Pre-E3 GAF Roundup Super Thread

how about we just go to your hotel room.
You are scary in so many ways.
And after your recent comments, you can take a running jump, muffin. ;-)

How long does it take for your registration to be confirmed through the online thing if you faxed the info in...

OK, so I'll ask again!!

If I register on-site, do I have to pay to get in even though I'm part of the media with neccessary credentials and all? I've looked everywhere on the E3 site with no mention of whether or not I have to pay, I've written a mail to responsible people on the E3 site with no answer still (it's been over a day now).
Their crappy service is starting to f-ing piss me off, because it's very important that I find out FAST in order to book a flight ticket and hotel room as soon as possible.

Folder can I come?
Mate. It's not down to me. All going to plan (the PR person I have in mind having the time - he's fully agreed already) I'll just post the bar and time/date. Everyone who can make it should. There'll be money behind the bar I guess. When it's gone, it's gone. Ta da!
:)

Media registration is free, no matter when you do it. You're fine.

OK thanks, I really appreciate your answer. And I hope you're 100 % sure, 'cause it would be rather awkward going all the way from Sweden and not being able to afford getting in. :/

It's on.
Just need to finalise schedules.
It'll be in a bar on The Strip.
There's a little Mexican joint just up from the Standard, opposite the Body Shop. Probably there. I can't say who's funding right now but I will tell you that members of the Drinky Puppy Club will be welcomed with open arms. Oh Demi... Why can't you get on a plane?
So anyhow, unless something goes horribly wrong, there's a bar for GAF with some money behind the bar for drinks and nibbles. As mentioned, as soon as I have a date and time, I'll let you know.
And you cunts better tuen up after all this.

Love Folder.

Way to go, dude. Free drinks are always good.

Folder, you are a good man. I'll buy you a free drink!

I should probably drop by and have a few drinks as well. I'm not a drinker though, so maybe you'll be one of the lucky few to see the drunken Kiriku. Telling Swedish sex jokes or similar...heaven knows. :|

Hey I know where that Mexican joint's at, small hole-in-the-wall place compared to all the other bars/clubs on the strip but seems like it's often a happening place for after-work happy-hours ($1 Coronas or something like that).

This is my 8th E3. I'm 100% sure.

By the way, if any fellow GAFers would be interested in going to a Dodgers game this time.. let me know. I was considering it with a few last year but it didnt quite work out and the whole thing seemed a little daunting since it was my first time in LA as an "adult."

I'd be up for that, I'm pretty sure I can make a night game.

Update:

So today I get this email through:

Dear Mr. ******,

Thank you for your booking request. We regret that the hotel is now fully booked at our discount rates. There's a game Tuesday night a few of us are going to. Marlins are playing.

Oh, and to fill out the questions:

So who is going to E3?

Yeah, yeah! 8th year in a row... god I feel oooolllld.

What part of town are ya staying at?

Hollywood - where all your dreams come true! Actually some other bloke booked us at the Hollywood Holiday Inn right on the strip, which I'm fine with since I used to work down the street - mama I'm coming home!

GAF Meetup again this year?

I'm missed last years, so I'll try my best to say "hey now". Make it a Nintendogs meet up and I'm so there.

Who is hitting up the press conferences?

Nada. Although if anyone wants to help get an ex-press member into some party action, I'd be down.

Can anyone help me getting into Microsofts press conference? I don't know any PR people at Microsoft and thus am having a bit of trouble getting an invite :)

Haha! I'm a member of the Drinky Puppy Club!

Update:

Okay do the GAF meet-up this year is now confirmed.

It will be the GAF Meet-up as Officially Sponsored by (Mystery Guest)

The venue will indeed be that little Mexican bar on The Strip. If somebody could name it (it's opposite The Body Shop dangerously enough) that'd be great.

Date to follow.
:)

Either way, we're there. The venue will indeed be that little Mexican bar on The Strip. If somebody could name it (it's opposite The Body Shop dangerously enough) that'd be great.

Wow, nice work, dude. Glad to see your efforts came together to produce something all GAF members at E3 are going to enjoy.

Awsome. Folder is a pimp.
I am indeed.

Tis done. The GAF meet this year will be sponsore by... *drumroll* Nintendo.
It will be held on Monday night before the show in the little Mexican bar, the Cabo Cantina, on Sunset Strip, just up from The Standard and across the street from The Body Shop. (Thanks Teddman!)

There will be free drinks for all.

Time is 7.00PM

What I could do with then would be an idea of the costings so if you're coming, please email me: gafmeet2005@gmail.com

And I'll edit this post accordingly.

List of attendees:

Folder
Mrs Folder
KyotoMecca
Boutrosinit

As ever, if you're there, let me know.

If there's any chance of a GAF meet-up sticky thread, so I can keep an eye on this, that'd be great.
If not, bump this thread when you reply to the email address.
Looking forward to it!

:)

Apparently I will be able to make it into the Nintendo press conference after all.
Quick question: Should I just completely remove my big green hat for that out of respect for everyone? How crowded is it in there?

Absolutely Serious Request

I'm in dire need of splitting a hotel room or being able to stay with someone for the E3 trip. Unfortunately my only friend in the area is spending time in San Fransisco playing in a concert and that means I have no place to stay. If anyone from GAF can assist me please talk to me in private either on AIM (removed) or e-mail (removed). I will be in debt to you forever!

So I've been approved for quite some time but I haven't received my badge yet. Is anyone else waiting?

One last thing, Folder you are AWESOME.

awwww fuck. my roomie bailed on me and now I'm out of a roommate for E3.

If that isn't bad enough the hotel that we has reserved was overbooked and we were on the cut list!!! Angry!!!

Boy, this is just the "bad luck" thread...

My contact for my media credentials forgot to talk to her producer and o.k. my report. The producer decided he didn't really feel like an e3 feature this year.

Grunt.

Unless someone stumbles across 2 e3 passes they don't need, I'll be busy maniacally scouring my list of contacts to procure a new media badge. Up until yesterday, I was ready for my flight.

Element, TekunoRobby: You two should get together. If you need a place to stay, check Stillwell. It isn't great but will do the job and is cheap, close by, and may have rooms left.

Mofo said:
Dave, I can throw at least one pass your way.

Hey, many thanks! If I know I can actually arrive at e3 without being turned away, I feel better about being able to get a second pass for my assistant.

Now to double check the rooming.

Element, TekunoRobby -- if you guys end up without a room and my 2nd person can't get in, I might be able to help you out.

Looks like a fun little dive. :D

Come after you tart!
We'll be there late.

Monday night? Arrgh... I won't be there until Tuesday. Scratch that... I assumed it wouldn't be until that show had actually started (Wed/Thurs/Fri night).

I move that we hold a lunch meet-up on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, as well as Folder's pre-e3 gathering -- at the very least so that we can get an e3 2005 GAF photo.

Anyone have last year's photo handy?

Irk. This is going wrong.
I'll look into options.
Stay tuned.
:)

Oh you fucking muppet!
Okay, let's reslate.
Might lose the Nintendo sponsorship though which would be a shame. A Nintendo-funded GAF adventure would have been glorious.
I'll ask my man and see what he says.
