Protests against Trump in NYC and other cities

Sadly it will come to nothing. Just as many people elected him and the US Army is too powerful for a revolution to occur..

Look at what happened in Ukraine. The military there straight up murdered its citizens and they still persevered and got what they wanted. If enough people are dedicated enough a revolution can happen.

Is there any historical precedent for this? I'm sure there have been post election day protests but anything of this magnitude before?

Well, maybe now that he really is the President-elect, the Donald has the potential to be the biggest galvanizer for the Democratic party...

...This could be the silver lining to the depressing reality we now find ourselves in.

It's just a shame this didn't occur, y'know, before the election.

I will repeat myself: AMERICA NEEDS TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT IT IS BETTER THAN A PUSSY GRABBING, RACIST DEMAGOGUE.

What its doing is setting a tone. One of anger that will hopefully hopefully fuel the fucking Democrats to finally for once in their goddamned lives turn out for the fucking midterm elections in 2018
Tell me your thoughts if it was the other way around. Would love to hear them. Honestly! Not to mock them but maybe I'm missing something.

There's a reason for the Electoral college

Is there? The EC is largely irrelevant in most elections, and the times in recent times where they mattered for the outcome, the result was the worst fucking possible candidates winning and fucking up the US.

Protest all you want, but them bitches ain't getting their ass out of their coaches to vote, so who them bitches be going to complain to?

Why do rural areas get disproportionately large influence over the cities that subsidize their existence? Why do the cities have to bend to the will of the people who depend on them?

They don't. A city voter in PA is worth as much as a rural voter in PA. Why should a CA voter have more worth then a PA voter? That is what the EC causes. Huge population states get more votes but they don't overwhelm smaller states just because they are many times larger. The US is supposed to be for everyone not just the highest population areas. Part of the mess we are in now is because all of the wealth is being gathered in large cities on the east and west coast.

We all knew the rules going in and you can damn well bet if this was the reverse you guys would be saying the same thing.

Oh I know, I'm not advocating that the popular vote is awesome, Brexit is an example of it going horribly wrong. I'm just merely pointing out the error in the statement I quoted; electoral college elected Trump, not the country or will of the people.

The thought of Liberals uniting with someone like Trump, and that potential cabinet of his is HILARIOUS, especially after 8 years of Obama getting completely screwed by Republicans. in spite of his naive tendencies for diplomacy.

EXACTLY. Obama never had a fucking chance to do his thing as he should have been able to. He naively made the mistake of still trying to work with the GOP when he had both houses and they bit him in the ass for it.

Liberals are now supposed to roll over for a president who'd rather shit on us than attempt even the smallest form of uniting the american people?

Well, I am not the one with Donald Trump as a President with the party supporting his ideologies commanding all branches of your government, so... congrats to your win, I guess?
I'm not either so I'm not sure why you keep trying to personally insult me after being wrong and doubling down. Rather pathetic no? 😉
the point is that complaining on 'where were they' against these groups when their respective areas did what they had to do is a bit silly. Now if there were protests in red cities then yes.

I know, I'm poking fun at all the people saying why didn't they vote

My thoughts on the protest: these are great! Dems should have had their voters this heated earlier.

However this is going to fall on deaf ears if it's only blue states protesting. If ever city in each state is attempting a large scale protest, I think more will come out of it. If anything, a message.

Yeah I don't get it.
If Hillary won and 16 hours later Republicans filled the streets protesting I know exactly how this thread would look.
Again I voted Hillary and want to vomit over her loss.

I would be loving the salt memes if reversed. But I support the home team and would love to be marching with the underrepresented majority just to mourn our sudden loss together. If that makes me a hypocrite, than so be fucking it. I'm at peace with it.

Sigh, people don't understand how democracy works. You either win or lose, guys here to stay until he gets impeached one day, maybe, hopefully.

What if Trump's response to the protests is saying that the first thing he's going to do once he's in office is get rid of the electoral college?

CNN interviewing probably one of the most informed and well versed protester I've seen.
