Take to the pitch in an acclaimed football sim and put the pedal to the metal in a nostalgic arcade racer with your next batch of PlayStation Plus Monthly Games, available to download from 2nd July.
Let's take a closer look:

Pro Evolution Soccer 2019

From Konami's long-running sports franchise, PES 2019 features a huge selection of real-world licensed leagues alongside hundreds of familiar players, bringing the thrill of global competition directly to your living room.
Create magic moments on and off the pitch, with each player possessing their own traits that will affect how they react in the moment, while myClub and Master League modes allow you to pursue your own club career. Enjoy local play for up to four players, or go online and test your skills against the world.
Horizon Chase Turbo

Prepare for a blast of pure '90s nostalgia with Horizon Chase Turbo, a love-letter to the iconic, just-one-more-go racers of the arcade's golden age.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Out Run, Top Gear and Rush, developer Aquaris Game Studio captures the essence of the 16-bit era with style, with modern visuals, a thumping soundtrack with insane arpeggios and classic split-screen couch multiplayer.
Play solo or grab up to three friends. You'll pilot your car through extraordinary places, watching the sun setting, facing rain, snow, volcanic ashes and even severe sandstorms.
Both Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 and Horizon Chase Turbo are available to download from PlayStation Store on
2nd July until 5th August.

Horizon chase looks pretty cool, no interest in football game though.
Pretty quiet month overall which is good cause I have too much to play anyway!

If it's the same Horizon Chase as the iOS jobby then its a bloody good game with amazing music, and I'm not even into racers.

The footy game can go take a long walk off a short pier though.

I really miss the small indie games as well. I still play a bunch of them like Letter Quest Remastered. Horizon seems cool but two games a month isn't doing it for me.

I'll give PES a go. Been kind of in the mood for a soccer game and never played a PES.

Soccer and racing, my two least favorite genres. Maybe next month we'll get football and golf to round things off. Maybe throw in a boxing game.

I wish I could get a refund for the rest of the months I have left on my PS+ subscription.

Is Horizon Chase Turbo a good alternative to something like Outrun 2 (which I am playing on my Xbox)? The game looked neat but so many of these "retro" games sell you on the graphics while the gameplay is barely a ghost's fart compared to the arcade games from which they draw inspiration.

You're racing against other drivers and doing laps, rather than racing against the clock. I think you'll enjoy it.

Paying ps+ for games I already own at this point :(

Yeah the service has rarely been worth it if the "free" games were one's main reason for subscribing. To me they're just the icing on the cake as I'm just paying to play online with friends. So it's a better deal than Xbox Live back in the day when it had no perks included and was solely paying to play online. I personally never really minded that (chump change to me) so PS+ and current live (if I had an Xbox still) are easily worth it. Hell, it usually more than pays for itself through the extra discounts in PSN sales and me buying the sub on sale for $40 a year most of the time.

I don't play online multiplayer games so that isn't a reason I subscribe at all. For me, it was all about the free games every month and the discounts. I'll admit that I've probably taken advantage of the discounts on PS+ to at least break even, and the free games are kind of icing on the cake.

I'd still argue that Xbox Live Gold is still worth subscribing to solely for the free games. They are giving four "free" games every month, two of which are BC games you get to keep even if you unsubscribe. And while I'm not so hot on this month's "big" game (NHL 2019) for the same reason I'm mad about PS+ this month, getting Portal and EDF 2017 to keep means those worked out to about $1.75 each even if I don't care about the Xbox One games at all. Though if Xbox cut out the BC games from their program and went to just two games per month, I'd probably not renew that either when the time came.

The PS+ service started out with the "free" games being the only reason for subscribing.
Now it's nothing more than an online multiplayer service with two games a month that you probably don't care about tacked on top...

I don't know what to say anymore.

Edit: They didn't even uploaded a yt video because it would get downvoted like shit. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah I'd agree Live is a better value. Just moot for me since I have no reason to own an Xbox since I have a gaming PC (I don't care about BC as I rarely play/replay prior gen games).

The "free" games thing was never that big a deal to me as I pretty much buy and play all the games I want. So it's rare for something I'm really itching to play to hit either service before I've bought and played it. There's usually just a couple things a year like PES that are things I'm interested in enough to download and play a little, but wouldn't have bought. Borderlands was nice last month though as my friends and I that I played BL2 with never got around to the Pre-Sequel for whatever reason (middling reviews, other games taking up our gaming nights around release) and we've been enjoying that.

The PS+ service started out with the "free" games being the only reason for subscribing.

Oh I know. I never subscribed back on PS3 when it was just "free" games for the reasons noted above.

They should be giving at least three games for now, when the PS5 releases then they can go back to two per system. Right now the value of PS+ is not looking too hot.

Horizon chase is one of my favorite mobile games.
Does the console version add new stuff or is it basically just a nicer looking port?

PES is crap though. Guess some people will be happy but with the recent price increase in some regions + the removal of Ps3 and Vita game you'd expect more than the last year version of the less popular soccer game

Horizon Chase is a Brazilian homage to SNES classic Top Gear. I heard that game was as big as Mario over there, the dev even asked the original composer, Barry Leitch to do the soundtrack for the new game. If you played the original Top Gear, you know what to expect, but better thanks to the smooth 60fps.

Horizon Chase is pretty good!
The developers are from Brazil, just like me. :lollipop_smiling_hearts:

Please tell us how big Top Gear was there! I'm not from Brazil but I loved the first two games back in the day.

Lots of new content: Tracks, cars, gameplay modes, etc. (4-player split screen is loads of fun). I think they're retroactively adding back some of that to the mobile version. They're still supporting the game adding more to it for free and they even do bi-weekly "seasons" where you play with rule variations and altered time of day for some tracks, and they haven't stopped. Acquiris just announced its roadmap for the second year of content with new campaign DLC and game modes.

Don't pass up on this game even if you're not a racing fan, it's easy to grasp but hard to master, pure arcade-style racing. The devs poured lots of love into making this game and it shows.

Horizon Chase Turbo is awesome, especially for people who played Lotus or Outrun when they were younger.

Couldn't care less about PES.

PES' sales must have really dropped after losing the Champions League and Europa League licenses. I have 2018 and still play it. I'll give 2019 a try but I doubt it's worth playing over 2018.

This makes me wonder why the hell EA haven't given us a new Fight Night😔

Rise of MMA has really killed interest in boxing. Especially among younger generations. So I'm guessing their market research shows a new Fight Night wouldn't make as much money as the MMA games.

I recently played the Horizon Chase Turbo demo and I really loved it! gave me them old Outrun vibes :) Was a little too expensive and was waiting for a discount, so this is great!

I'm not really into PES and/or FIFA, but I'll give it a go for sure. WHo knows, maybe I'll really like it.

Good month IMO!

It's supposed to be more like the Top Gear games on SNES.

Bought Horizon Chase on sale for my Switch a couple months back, really solid arcade racer. You guys should definitely check it out. But yeah, offerings like this remind me why I didn't renew my PS+ subscription. I barely play online and the games they are giving away have progressively gotten worse.
