Can people who say that Trump was winning/tied in the beginning elaborate for me please? What I saw right from the beginning was him being unable to answer questions, instead ranting and raving about losing jobs to Mexico and China and name-dropping Reagan. The first question was "how will you create jobs?" and his answer was "UNINTELLIGIBLE BABBLE FOR 90 SECONDS, A LIE OR TWO, AND OH STOP THEM FROM LEAVING IN THE FIRST PLACE WITH TAXES I GUESS." Zero policy, no plan, inability to speak a clear message.

This. Even right from the start he was babbling and losing the question.

didn't this happen within the first 30 minutes?

holt - tell me about how you would bring jobs back to this country

trump - well let me tell you about all the jobs leaving this country

It sure did.

I don't like the guy... but wouldn't showing that he hasn't paid tax and gotten away with it with some loop hole... the kind of thing you'd want in his campaign of how broken the system is? I mean it only furthers his point...
He isn't showing how broken the system is, he is abusing it. Those are two completely different things.

I think trump came out swinging, it was hit after hit after hit. He was solid throughout the entire debate, he was clear and in control. He was right when he said he has better temperament than Hilary, all she could do was sit their with a stupid grin because what he said legit shook her. Trump won by a land slide and she really didnt have any sort of retort to say back. Cant wait to see what he does the next debate

Trump came across as flustered throughout the debate to me. There were several points during which he was screaming and attempting to shout over both Clinton and Holt, and he was really shaken during the racial and birth certificate lines of questions. So I completely disagree with his assertion that he has a better temperament than Clinton when he constantly loses his cool.

Clinton also responded to many of his comments, and did far more than sit there with a stupid grin on her face. Trump kept fluctuating and going off topic to a far greater degree than Clinton did, though she did so as well a few times. Trump kept saying "wrong" repeatedly, even though he was the one lying, multiple times.

Furthermore, his admission to tax evasion, his non-response/outburst of "nothing" to racial healing, and his statement in regard to blowing up a ship all came across as something that would have easily sunk a candidate's campaign in the past. None of those will result in anything because Trump is completely untouchable. The media will likely mention those three things for a few days before moving onto something else, and they will probably be forgotten by the end of next week.

Edit: oh never mind, you were just being sarcastic.

I really wish Clinton called out Trump for saying "YOUR president", I would have immediately responded with "he is OUR president, Mr. Trump. You are after all an American citizen".

Uh no. Why would he have to keep any scruples once he becomes president if we excused the fact that he abused the system for his own gain? Admitting he's used broken systems just means he thinks people are dumb enough to vote to give him more access to power to wield incorrectly

The way this reads it doesn't even sound like you believe it. Is this a troll job?

Really minor thing, don't want to actually discuss the politics (as thats get me into trouble lol), but just something that surprised me as I assumed both campaign staff would deal with it.

Donald Trump's makeup looked weird and it seemed like Hillary had something in her teeth. Oh, and of course Trump's hair was a disaster but that's expected.

I know the physical aspects shouldn't matter, but how you present yourself does make an impression. I guess I also haven't watched either speak that much.

Considering the rate he was spewing bullshit, it'd be impossible to catch everything. She had some pretty good zingers, though. Especially that bit about preparing for the debate/presidency.

Aren't you from a Muslim family?

It doesn't concern you that your family and friends will probably be targeted under Trumps presidency?

And what about his commentary regarding other minorities, foreign policies, abysmal financial record and etc.?

Edit: nvm, it seems you got yourself banned.

He's graded on a curve. Discipline was his only requirement and he failed but he gave it a few minutes. Tax returns and the Birther movement broke his brain.
I like that she refused to take his bait deflection about the emails and in fact called out that he was trying to avoid the subject of his taxes by changing the topic to her. Instead she went ahead and ripped on him for it.

He did the same with the birther stuff, kept trying to end the topic and move on and say "I ended it let's talk about something else", but she kept on him about it (as did the moderator frankly) and he crumbled.

Listen.

As much as I hate a smug grin, I think Hillary (the master of the grin) had every reason to use it during this debate. It's an appropriate reaction to the words of Trump.

I just find it funny to think that people use that against her. C'mon. Of course there's a level of smugness and confidence to it but goddamn, Trump is the kind of guy who would love if fact-checking weren't a thing. It's hard not to smirk at pretty much anything he says, especially when it's off base. And I actually think he had a couple of decent points in this debate, albeit drowned out by his desperation to sound qualified for the position of president.

So...

You think Trump uses the Bill cheated card next debate or he saves it for the final one?

I think he doesn't use it and just string the media along with it. He knows she's waiting for it, and being a guy who very publicly cheated and ruined his marriage Hillary will just use any condemnation of adultery against him since she is the only one between them not guilty of it.

My mind is fucking blown right now.

My sister thinks Trump was fantastic in the debate, solely due to him going after Hilary's record on foreign policy, her stint as SoS and the role she played (???) in the rise of Islamic extremism.

She rationalizes her choice by assuming Trump will keep his fuckery contained to a domestic level and refrain from engaging on the international stage and fucking up like Hilary did (???) in the ME.

This a university student in Finance, with a stellar academic and community-volunteer record, yet she says she'd support Trump. We're Muslim too.

I just wanted to vent...

So, can we make #CallSean a thing?

I was just sitting there in astonishment as he was ranting and raving about Sean Hannity, beacon of journalistic integrity.

What am I seriously the only one who thinks we have awful candidates?

I am not in love with either of them, but Trump is just so, so, astronomically worse that there is no question in my mind that Hillary must win this election.

You don't have to be happy about supporting Hillary, but sending your vote anywhere else would be irresponsible at best.

Undecided voter on CNN just layed down the truth... "If this is how he runs his campaign and his unpreparededness, I can only imagine how he'll run the presidency."

i didnt mind it later but at the start it felt unnatural. She earned that grin though.

well he's already patted himself on the back for not going down that road yet

I think he'll bring it up outside of the debate when he can get a cheap shot in, but he doesn't have the guts to actually mention it during the debates. He'll probably do his best to dodge it because he doesn't want to talk about his various affairs.

If he does, it will be brought up in the Debates.

To me it looked like the kind of grin that's desperately trying not to burst out laughing.

Hillary was like a cat playing with a mouse. She played with it for a bit letting it think it could win, but after a while she started trapping the mouse in a corner. If the debate had lasted five more minutes we would have watched a mouse getting its head bit off on live tv.
