Premium Reactions

Not sure if this has been discussed or not.

I've seen a number of users claiming they'd like, for example, a face palm reaction (I as well), or more elaborate and concise reactions, over the ones we have. That's not to say I don't enjoy the ones we have.

So comes my question. Would you buy, like a single reaction to use, like say, for 99 cents, or a dollar? Or, for 3 dollars you get 50 uses of a particular reaction, or any permutation of the above.

Before someone claims I'm a shill, or work for Big Malka, i'm just a realist, I know GAF's traffic has been hurt from the split, and I've loved coming to this site for as long as I can remember, and know it's not cheap maintaining a website, and want it to stay. I feel this could be a win/win for all parties.

Thoughts?

Did you say satire when reactions were added? Did you ask satire when Gold was added?

Why? Lets read what the others got to say
I know, lol was messing.
Just kicking around an idea. Figured expanded reactions wouldnt come unless there was a monetary reason to add more, or adjust the ones we have.

Sure, why not. I'd pay for something like a reaction indicating that a post gave me an erection.

Then again, I am filthy rich.

I guess I don't know what you're trying to highlight?

What if it was just a series of thumbs up likes that grow increasingly bigger to give you range to show your level of approval. The bigger the thumbs up the more you like it. Pay Evilore enough and you can use a thumbs up big enough to fill the page on its own. Then we can all chase the high of having that honour bestowed upon us.

I..like it.

The problem with adding any ostensibly negative reaction is – multiply it by a million – you end up with users turning it into a mechanism for trolling and dogpiling rather than articulating disagreement in a post.

But if it costs you to drop a facepalm or angry face on someone, that becomes a different story. “This will hurt me more than it hurts you.”

And if 20 people facepalm your post, at least you can take a twisted solace in the economic cost you inflicted on your detractors.

I understand the argument against, but you already get dogpiling with likes and lols. I should of phrased it differently. I just want a few extra reactions, but imagine that it's not cheap. Hence the paid part.

I think the lack of facepalm emoji is deliberate.

Originally there were just likes, and that was a way to demonstrate support for a post versus people quoting the whole thing and saying 'I agree' but not necessarily adding anything substantive to it. A good way of keeping down post spam and making life easier for mobile users.

Likes got expanded to a broader series of reactions a couple of E3s back (IIRC) but they are all ostensively positive of funny though it's a lot about deployment. The idea was never to go full negative because that would just turn the forum into Reddit or Eurogamer.

Is there room for more reactions? Sure, but they need to not cover what's already there and remain largely positive in tone. This subject has spawned a few threads over the last couple of years.

Well, many people hate being nickled and dimed, but it's not my place to tell anyone how to spend their money. If the option to pay to click a reaction is worth it to some, then by all means... If I were the richest man on the planet, I wouldn't do it.
I can't say shit about microtransactions etc, I've spent hundreds of dollars on Path of Exile.
