Gaf, please help. I am so hyped up about this release(Australia 23rd Feb) I cant make any logical decisions about what to get.

Confirmed is: With horrid prices
Vita WiFi - $350AUD(I know.......) I should mention this comes with the Blue Earphones and a copy of Ridge Racer.
16GB Card - $60AUD(I know.......)
Uncharted - $59AUD(I KNOW RIGHT!)
Virtua Tennis 4 - $59(My wallet ><).

No Wipeout? Scrap all the others and just get Wipeout!
BTW, do u know if the copy of Ridge Racer (Game preorder?) is cart or digital?
I'm thinking get that deal since the other stores aren't even trying, and then trade in Ridge for credit towards Wipeout.

As another AusGAFer, I gotta say, the prices for Vita stuff here is kind of ludicrous. Launch titles are goddamn $68 for RRP. I never thought I'd have to pay that much for a portable game.
I kind of just want to order my games/memory card from Ozgameshop for cheaper, but then I'd have the Vita for at least a week with no games at all. Bahhh.

I just got my 3DS Hori screen protector in (the one reminiscent of the Vita one on Amazon).

Oh boy, best screen protector experience ever. No worries about applying it on my Vita now.

Any updates on this? Getting 3G if GPS works without signing up for data plan.

well, it depends. obviously you won't be able to use mapping services or anything like that without a data connection because you have to download the imagery from somewhere, but anything that simply requires your coordinates should be fine.

Quick update to those in the UK
GAME have just listed a deal
Wifi Vita
4 GB Mem
Uncharted
Preorder pack
£269.98
If you dont want Uncharted the deals also include
Wipeout
Everybodys golf
Touch my katamari
Modnation
Those games come out at £259.98
They also listed the Resistance game for £39.99 No release date though.

Sorry, this comment isn't really what you're asking for, but the first Lumines was the best game on PSP for a long time. Is there any reason why you're against getting the Vita one?

Just wait for SF x Tekken if you really want a SF game. Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX for PSP on PSN can hold you over if it's available to you. Shinobido is not quite a beat em up; you'd be better off getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus if you want something similar to satisfy that particular craving. Mortal Kombat will be a port of the console games with the DLC characters included; it has additional Vita content/functionality (touchscreen Fatality swiping, etc.) and online capability.

Thanks. I realize Shinobido isn't a beat-em-up. I meant if I decide to skip them and wait for SFxT either Dynasty or Shinobido would by my choice for 3rd game. Basically im buying 3 games locally to play at launch and then switching to online to save about $20 per game. Lumines tbh I have never played! Hopefully one of the guys at my local store will let me try it out.

Wipeout I will be getting from Ozgameshop. Will hopefully have it within a week of launch if they ship on time. I am not sure about Ridge Racer, the pre-order picture shows a cover and everything so hopefully a cart. I can ask when I go put money down on my pre-order next week if you havent found out by then.

My exact issue. I have told myself to limit it to 3 games locally which will easily keep me entertained for the week or so it takes games from Ozgameshop to arrive. With any luck if pre-order from Ozgameshop they will be here on the Tuesday(my purchases in the past have been around 3-4 working days)

Yeah i plan on asking myself so will post back when i know too!

If i were getting multiple games i'd get them all from Ozgameshop and preoccupy myself with Super Stardust Delta... you can use some of the preorder PSN credits you get.

Quite a few import shops in L.A. are selling the vita at a much lower price than importing online! So I picked up mine today..... all the stores pretty much sold out of all games. I really wanted Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3...

Is there I way I can download it on PSN for my Vita? I need a Japanese account don't I? How will it work with my CC and being in America and all?

I remember some third-party GBA games being up to $80, with all the Nintendo ones $70 at launch.

What'd you pay for the system out of curiosity? Wish we had import shops where I live, but alas....wisconsin sucks.

I did go to Hypergame (my first stop randomly) they had no vita and no marvel.

I had to go to "Japanese Video Game" out in like alhambra...

Trying to see if I can buy it on PSN...

I guess I could just pick up uncharted locally(one of my fav series of this gen) and play that plus a psn title to tie me over and get the rest from ozgame. Hmmm. Decisions decisions lol...

I was thinking of playing some PSN titles/demos while I wait for full games from Ozgameshop, but then I'd still need a memory card... I plan to get the 16gb, but again it's cheaper to import lol.
I might get a 4gb to tide me over til the 16gb arrives.
Is it a hassle to change memory cards on Vita and keep all account details and whatnot?

