Problems joining buddies games in Xbox Live... PLEASE HELP

Just recently (starting last week), I have been having problems joining buddies games in Xbox Live. I've had problems in both Halo2 and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. Halo2 tells me that I cannot connect to the party due to network problems... "Sorry about that" and SCCT tells me that the session is "no longer available". These are the only 2 games I have tried. I cannot join anyone's party and they cannot join mine.

I have not made any changes to my network. I am using a wireless router, but my Xbox is hard wired (not wireless) to the network. The only thing I can think that has changed is that I added a wireless gaming adapter, but have not changed any settings in my router and am not using it at this time.

I have tried rebooting my router and cable modem with no success. I can join any "optimatch" game that I want but cannot get into my buddies or they cannot get into my custom games.

Any suggestions? I can't live without my Xbox Live.

Do you have any firewall in your router/pc?
if not maybe you and/or your friends are using a ISP that use NAT and is filtering or blocking the access to the ports that xbox live use.

Did any of your friends change ISP? Like FiRez mentioned, I'm just assuming that might be part of the problem. I used to have the exact same troubles connecting to a friend who lives like 10 minutes away but I could connect fine to one of my British friends, and if I joined the British game my friend down the road could connect and communicate with me just fine. Now I have a new ISP and can connect perfectly to my local friend but have troubles connecting to a different British dude (the first British guy mentioned is still connectable).

The same thing happens with my friend and I. We can't play anything together. Can't be the ISP becasue we both have the same one and we can connect with everyone else. Can't be the router, since again, we can connect with everyone else. I emailed MS about it, bu they obviously couldn't help. We could play Halo at least, but only if someone else hosts the game. It doesn't make much sense.

That's the EXACT same thing happening to us....and it just started a few days ago. Weird.

There are 2 of my buddies that I cannot get into my rooms. Everyone else can get in just fine. We have to find one of those buddies to host and if one isn't on the double team matches in Halo are not possible.

In one of our games, we had a 3rd party host it. When that person had to leave, he turned the game over to me. Once he did that.... the one guy that normally cannot join my games was immediately booted and could not rejoin.

Very weird...

It's a NAT type error - it's not exclusive to Live, it's just that on a PC you never find out what happened. Plug directly into modem, have buddy plug directly into modem, change firewall settings, switch ISPs or ultimate kludge - get someone else in the party to send you an invite. Infuriating but it can't be helped.
