Can anyone suggest a few more bands like Porcupine Tree or Dream Theater, I'm really into prog rock atm. Thanks.

move over bitches, I'm here.

Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane
Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element
Pain of Salvation - Entropia

you need to listen to their whole albums to get them.

Yes songs:
Heart of the Sunrise
Southside of the Sky
Owner of a Lonely Heart
Close to the Edge
I've Seen all good people
Starship Trooper
Gates of Delirium

Rush songs:
2112
Tom Sawyer
The Necromancer
The Fountain of Lamneth
Hemispheres
Mystic Rhythms
Natural Science
The Weapon
Losing It
Red Sector A
Distant Early Warning

Spock's Beard Songs:
At the end of the day
The Great Nothing
and the album Snow.(Concept album)

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
(concept album and only album I've heard by these guys)

The Flower Kings songs:
Love Surpeme
Driver's Seat

Pretty much anything by Pain of Salvation. As keffkaff said though...whole albums, not individual songs.

IMO Pain of Salvation is about as good as music gets. They just a really tough act to top.

Sonata Arctica can be a little progressive at times (especially in Winterheart's Guild) but it's a stretch to label them as such. They're way more power metal than progressive rock/metal.

And someone forgot to mention Liquid Tension Experiment. Oh and Ayreon too......

I'm also very into prog rock/metal lately.....

For a great progressive metal/rock internet radio station, check out:

Most of the good stuff has already been listed. :) Do check out Liquid Tension Experiment, Ayreon and Pain of Salvation. POS does take some effort. I didn't like them at first, but the more I listen, the better it gets. There is just so much going on in each song, both in the lyrics and the music. Good good stuff. Ayreon is similar in that you've really got to listen.

Symphony X is another one of my favorites. More on the neo-classical side their progressiveness comes out more in their use of bizzare and shifting time signatures than in changing musical styles. I'm a neo-classical nut so I love 'em to pieces. If you like them check out Adagio, who are very similar.

More powermetal than prog, Avantasia are wonderful. The Metal Opera part I and Part II. Simply fantastic music.

Nevermore (maybe)
Ark

Can't think of any others right now, that haven't been listed.

Eh, I wouldn't call Nevermore progressive.

Spiral Architect - INSANELY technical stuff. It's a shame that the vocalist is sub-par.

Assuming you haven't checked them out already, Marillion's better albums would be more than worth tracking down, specifically "Misplaced Childhood", "Clutching at Straws", "Brave", and "Seasons End".

And I never miss an opportunity to plug Sieges Even, specifically their two most recent albums, "Sophisticated" and "Uneven". They'll be difficult to find, though.

Also, although they're more "power" than progressive per se, I heartily recommend Angra. "Holy Land" and "Rebirth" are both excellent, and their new album "Temple of Shadows" is simply fan-freaking-tastic. Far and away the best power/prog metal band working today IMO.

Ahh, by prog rock I assume you mean Yes, Styxx and Procol Harum? Damn, I knew you'd turn into a hippie some day and abandon your baltic death metal. :D

Eminem

goddamit, Griese!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, I already have all the Opeth albums, as well as most Rush cds, I'm checking out Spocks Beard and Pain Of Salvation now, just looking for some more albums. Yes Calder I do mean bands like Yes, I still listen to my "death metal" but I also like this sort of stuff too. OH I have a few mp3 cds of yours somehow too, I'm to scared to see what's on them, maybe I'll give them back to you next week :)

I'd like to add The Postman Syndrome - Terraforming. That album is beyond amazing. And perhaps more melodic death metal, but still worth a mention: Novembre and Ephel Duath. Incredible, and both from Italy. And, like others have mentioned, you can't go wrong with Pain Of Salvation. My personal favorite album is The Perfect Element, Part 1.