Anyone taking bets on Vita getting an Elder Scrolls game?

I'd even buy a port of Morrowind if they took out some of the overly tedious stuff.

No,but a clone can be cool, I said this in that other Vita thread,Sony need to bring back Drakan IP and make it like more Skyrim(but with riding a Dragon).

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are more in line with my interest !

Well, there's at least some reason to be hopeful:

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man behind Demon's Souls, has said he'd be interested in producing an instalment in the series for the Sony NGP.

"I like the platform. It's very attractive," he told Eurogamer during a recent interview.

"We're not considering it right now but there's always a chance. There's always a sense that I'd like to try and do something on that platform."

Miyazaki is currently hard at work on Dark Souls for PS3 and Xbox 360. He said that while he thinks the series would work on Sony's new handheld, any such instalment would have to be built from the ground up.

"If we were going to port [the series] to the NGP, I would probably redesign it so it fits the handheld," Miyazaki confirmed. "It won't be a straight port, if we do happen to do it."

Would be a sweet opportunity to make coop a focus. In keeping with the Monster Hunter craze.

Atlas psp games are all frozen at $39 on PSN?? Those games are all 1-2 years old too. Makes me kind of worried about going full-digital for Vita...

There have been sales on some of their games if that makes you feel better.

I looked that up and I see what you mean. So they have ridiculous prices but go half off every year or so. That's reasonable enough, but I wish every company would do the tiered pricing thing based on age instead of leaving everything full price like they forgot it was there.

My friend told me the same thing, but there have been sales, and there are going to be sales are 2 completely different things. No guarantee those games are gonna go on sale anytime soon. I really wanna get them myself, but not at $40 a pop. Especially when the UMD version are $20 brand new for Persona 1.

As long as you can wait I'd imagine the games will go on sale again eventually. I know some PSN games seem to go on sale multiple times a year.

$68 for RRP. I never thought I'd have to pay that much for a portable game.
It's RRP, street price should be cheaper, besides a lot of DS and 3DS games launched at AU$70 RRP. Difference is Sony end up having a budget line, so now its $15 PSP titles VS $50 6 year old DS titles

Think I'm looking to import also - local european prices:

Wifi/3G Vita console; €280/€346 (+- €10 based on shop)
Game examples;
- Uncharted; €53
- Wipeout; €47
- Deviants; €33
16gb mem-card; €60 (+- €5 based on shop)

*auch* Looks like some UK-dealer will be getting my Vita money :-D

Lol what? $70 has been the standard price of portable games since the GBA...

Well, I'm the guy who bought a launch PSP, a PSP-2000, and a PSPgo and hardly played any of them very much. To me it was worth keeping the platform around for the gems, and I'm never one to shun a platform even if I rarely play it. I have felt a little foolish for buying three models of the PSP while playing it so little, but I can't help but to think that the Vita just has more potential.

So yeah, even after being extremely down on the PSP as a whole, I'm buying a First Edition Bundle here in the US. I might be crazy, but I don't care.

HYPE HYPE HYPE

Say whatttt !@?

I'm on my PSP right now, and the most expensive I can find is $29.99 ?

Which is weird, cuz I wanna buy DOA Paradise, but I don't wanna buy it for $29.99 when I can get it elsewhere for like 15ish. I just don't wanna walk up to a GameStop employee with that game's case and be like, Can I buy this ?

o_o How embarrassing that would be !

Embarrassed? You're not the one working at Gamestop.

That's like feeling bad for looking at a stripper.

A few quick impressions of WipEout.

- Utterly gorgeous - as expected, but this is what you showcase the Vita with.
- Incredible sound design - always been slick with sound, but this certainly boasts an attention to detail in terms of acoustics and terrific engine noises.
- Smooth as silk, 60FPS warriors can go jump, it's damn fine...and I've been playing since the original.
- Photo Mode - rich with options, blur toggles and sliders, zoom and pinch etc., really well done.
- Online pass system, so I'm holding off on applying it to my Japanese PSN account and see if I can register it on my US one next month. No online for me, but I'd only be playing with folks back home in Oz, so if worse comes to worst and I can't register it, I'll nab a digital copy from the US store and trade or sell a pristine JPN version.

EDIT: Or simply buy another memory card and have one for each store. I am willing to do that for WipEout.

And yes, English included, so if you're wanting to import, go for broke.

Us newbies both huh!
Had you not said "finally been accepted" I wouldn't have even checked to see if my account was approved so thanks!

