/etc.

that money they expect to get from the lottery is estimated and removed from the budget usually, so if they expect to get 500 mil out of a lottery they'll remove 500 mil from school/roads and use that elsewhere

Thinking about it.

History of powerball numbers. If your combo has been drawn, it's highly unlikely that we will see that number pattern again.
Gonna look for a program that can crunch these and figure out what combinations haven't been drawn yet.

If I ever did win a mega jackpot, I'd definitely invest a lot of it back into schools and help centers. Another of that to impoverished neighborhoods too. No one person honestly needs $500 million to themselves to live happily.

I did okay all things considered

Money Spent $1,372,082
Money Won $1,131,797
Profit / Loss $-240,285

6597 years. Longetivity, son.

Did you know.... if you took $2 per week and invested it for 6597 years, holding the S&P 500 to 10% annualized returns including dividends being reinvested (8% price growth + 2% dividend yield), you would add up to... actually, Excel can't even calculate the number. But I can tell you that you'd pass 1 trillion dollars just a few weeks into the 208th year. The challenge, of course, is living the 208 years, but whatever.

Sorry guys, I need to win this to be able to buy an Oculus Rift and a rig capable of running it.
The flipside being, if I win, I'll make sure to do the same for some of you as well.

Haha, on a more serious note, good luck to everyone on Gaf testing his/her luck. :)

$500m, wow.

In Aus, the highest it usually goes to is 50-70m.

Yeh yeh, population bla bla bla, but still.. Insane number.

My office did a pool but I didn't put anything in.

They all keep walking by my office telling me that they aren't going to give me any money when they win.

Now, I know the odds are astronomically small, but can you imagine if they won? Every single person around me would be a millionaire without me. That would be soul crushing.

Curious, why did you resist? Adamantly anti-lottery? Too large of an investment? Dislike of forced involvement in a work group activity?

Reminds me of a recent event with a coworker, where they would not get involved with secret santa ($20 max, btw) the other ~20 of us were at a loss as to why this dude would not get with the (fun!) program.

lol, why didn't you join?

When they win, they're going to all buy diamond scepters and taught you with them.

I'm playing only because of an office pool. If I don't play then they'll win and I'll be the only idiot at work lol.

My cousin text me asking if I was gonna play earlier, so I ran up the street to play along. I usually skip it when it's the bigger ones and just play randomly for shits and giggles. But since he was asking me to, I put $10 I got from Xmas in.

I'm gonna miss that $10...

I feel bad for the suckers who bought tickets today since I'm going to win. Already have that plan in place.Whenever the powerball gets to some crazy number everyone in the family chips in two bucks. One ticket is the max I ever get.

Similar to how every time you shuffle a mixed standard deck of cards, the resultant order of the shuffled cards in the deck has almost certainly never existed before in the past. Except in this case, you are more likely to win powerball than you are to produce a card order that has been produced previously. Far more likely.

nah their are a lot more permutations for card shuffling than powerball