Interesting. £40 for Uncharted (£45 rrp) and a 4gb card (£18rrp) isn't bad. Any idea if the game is a psn code or a boxed copy? Hopefully more retailers follow suit with deals soon now that someone has started! I have no issue paying full price for the Vita and I got Uncharted locked in at £28 but if a decent bundle comes up with a larger card I might be tempted. 4gb is just too small for me.

That we aren't even being offered the choice of the 32gb is really annoying.

Lol what? $70 has been the standard price of portable games since the GBA...

I didn't get my PSP or DS during launch, so maybe I missed the high prices. Typically, I found portable games to be around $50 tops.
Importing has significantly skewed my perspective though. I mean, $70 for a portable game sounds like madness when I can import a new console game for $60 or less.
I just wish the prices would adjust after the Australian dollar has been so high for so long. :/

Exactly. Sony needs to address what PSN pricing we can expect for Vita titles, in terms of there being a discount over retail and if this would also apply to 3rd party titles. Price flexibility also needs to be improved. I own Knights in the Nightmare on DS and UMD -- I want to play it on Vita, but not at it's current $30.

I think unclarity about Vita PSN pricing is a significant issue that should be addressed ASAP and hopefully before launch. Since one must buy a memory card to get a Vita, adding pricing uncertainty on top of the other issues regarding how to split one's retail or digital games purchases hurts overall confidence in the platform and incentivizes "wait-and-see."

There is price flexibility on PSN. Smaller, niche games often retain high prices though as they know they have a limited audience regardless of pricepoint.

Ok, maybe my terming is wrong, but in my understanding this traditional terming doesn't quite fit as digital games have infinite supply. Many games are due to drop from their initial MSRP, whether niche or not. Knights is only my example from yesterday. It is 1+yr old and is $20 on Amazon new, $15 at GameStop new. It's been $20 or less at Amazon new since mid-March 2011.

Or: if you mean flexible relative to what people will pay, I am the niche (I own it and haven't significantly played it on two other consoles!) and I'm not buying it at $30.

I think the fact that SCEA isn't mentioning PSN prices for Vita games is probably a sign that they will be charging the retail price for the games. It's either that or they're still negotiating pricing structure with either third party companies or with retail stores.

BTW, do u know if the copy of Ridge Racer (Game preorder?) is cart or digital?

Asked a couple stores today, one said it wasn't clear in their documentation so they wouldn't know until launch. The other answered confidently that it'd be the boxed version but when pushed, he wasn't giving any guarantees... Also, only around $20 trade in value on Ridge...

Hi Everyone, can someone answer me a question about charging the Vita. I'm going to be buying a UK vita at launch but a month or so afterwards I'm moving with my family to Perth, Australia for good. I know I can carry on charging the vita over USB once I'm there but what do I do about mains charging?

Can I just buy an Australian Vita charger and plug it into my UK Vita without issue (as I believe the voltage is the same) or am I stuck with using one of those travel adaptor things forever?

Any advice would be appreciated.

If it's like the JP Vita it'll be 100-240V and all you will need is the AU plug end of the charger.... i use a Dreamcast or PS2 power lead on my JP PSP which is the same situation.
Probably you could find one of those in an electrical store... the alternative is buying the AU charger as you suggest, but it doesn't look like they're offering that at launch.

Where do you live in Europe? Here in Italy PSV is 249/299, somewhere bundled with a 4GB Memory, elsewhere with Little Deviants... It's not a bad price imho...

And for the games yes, UK retailers will get mine too :D

Just found it, and I assume I'm late, but maybe it wasn't posted in Gaf:

Mortal Kombat for PS Vita

-60fps
-All PS3 version features and content including DLC characters
-New modes and features tailored for Vita
-There are actually two Challenge Towers in the PS Vita version, and the new one has 150 challenges that are exclusive to PS Vita. A number of those challenges use PS Vita’s hardware features: the touch screen, the accelerometer…
-"reduced some of the polygon counts from the backgrounds and characters, but that screen is so bright, but that screen is so bright, and it’s got such high pixel density" ... "it’s a surprisingly similar experience."
-Regarding touchscreen gameplay : "For example, you can touch your X-ray meter to execute an X-ray attack. For fatalities, you can “slash” the screen with the appropriate inputs — say, away, away, up — to execute the fatality."
-Regarding accelerometer and others : "Over the years we’ve had Test Your Might, Test Your Luck, Test Your Sight…well, we’ve added two completely new ones for PS Vita"
-No PS3-to-PS Vita connectivity
-It’s just called Mortal Kombat (Vitality was a placeholder).
